News is that Sam Crouch (brother of ex sydney swan - jarred) is down at the coorparoo kings. will absolutely dominate this competition. regular senior player at mt gravatt, won the state league reserves b&f.
also heard of couple of morningside reserve grade players are on the track. obviously tyson spurling popped up last year, was handy.
be interesting to find out who they are.
sounds like it could be the closest comp in a few years then....very quiet on the caloundra, wynnum and kenmore side though. any news from those clubs circulating?

Panthers have picked a couple of handy footy players, caboolture have dropped to div 2, 18 rounds in div 1 play each team twice and 2 teams 3 times, panthers play aspley and UQ 3 times. panther been getting 30 blokes to training.

Who have they (Panthers), picked up then? I heard a fella from Grange may play there Rohan Cash?

rohan cash would be a big pick up but haven't heard that one, but will chase it up. Jake weller ex zillmere will be playing at the panthers, tyan O'Donnell ex zillmere, and few blokes from down south. we are lucky as people move to the coast for the lifestyle.

I think they have enough numbers for two teams going by the number of blokes I've seen at their training. They have absolutely no height though. The new coach has been completely flogging them on the track too.

I can confirm Rohan Cash has signed with Caloundra for 2010, been training for few weeks now. Great pick up.
I think I'd consider Caloundra to be the team to beat with the addition of him and the other quality signings you have already.
Well done guys!! :thumbsu:

UQ will certainly have a crack this year. We have had plenty of numbers on the track and a really strong pre season. Last night we had an ex senior Kenmore player come over, one of the Stirling Brothers. Hopefully a few more Kenmore boys will follow. Seems there are some issues over there. Look out for the mighty Red Lions in 2010

League will certainly be alot closer than in past years! I would say 6 teams at least could play off in GF but will ultimately come down to player depth and injuries..

Daniel Reeves and Steve Jackson back at the Hornets this year according to the website. Half forward pairing that smashed the Magpies in the Piney Cup Magoos GF down here a couple of years back.

Jackson as hard as nails and Reeves worth 50 goals in a good year. Go the short men!!

All those piney cup magoos players didn't help them last year, not sure why a couple more will help.

.

Only 7 from that grand final side played last year Hobbit. At least they aren't going out and buying players for there side. Which to me in this div is a joke. Nearly all of them are Juniors from that club that just want to play footy.

I agree with Hobbit on this one. Last year they were very ordinary. I don't think 2 more players will help there cause too much? I tip them to finish second last above Kenmore. I say kudos to clubs who can afford to pay players in this league. Not all clubs in the league have a side in a higher division to spend their money on.

I don't think any club is saying to much about who they have recruited (exception Caloundra). It was just a comment that those two players were back playing his year.
Time will tell!!

hornets should improve on last year. new coach and some old faces back at the club. Look for a better showing than last year

I think you agree Lion Man because you and your mate Hobbit are a couple of glass half empty guys who like to have a chop - turn that frown upside down fellas.:thumbsdown::D:thumbsu:

The comment was purely an observation that these two guys who turned the GF for the Hornets can only be good for the club. Add to that the fact that they're not a rent a team - they're Aspley grown. If they play the sort of footy they played down here that day in September, it'll make for a better game for us spectators. Let's hope they help Aspley to put on a better show.

Wasn't meaning any offence, just stating my opinion that Aspley probably won't be able to match the top teams again this year. The fact is, they're ultimately a thirds and fourths team and it is probably a bit naive of the club to think that a thirds and fourths team will cut it in this division.

Good on Aspley for giving all these blokes a go, but I suspect that this could be their last year in division 1. The only team they really had a shake against last year was Caboolture and they've gone down to division 2. I suspect that Aspley will beat the bears (if the bears stay in division 1 this year), but struggle against the other sides. No shame in moving to division 2 in 2011 and they should have a real crack at finals then. I wish them all the best for the season. :):thumbsu:
