Chris Judd

He's still a very good player but not the player he once was.

The reason he's treated with such disdain is because he's allowed a much greater leniency from the umpires and the MRP than other players. If he was treated the same as everyone else he would be a lot more respected.

I guess I get sick of seeing the Chris Judd knockers. This bloke is a superstar. I just watched the Carlton vs Swans game and this bloke had to do so
much on his own. He gets no support or protection like Ablett. He has to do it on his own like Buckley did at the Pies for years. He tackles, chases, smothers and works hard and cops the full attention of the opposition. He is not only one of the greats of the modern game but is one of the greats ever.

good post. if guys like gibbs, murphy etc had the balls and determination he has that midfield would be a lot better. Blues are pis*weak.

You'd be a mug to bag him. One of the few Blues who looked as desperate as the Swans.

Gibbs and (to a lesser extent) Murphy however must be the most over-rated young midfielders in the competition.

You dont think its the 1 mill in wages he gets a year and the drama he put over the whole move? He brought it on himself. Fact is hes a great player but the bad things hes done means he will never get respect for his playing abilities

true, i might be bias, but i felt like he lost a lot of respect for the way he just walked out on the club that gave him his oportunity, the eye gouging and elbowing doesnt help either lol.

I definately think he's well past his best, he doesnt look damaging anymore, i remember watching him in 05, 06 and he was amazing, clearly the best player in the comp no question.. so yeah making 1m+ cardboard , carlton and the general public expect the same form, thats why he gets so much crap.

Was the icing on the cake that was the West Coast midfield back in his glory days.

Now, due to the poor quality of those around him he has been forced to become the in and under workhorse of the Carlton midfield. It's hardly surprising that his disposal efficiency has suffered accordingly.

Still a topline midfielder, just needs his teammates to step up to the plate and help him out.

Haven't been watching much Geelong games this year mate?

That's just garbage Robert Walls always brings up when Judd has sh1t games. Judd gets just as much protection from his teammates now, than Ablett ever did in previous seasons. Everytime there's a stoppage you can see players like Carazzo, Betts, Joseph etc.. go and block for Judd.

To true.

He would love to have Daniel Kerr in the middle dishing the ball out to him.

I hope we can put Carlton to the sword and get a win over Judd next week. :thumbsu:

even Andy Maher started turning on him today saying "another clanger by Judd, dogged him the last year and a half". And at the end of the game Judd must have given away a free kick and Andy goes "stupid Judd"
hilarious!

I reckon people are dishing up excuses for him, "ooohh he has to do it on his own", "he has 2 blokes hanging off him every match"
get lost, Nathan Buckley had that for a career in worse sides and it never reduced him

CARRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNAAA SWAAANNNNNIIIIEEEEEEESSS !

Judd only stuck his hand up when the game was over. Bit of wallpaper over the cracks.

As far as champions go, contrast his game to when Adam Goodes was gunning it...and putting them to the sword when it mattered.

Judd Schmud.

over their careers surely Goodes has been better than Judd

On average yes, but Judd's best in the 2004-rnd 9 2007 was better than anyones. Hodgepodge pointed it out a while ago that Judd doesn't have the option of being a forward, playing an outside role or playing at HB.

I still think he can get close to his best but it will be down to his teams improvement rathen then his.

Thats never an issue.

One is a champion of multiple positions over many years, a complete footballer in all respects.
The other is simply a clearance midfielder who struggles to even take an overhead mark. One trick pony hyped beyond belief since 2004.

My favorite Judd moment is 2005 at Subi when he pinged a pass 5m over Lynch's head coming straight at him...and the commentator said "Lynch ran under the pass". Such was the stupid hype and exaggeration of his game. Still goes on.

He missed more targets than he hit today and kept us very happy coughing it up to us on a plate over and over. Stock standard after a nothing game that a bit of garbage bin time stirs a bit more hype.

Mike Pyke had more influence in the first half...he's the real story.

Judd is a victim of the "weight of numbers"

Carltoon bought him to impose his skill and leadership on an ailing and stagnant squad.

Unfortunately the "quagmire" which is Carltoon is slowly sucking him down to their level of shitness.

All that is left of the Judd which crossed from WC is his media profile which, unless another club offers a branch to drag him from the ooze come seasons end, could be consumed as well.

Exactly.

Got all of his touches when the game was over and he butchered the ball whenever he got it.

I think Judd is a superstar but he certainly wasn't today.

The trouble is, a lot of people continue to judge him as some perfect fictional footballer that has never existed, and when they see him play they say exactly that ... "He's a superstar, but he wasn't today".

The cold reality is, at West coast he had the cream of the crop around him, star midfielders like Cousins and Kerr taking the brunt of the action and Judd being picked up by the third tagger due to his running abilty. At Carlton he is number 1 midfielder and having to take the top tagger, and he simply cannot handle it.

Its funny how many Colingwood supporters pot Chris Judd, I can remember when he was tossing up between moving to Carlton or Collingwood how many of the supporters were j**king off dreaming how he would look in a Collingwood jumper and how many premierships they would win, just like they did when they thought they would get J Brown, and remember Collingwood offered him $1 million + too.

Judd is still an elite midfielder, no question, he just needs more of the Carlton midfield to carry their share of the load, just like he had at WC from Cousins, Kerr, and to a less extent Fletcher and Embley.

I am a Collingwood supporter and I started the thread on how good he is. Strange post
