If Hewitt's a hack for being beaten in straight sets by arguably the "greatest" player of all time, then what about the players Hewitt beat to get where he is?

If he's a hack, give me a description of them please?

And as if you could beat him, did you read in the paper how Hewitt has been playing sets against the young Aussie kid (name escapes me) who lost in 4 in the first round, and Hewitt has been winning 6-0, 6-1.

You wouldn't win more then 2-3 points a set of Hewitt.

Still a great Australian sportsman, after all, if Hewitt is a hack, so must Rafter and Cash be for winning only a GS or two.

What a joke.

He's no good

he's built up lke he's a legend yet he's a disgrace to players like Laver and Rosewall.

Rafter would beat him left handed with a blind fold over one eye and a pole up his ass after 15 bourbons.

In neither of his GS wins did he beat a top 4 seed. Coupled with the weak period in which he 'dominated' I think it's very fair to call him one of the most overrated players of the modern era. Does he ever beat top players in Grand Slams? He is lauded as a hero cause he always defeats no name players in dramatic five setters but yet again he fails against a top player.

Defeated the fifth seeded Del Potro in straight sets at Wimbledon last year.

problem is hewitt cant hit winners for shit
all he does is gets the ball back over the net
which isnt going to be good enough against the firepower of the top 10 players

A very good, not great player who gets the best out of himself.

If Phillopousis (sp?) had half the application and attitude Hewitt has he would have been an all time great.

I don't understand why people hate him, hate the people who hype him up instead.

I sincerely hope that isn't the only example you can come up with

First that came to mind.

I actually agree with you, by the way. Hewitt is a good player, but he simply isn't good enough to match the top players. Hence why he has been beaten by Federer on the last fifteen occasions. I don't really think that's his fault. I'm sure he's trying his best; however, his game just isn't at the level of a Nadal or Federer and never will be.

It's not a case of Hewitt having the talent to beat the top players and wasting it. He just isn't good enough, plain and simple.

yeah im not blaming him. I actually think he's a good bloke and gets a raw deal as far as his personality is concerned, but he is a very ordinary tennis player and i could beat him thats all im saying. and i havent had a hit 10 years.

Comfortably better than Rios, Ferrero, Muster and Moya, and that's just off the top of my head.

Fed is good but he aint that good!

He had a pretty tough draw at the US open in 2001. Beat 5 seeded players, (Portas, Haas, Roddick, Kafelnikov and Sampras), as well as Gustaffson (former top 10) and James Blake.

1.all the above are better than lewton.

2.Fed doesnt come Close to McEnroe the greatest player ever.

3.1 good player there.

Hewitt has winning records against all of them, as well as a few other number 1's.

3.1 good player there.

So Roddick and Kafelnikov - both former number 1s and GS champions-, do not qualify as "good"?

I'd say beating 3 former number 1's and a number 2(Haas) qualifies as a difficult draw.

You don't know anything about tennis Furn, stop pretending you do.

So does anyone have a winning head to head record with McEnroe? And if someone does, are they better than him?

Federor is 28. Only Borg had a wining reord against he great one in his prime, most of the wins were when mac was an old man.

Borg and Mac >anyone and my mum> hewitt
