Green's a world class boxer and Lesnar would have little more than a punchers chance of winning if they were to fight. With wrestling allowed, Lesnar wins inside a minute though.

Definitely. In a straight boxing match Lesnar gets clowned easily, and Danny knows this - thus the ridiculous article yesterday. In MMA though Lesnar double legs him in the first 5 seconds and scrambles Green's eggs worse than he did Mir.

How so? You guys did see him cop a beating from Carwin didn't you? Lesnar does have a chin. Green probably wins on points but would he really inflict enough damage to get a KO? Doubt it.

I saw the fight and am confused that you'd use that as a basis for saying Lesnar would stand a chance in a striking match. I've got a ton of respect for what Brock went through and for turning the fight around against Carwin, but he showed that both his striking and strike defense are still way below standard for MMA. Putting him in against a world champion boxer who only has striking in his arsenal would just be cruel.

On a similar note, how do you think Jack Riewoldt would have done in the recent world cup playing for Australia? :p

Cmon, maybe Green couldn't but plenty of guys could. A David Haye or KLit brother right hand would knock him silly. Anyway who cares about MMA guys fighting boxers its never gonna happen. They are 2 very different sports.

Green could easily knock out Lesnar in a bare knuckles stand up fight if he can get close enough to land. In an MMA fight Green's head would be getting knocked through the canvas via G'n'P.

As for MMA vs Boxing never happening, it happened in UFC 1 and is happening again in UFC118 Randy Couture vs James Toney. Toney was a great boxer but he his way out of his depths stepping into the octagon against a veteran wrestler.

Danny Green is to blame for this fiasco.

Once NSW board rejected Briggs on medical grounds, Green should of found another opponent or called off the fight.

He also had another chance at the weigh in to cancel the fight when Briggs didn't make weight.

3kg isn't just missing weight, he missed by a fair margin and it was obviously that Briggs wasn't serious going into the fight.

:thumbsu:

Green knew he was taking on a bloke with only a punchers chance and he didn't even have that. Writing was on the wall when NSW wouldn't give medical clearance. Here's hoping this forces Green to pull his finger out and at least start fighting contenders now.

it will all be forgotten by the next time danny stages a fight in perth and everyone will still hand their hard earned over for seats

Can't stand green.

Question: How is it decided who gets a shot at his belt? I said to my friend ( a massive green fanboy) that danny never fights anyone of relevance and he was going on about you have to defend your title. Surely you get to choose the fighters?

Cant believe the back track in the press conference. Bloke has lost whatever credibility he had left. Absolute chump.

Backtracking to keep the fight purse. Regardless of what he does from hereonin his career is over. I know it, you know it, he knows it. If he admits its a farce hes gonna have to give the purse back if he goes along with it he might save take the 1% chance of saving his career but most importantly he gets to keep the purse. Cowardly act from a dog of a man.

Has anyone ever been owed a apology in Australian sporting history more than Anthony Mundine? Seriously feet kissing should begin next week

I suppose they both assume the money will always be there so they can fight whenever they get around to it, maybe chase money elsewhere while it's available. Though if Green wins the second one, they'd be able to have a decider which would be another massive payday, so they'd be smart to have a second one now. Mundine seems reluctant though, we'll all be on the edge of our seats when he fights Garth "From The Hood" Wood!
Well after last night the 21st of July I guess we can all say this .
Danny is more a marketer than a fighter, he is also " bum of the month man" just like Anthony.
Really, who gives a shit whether they ever fight again or not, I always had a little niggle about Danny , I thought I liked him but he'd get on 6PR here in Perth , and man oh man can he talk. He never misses a beat he never shuts up and self promotion is his great strength, then he fights crap can harry who should never have been in the ring in the first place.
This is a blight on the authorities in this state, and on the Green machine.
Danny has one last chance and only one choice, FIGHT A BONE FIDE CONTENDER AND UNIFY HIS TITLE. IF HE DOESN'T HE MAY AS WELL RETIRE FOR KEEPS THIS TIME .
What a tragedy for the sport . I watched a brilliant fight on the Fox the other night. TWO FLYWEIGHTS FOR A WORLD TITLE . The champion retained his title. He was a little smaller than the guy he was defending against. He was fast and his reflexes were greased lightening. The point is that his apponant was as good or nearly . The champion really was the better technition. The fight went 12 rounds . No one died like the bullshit that Danny raves about, putting his life on the line .Give me a break..
They were a little bruised around the eyes but were superb athletes with mighty capabilities, I can't even pronounce their names , but I tell you what Danny might want to stay away from those two little guys. They were real boxers, it is a sweet caper done properly. Danny's promotion Company has put a black cloud over this sport in Australia. They should have known better. Be ashamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hypothetically,...what if since then he has been threatened to keep his mouth shut or else?

Then he shouldnt have had the press conference, he should of just rode of into the sunset. How can he stand in front of cameras and suggest that it was KO punch. As most of these blokes end up broke in 20 years time hopefully australia remembers this fight and kicks him into the gutter.

Its bigger than the Fine Cotton affair. The sponsorship $$ that some betting agencies put into sport is huge. Cant see any of them queing up to support them after this.

you guys do know that danny does try to fight big names, but they simply refuse and are probably to scared. i honestly dont think green had alot (or anything!) to do with this. his reaction after the fight should of proved that.

yes his press conference yesterday was a little questionable. but there was contact made (i know i know, very minimal). TBH i really dont think green was worried or wanted to know the bets being placed just hours before the fight. i dunno about you but id rather consentrate on the fight rather the what the TAB is doing.

if he was to call it off at the weigh in then he would still cop alot of criticism and it would look like he was scared, bit of a lose/lose situation looking back at it. and if you were in his intense training program why would you throw all that out the window just days before the fight, it would just be a waste.

and some of the comments made by embers have been pertty laughable:rolleyes:

Just a quick question about the card, did anyone see the Mostyn Niemann fight? I went to school with him and it had a thing about him going pro in the advertiser, training with Danny green and beating him in a sparring match (although he is a lot heavier) Not bad for a 21 year old!

Green won't ever be broke. He's a marketer, he'll never be a real champion though,
but I bet he keeps telling everyone how good he is. And when he's old he'll really be bullshitting and he'll tell his kids " they used to call me Gentleman Jim Corbett I was so good" prove it Danny unify the title or titles or its over.
I doubt if any one will pay money to see any more phoneys, fighting unwell, unfit apponants.

Looks like Danny Greens been caught out in a lie. He said he never would of fought Briggs if he knew he was in such bad shape. NSW boxing commission are saying they banned the fight based on mobile phone video of Briggs sparring for 2 minutes which had circulated through the internet and to all those in the boxing fraternity INCLUDING Greens camp (Fenech sent him the video).

In the video Briggs pretty much cant land a punch or protect himself. Green said it was upto Hussein to ask him to call off the fight. Please Danny. Your the promoter. Its up to you you flog
