Taylor Walker Dropped...

Again - just listing players who have managed to stumble on to the ground half fit without in any way acknowledging that is a pretty simplistic analysis.

what evidence is there that they are any less fit than their opponents?

once you are selected you are fit and expected to perform. that's just common sense, and the oft stated mantra of our leader ;)

That is terrible analysis. By my count, at least of ten of those players have had injuries this year. Talk about backing up Jenny's point.

there is nothing wrong with the analysis, you just don't like it. by my count you have NO evidence of these injuries being serious enough to prevent them performing. zero, nada, nyet.

what's terrible analysis is denying facts with nothing more than make believe. NONE of those 10 players (according to you) had injuries significant enough to stop them playing. not one. count that :p

players play with niggles and impediments all the time, and its both naive and unrealistic to try and play that card when it suits all because you don't want to believe what the demonstrable objective facts say.

and to illustrate your laziness, Jenny's point was that we have been UNSTABLE. if you're going to side with a wonk, and at least follow what they're saying. when 20 players have played at least 3 of 4 games, then the lineup is stable - even you're not out there enough to argue with that. surely?

Just saying someone has gotten on the ground doesn't mean much. We could have played Stephen Hawking by your reckoning, and that'd be the same as sending out a fully fit front liner.

actually it does. and if the match committee deem Stephen Hawking a better prospect at FF, then he better perform.

I mean where does it end? should we get back Robert Shaw? I imagine you can revisit his career with all sorts of creativity if you want to apply your rubbery standards. :D

Of all of the awful performances last week, Walker is the scapegoat?

It shits me to tears no end when I go through the list and see some of these other hacks in the side continue to get a game week after week.

Surely must be a discipline issue.

Booo! to Neil Craig...with double cupped hand!

C'mon - nothing is lazier than just being generally disagreeable. Sometimes the obvious things are actually that way because they're true.

but your obvious is 180 degrees upside down.
your obvious lemon, is actually an orange.

edit: incidentally you might have missed this:

last week (could've been the week before) Malcom Blight made the comment that anyone who selects unfit players, and then uses that as an excuse, doesn't have what it takes to be successful in the coaching caper.

now that's obvious.

I acknowledged that our squad has been unstable from the get go...that instability comes from fitness issues, injuries etc. as well as the disruption from the 10 players constantly rotating through 4 spots.

But the cattle are there and the excuses are beyond wearing thin.

consider this:

some (not all) of our injured players:
Rory Sloane
Hentschel
Moran
Stevens
Symes
Sellar

that's 6 players there. just wondering how many do I need to take to add up to one Nick Riewoldt?

if its all about raw numbers, there must be a conversion rate? ;)

As a Norwood supporter, I like this.

As a Dogs supporter, I like this even more.

Lake will monster Tippett. Walker would be alot more competitive body-wise.

Nick Riewoldt >>> our entire forward line combined.

shocked that Walker has been dropped...because he has not been our worst performer. first names that come to mind are Tippett, Porpz, even Burton (with his 20% conversion rate). however, not surprised the 'Taylor Walker dropped...' thread has already reached 20+ pages.

For mine one of the biggest hurt factors with our injuries has been the fact that Bock, Johncock and (to a lesser extent) Stevens haven't been able to get on the park at the same time.

I really don't like Neil Craig just at the moment... but you've got to admit he's got some pills! The entire city of Adelaide has been baying for his blood all week and he placates us by dropping our absolute favourite young talent! Talk about rubbing our noses in it.

Is there anything he could have done to make us angrier? Out: Maric, In: Griffin? I don't think even that would create as much vitriole. Maybe beat up a flamingo? Kill one of the pandas? Shoot Bambi's mother? Don't think any of those would cut it.

He's really outdone himself this time.

Clearly we've learned from that heavy Round 1 loss and have made sure never to make the same mistake again

Spot on. The dropping of Walker is proof that Neil Craig reads BigFooty.

Neil, I'm sorry for all the things I said about you. I take them all back. And you do look good in shorts. Now, can we end this nonsense and reinstate Walker please?

