Adelaide's looked good on paper all year. Bock still missing helps us and as mentioned before Mcveigh to do the job on porps.

The hawks killed us in the middle last week so one man that needs to remove the finger is Stanton. Let's hope the legendary no.5 gave some advice to the current one. Forward line looks as dangerous as it has all year with davey in excellent form and Melksham to add some class.

The bombers don't travel well and thats my main concern. Hille and Gus are big outs with the inclusion of Quinn it will be interesting to see the improvement from last year. Look a little slow with lonergan/hank in the side would prefer a speedier dempsey or willo up forward. Only have room for one plodder in the side and thats welsh who will tag vince i'm guessing.

Be a good game at least better that the finals performance last year.

Bombers by 14

this was the side that lost by 16 goals in the final to the crows last year, in bold are the players who aren't around this time...

B: Nathan Lovett-Murray, Tayte Pears, Jarrod Atkinson
HB: Henry Slattery, Dustin Fletcher, Adam McPhee
C: Andrew Lovett, Ricky Dyson, Mark McVeigh
HF: Jason Winderlich, Michael Hurley, Angus Monfries
F: *Michael Quinn, Jay Neagle, Andrew Welsh
Foll: Cale Hooker, Brent Stanton, Jobe Watson
I/C: Hayden Skipworth, Courtenay Dempsey, Brent Prismall, Heath Hocking
*Tom Bellchambers (late withdrawal)

so that leaves the change of the following (bolded) players coming in...

B: Nathan Lovett-Murray, Tyson Slattery, Heath Hocking
HB: Mark McVeigh, Cale Hooker, Michael Quinn
C: Brent Prismall, Jobe Watson, Brent Stanton
HF: Leroy Jetta, Scott Gumbleton, David Zaharakis
F: Alwyn Davey, Michael Hurley, Jake Melksham
Foll: Patrick Ryder, Jason Winderlich, Andrew Welsh
I/C: Tom Bellchambers, Sam Lonergan, Kyle Reimers, Henry Slattery

Massive difference (even though they dont always play in named positions) is up forward looking more dangerous and having not 0... but 2 ruckman in the side. Major changes down back as well, but with the reshuffling they seem settled enough.

Adelaide have currently gone LWLW, the Dons form hasn't been horrible, just smashed by the Cats, Essendon should get up by two kicks with
the Dons small forwards being the difference.

Happy.

Quinn has been on song all year at Bendigo...and gets in because Marigilani has dropped off the radar and Silverlock needs meat on his bones.

T. Slattery gets the Pears job..and deserves it for mine.

I want Reimers to tag McLeod...that could be fun.

Is he gonna buy a ticket and sit next to Macca in the Grand Stand ;)

Riemers lucky, as form hasn't warrented selection.

Lonergan probably in the same boat.

Quinn deserves his spot. Has been flying the past month at Bendigo.

I think we do play him at Half Back, his run and Carry will be important.

Do not underestimate the learning curve that this boy has been on. He hasnt been starring at VFL level by being out of his depth, he has been learning and its all coming together, so he should have a crack. Did some nice things at senior level last year, did some horrendus things, but he will learn.

Tyson comes in, as we are a defender short, and there is not much that we can bring in from the magoos.

He will be a perfect match up on Taylor Walker. Who by the way, is not that big.

Hooker to Tippet, McVeigh to Porpus.

I am hoping that Zaha and Melksham get extended time in the guts, especially Zaha. He is a good forward option for us, but long term i see him as a midfielder/winger type.

Congrats to T.Slatt.
Side needs more Dempsey and less Quinn.
How has Howlett's form been for Bendigo I have liked what I have seen at AFL level?
If Willo cannot get a run now, will he ever? Will this kick in the arse put some fire in his belly and get him up and about or will he ride the wave, take the coin and get out when the contract is over having played a handful of games? This trade (at the moment) is shaping to be a massive blunder.

He looks and sounds pretty big..192cm and 97 kg compared to slattery who is 189cm and listed at 87kg maybe pushing 90kg so he is a bit undermanned so the defence will really need to help each other out.
Douglas is another player that has been really good for them this year so he will have to closely watched.

