Hey guys, an interesting article on Julia's history which I believe is still relevant today considering she could be our PM:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/na...-cause-red-faces/story-e6frf7l6-1111114587478

SCRAPPING the ANZUS treaty, twinning Melbourne with Leningrad and introducing a super-tax on the rich were among radical policies devised or backed by Julia Gillard as a student activist.

Labor's deputy leader was a key figure in a socialist group that pushed radical policies and social agendas in the 1980s and early '90s.
Founded in 1984 as a pressure group within the ALP, the Socialist Forum also wanted to sever Australia's alliance with the US and introduce death duties and redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor.

In a pamphlet from the mid-1980s, Ms Gillard describes herself as a "socialist and a feminist"

One key document is the 1985 "Pine Gap - Planning a Strategy", drafted by Philip Hind.

He recommended stronger ties with the USSR, including making Melbourne a sister city of Leningrad

Anyone else worried that we may have a Red as our Prime Minister?

I thought people need to be aware of Julia's past to make an informed vote. All around the world people are talking about how Australia is now under Communist control - I feel it is in the best interests of Australia and BF to know this.

We already suspect that Julia may be an in-the-closet Lesbian, and people can spin this all they like as a socialist thing - but we all know it's pretty much the same deal.

Remember - before you vote, think:

Do we really want a fabian communist running Australia?

Err she is not a lesbian! Whoever wrote this has no idea about left politics at the time. Socialist Forum was created to get people away from the CPA

I think it was just a way of trying to move away from the dirty word of Communist, but it's still basically the same thing, and only leftists try to make outr it isn't.

It should worry people that our PM is a Fabian, it will compromise her politics.

Even they say they want to ""advance the socialist cause by gradualist and reformist, rather than revolutionary means".

They infiltrate their way into any political party and once assuming a position of power begin to change policy untill you have a great big Cultural Marxist doctrine. Gough Whitlam once attempted to do what Julia may do.

For goodness sake, we could be about to vote in a Marxist Communist as our leader and the average Australian hasn't a clue.

Yeah, I suspect that the Libs they will hammer this point all the way to the election.

Then, provided they somehow win a few seats and continue to exist in some form of significance, the Libs might finally realise that this isn't 1950 anymore, and no one is afraid of the Reds under the bed, no one is afraid of socialism, no one is afraid of foreigners, and no one is afraid of non-christian, secular values and lifestyles.

But we will still care about working families. Obviously.

don't under estimate the fear of foreigners.
its their major weapon
Racist voters are swinging voters

My god don't tell me we have a real red under the bed to wave hi to the religious freak climbing up the walls.

Desperate times call for extreme desperate measure from the then Liberals in concert.

Abbott, during his student days, handed out anti-abortion pamphlets and wrote of his concerns over the gay and womans rights movement. Gillard was involved with the Socialist democratic student movement. Pretty normal activity for those on the left or right of student politics at that time. Its part of the trajectory of a political career. What is youth for but extremes....

Good to see the scare campaign starting already, even before the election. Impressive. You don't work for the Liberal party so you Kev? If she is all for taking some from the rich and giving it to those in need in this country then sign my vote up. I'm sure those fat cats can scrape by.

About time we had a Socialist at the top to counter the pitfalls of Capitalism. Look where that has got us. This isn't America where people s**t themselves over the word "communism"

Now kev, let us all in on these clues you have.......

Agree, but sadly for Julia, she is in the wrong party, should be in the Greens, the right faction will control her. :(

Moo - why do we have to put up with mentally impaired bigots like Kevin and Military Man on these forums? I'm all for entertaining different points of view, but these guys are downright offensive.

So socialist=communist? :confused

And as for the rest of the world comment...do you have any sources? A google search would reveal nothing on Australia being "under communist control" other than the comment you've just made.

I think you're talking shite...again.

Wow a leadership spill and look who comes running back onto bigfooty. Where were you the last couple of weeks?

A couple of weeks?

I was busy for a couple of days.

Some of us have to work for a living son, to pay for this tax payer funded 10 billion dollar annual donation to Clive Palmer et al. on which you're so keen.

When you finish uni and stop being totally reliant on your parents, you might understand that some of us need to work for a living.
If you ever earn an income, you might even feel a little sick in the guts that you have to work that much harder to pay the additional tax for Clive's little annual tax payer funded stipend.

Although you are unlikely to be independent of your parents until the poor long suffering souls pass away.