Hahahaha :D You've been on a real roll as of late Carl :p:thumbsu:

I'm still struggling to come to terms with the reasons behind this demotion. I think it's a bit rich that we fans annointed Taylor Walker as the next big thing and then get angry when he gets dropped - after all, the coaching staff know more than any of us whether or not he has the tools at this stage to play at AFL level. Nonetheless, he was far from our worst last week, even when played out of position, and given his great performance on the training track, brilliant performances at SANFL level to date, and constant accolades being thrust upon him by various members of the coaching staff, it just seems beyond belief to me.

Everything in this decision points to there being more going on beneath the surface than there appears to be. Him not training today just makes me think it more. If he was merely injured, they'd say so. Could there be a discipline problem? Surely they'd announce that too.

I really can't believe that it's simply form, or that it's simply pace. That just doesn't ring true to me.

You may be quite right.

They put it down to pace which I might buy under a "horses for courses" type scenario. But if there was any truth to that I would have thought he'd make the 25. A bit like the unlucky spinner who misses the perth test and carries the drinks. I wouldnt have thought he'd get any faster in the sanfl this week. All he has to gain is dissapointment in being dropped.

Did you ever play against Walker, WW??

Read the post below from a Full Back that played on Walker who was playing Full Forward.

Don't think this guy did either :p .....great speed ??

I am sure I read he played regularly as a CHF ......he may have played FF that day but I am not conceding that point or my argument

Wow this thread is now riddled with utter useless garbage.
Tackles
Now those midfielders there must be watching their opponents run off them to have tackles in range of Walkers.
It's a joke that they remain in the side there certainly are alternatives that make more sense then another game with Cook handpassing and tapping the ball to the opposition and being blitzed by whoever he's on.

Spot on. There is more to the dropping of Walker than meets the eye. It just does not make sense.....even Jonno Brown on TFS last night was bemused that he was dropped. A bit more honesty from the club would be nice.

Maybe Rucci could put his supreme investigative journalist skills to use, get in contact with all his 'sources' and do us all a favour and find out the real reason Tex was dropped. Either that or just make up some bullsh*t like normal.

At least it looks like Hendo will get a game now, as Craig has said Walker was dropped because of the fast paced game the Dogs play! FFS drop Burton instead and let Taylor lead out of the goalsquare. I dont understand Craigs logic?

At least we brought Van Berlo, back, who is incredibly quick..........Oh..................

Does anyone know if he has a close relationship with any of the senior guys?

Are we missing something, he has this reputation for being cocky and arrogant - are the senior players ending him a message to pull his head in, not Craig. Is it the senior player demanding his dropping?

Yeah well Carey, Brereton, Royce Hart And even Warrick dicknose Capper were arrogant and cocky. So would Craig have played them...........probably not.

That's because they had a reason to be arrogant, and they actually all had a very high work rate, especially Carey. We all want Walker to be a great player but if anyone was being objective on last weeks game they would have to admit that he doesn't chase, he makes leads for 3 steps and then gives up, he never makes repeated leads and he never makes space. He was totally shown up by Burton on work rate last week which is why everyone kept kicking to him all game, not because Craig secretly told the players to ignore Porps, Tip and Tex, I mean come on.

As for Craig hating Walker, some people seriously need to grow up. Firstly they have a selection commitee not a one man show and secondly you guys have no idea what instructions have been given to Walker that he might not be carrying out. He might be chasing kicks up the ground against coaching instructions for all we know rather than being played out of position.

Neil Craig has tried 5 youngsters in the first 5 games and elevated 3 rookies and played 2 and yet the majority of this board still accuse him of ignoring youth in our squad. There is a serious amount group mentality here that is not based on any facts, but only on blind prejudice.

That's all true but how many senior players have been missing out on a game so that we can play all these youngsters?

None.

Yes we have given some young players games but it has been because of injury only, not policy. As soon as Stevens, Symes, Bock return the kids will make way.