That's it. I've given up.

T.Slattery is the only decent inclusion this week..

Until Knights is shown the door... I expect absolutely nothing from the Dons...

30 years for supporting and membership for this rubbish. Sick of it.

Hope we have enough balls to nab Malthouse as coach. We have a solid list but no idea how to use it.

I'm crossing my fingers that we bottom out this year and take the spoon... that would actually make me happy.. think it's the wake up call we need...

North Melbourne, Richmond and Melbourne are far better coached than we are..

Too many people here are happy living in mediocracy..

I'm over it.

3cm is nothing. 7 or 8 kgs might not mean much, depends where the strenght is porpotioned through your body. T Slatts is ideal to pick up walker

Me too. You think Scott and Bailey are better coaches than Knights. ****ing come on.

If you don't think Quinn is up to it, may be you should be asking questions about our depth and Dodoro, not of the selection of Quinn who deserves elevation for reward.

I don't rate our current game plan nor our weekly selections... they both frustrate me to no end...

Attack is not a game plan. It's half a game plan. It's great to watch but we don't have the skills to do it week in and week out.. we get smashed on turn overs.. over and over again...

Attack should starts with in our back-line and our defence should starts with our forwards..

I think Knights is too one dimensional..

I just don't understand our thoughts at the selection table. They make little sense to me..

Who would you replace Knights with?

Quinn, Reimers and T.Slattery all deserve a game, although Houli deserves one more than any of them. I would have liked to have seen one of Williams or Neagle brought in and Hurley played down back with TS as a third tall, but hopefully he can stand up as a KPD.

Hank and Lonergan have got to be the two luckiest players in the competition. There is absolutely no need for them to perform at any sort of decent level to get a game.

T.Slatts isn't a KPD, Hurls will obviously spend time down back with Ryder and TBell rotating forward. Playing short in Adelaide again might seem like a reoccuring nightmare, but expect our midfield to cope better and our small forwards to feature predominantly.

What is being done to this guys career is nothing short of a disgrace...

So you've been going along to VFL games and watching him play? Know the instructions he's been given when playing in the seniors? Know him personally?

Seriously, the love affair with Houli has to stop. He's currently a depth player and not the saviour of our midfield.

I can understand why some people are a little upset by the way Knights has treated Houli.. but at the end of the day.. it doesn't really matter... we'll end up either trading or delisting him.. his future at the EFC is basically over...

He'll end up at other club, get the game time he deserves and become a better player as a result... eg. Teddy "The Bear" Richards...

We just need to face the facts.

Brad Scott is far and away a better coach than Knights. All you have to do is attend one of there games and watch their set up all over the ground, the team is well drilled and follow instructions. I havent seen enough of Melbourne to comment on Bailey.

Totally agree.

I think the Dees are heading in the right direction too...

I don't see much progress at Bomberland.. Knights promised the world and has delivered very little... I don't think Sheedy would have done much worse...

This.

Side much more likely to line up like:

Hocking Hurley McVeigh
NLM Hooker Winders
Melksham Watson Jetta
Zaka Gumby Davey
Quinn Ryder Reimers

Bellchambers Stanton Welsh

Prismall Lonergan H.Slat T.Slat

Players rarely line up in positions they are named in these days.

Hurley to Tippet, T.Bell took a couple of good grabs up forward against Hawks and can rotate at f.forward with Paddy. McVeigh can take Porpos, Hooker first crack at Walker, NLM or Hocking to keep an eye on the dangerous Johncock. Guys in bold need (small forwards) to kick goals for us to be a chance.

It is going to be cold in Adelaide Saturday night (about 6 - 8 at game time I reckon, forecast is for a low of 4), therefore it will be greasy. Hopefully this will limit the impact of Walker and Tippett.

Honestly, if someone had've told you prior to the season we'd be playing Adelaide in Adelaide with Davis, Armstrong, Henderson, Sloan, Jaensch in their side, minus Bock, McLeod, Edwards, Burton you'd have jumped at it.

Yes, we have a couple of injuries that hurt, but the matchup is relatively even IMO. The only thing that will hurt us is the fact we rarely play with intensity outside of Melbourne, and never in Adelaide.
