Bloody fantastic win for us Roys today. I seriously didn't see this coming either...

I will preface this statement (cover my arse) by saying i am a terrible tipster.
I tip Caulfield to win the premiership this year. I have seen 3 years of "C" Grade footy and they are the best team i have seen at this level. The loss last week will only help IMO.

Well done to the Roy Boys i have always believed in them.

The four is basically settled, much to our disappointment.

"C" Grade is a terrific level of footy.

A day for the underdogs. Great wins for the Roys and Parkdale. I'm pleased that it looks like C grade for Fitzroy next year. A chance to look to the future. Rupo has survived and can hopefully get back on track next season. Interesting comments KB. Old Carey and Old Camberwell were strong teams in 2007. Caulfield Grammarians must be a unit. I'd still give the 2007 Rupo model a chance or am I just waxing lyrical about past memories.

Haven't seen a C Grade game but have been told by several who have that the standard is as low as they have seen for decades.

Take out the top three and it is pretty ordinary I hear?

I agree. Have seen Camb a few times and this team wouldnt get within 20 goals of the 2007 Camb C Grade team. Sure they were premiers, but Camb are 8-4 and will play finals this year. Imagine guys like Loats, Berenger, Chard, Hilton, Cross, Tallis, Deane-Johns, Hendrie, Mitchell, Bayford running around.

Might have got a bit excited, i can do that. In every competition whether it be cricket or football there are those who rate the old days extremely highly, the fact is that football has improved at local level. It is faster than ever, the team at Caulfield yesterday moved the ball quicker and more efficiently than Old Camberwell ever did. They might not beat them but i will say they are a great team to watch. I think most of our core players who have helped the club get to "C" grade have improved our issue is our depth, something Caulfiel
d certainly has.

The 2007 version of C versus the 2010 is a bit apples and oranges.
Reckon the top 3 this season aren't a patch on the top 3 of 2007. However, down the mid/bottom Ormond, Fitzroy and Mazenod are far more competitive than their counterparts from that season.

Old Camberwell's position in 4th isn't the best measure

gawd those Fitzroy fans are gonna be unbearable this week ... :D

No more than usual Mobbs.:D Great win by the Roys. Apparently the club is humming along with a good junior set up. Augurs well for the future.

The season would be complete if Scribe cracked it for a senior spot. Maybe round 17.;)

Scribe you are 100% correct the general level of ammo footy has improved so much!! D grade is a classic example with Willy & Peninsula coming up, it is amazing! Watch out for Werribee they are the real deal with new players Calea, Panayi and Palmer they are a class act and if they keep their crew together they will be a handful next year!

KB to answer your question on our thread the Friars have been hurt by retirements and o/s adventures but they are developing some good kids! if they can lure a couple of class acts back from the $$$$$ in the EFL they would challenge. Club overall seems in good condition , lets hope we can win a couple of more before the end of the year!

Rupo have found the step up more challenging then previously is it because the standard is so much better? Roys have only won 2 less despite the fact they were well off the standatrd of Rupo last year but more telling is the fact that their 2nds have won 4 more then you fellas!! Whats happening at your club that has caused this??

BTW KB I still owe you 6 Blondes or Coopers and wille ensure that is honoured at some time in the future!! Good luck to both of you I have enjoyed our club encounters in the past and hopefully some time soon we can get our act together and reacquaint in C grade!

I would say that the standard of C is down a bit from last season, but you'll always get variances from season to season depending on how clubs handle the drop and promotion.

I would have thought that the over longer periods the VAFA is generally on the improve. I remember being told that the jump from C to B was a big one, but didn't find it that bad in 2005. Both Collegians and SBMT have shown that C Grade isn't as far from the top as it once may have been.

2010 Rupo missing temming, eastway, west, allport, monzell, baddeley, quigley and niall mcgovern plus a number of other players who played games during the season. Rupo definitely better in 2007. lack of depth at rupo this year is self inflicted. no sympathy for bad decisions.

Robbo.
What are the bad decisions that have been made? Please enlighten us with your caffine induced wisdom!

No timekeeping issues at the Barnyard on Saturday Bedford? Maybe they should have blown the final siren at 3/4 time?

No thank god Blinky, Wellers too good in the last quarter. The Ormond team is very young and will only improve.
Good to see the new rooms being built out there, they will be as good as anywhere.

We virtually lost 70% of our best reserves players. There was a discontent on there opportunities given. Fortunately the proof is in the pudding with a premiership win. But that has come at a cost that has decimated any depth we had. Generally these players were pretty good but commitment wise were over the year short of the mark and didn't deserve senior selection . There's an old saying, "you dont make too many changes to a winning side." The top 4 "C" Reserves sides would beat our reserve team of last year easily IMO.

Even Rupo out in the boondocks has to contend with a paid local league drawing from the same player stocks, two in fact (Riddell & BFL). Riddell has been a bit down in the dumps the past decade or two (objective only), and would always be on the lookout to increase their market share of talent and interest. And the Ballarat clubs that were once were Riddell are absolute powerhouses of the BFL (objective but fairly well founded), and very good players would always be attracted to the Sunburies and Darleys etc. SO Rupo have to work hard to build and maintain quality lists, which - and they must be applauded for it - they have been doing quite well.

(I think that right. Is that right?)
