Sorry- my mistake. He was found guilty of murder today.

A COUNTRY footy full-forward booted 31 goals on the weekend, beating his previous best by 25.
Deniliquin Rovers playing coach Josh Bode went berserk on Saturday, kicking 31 goals to smash a pile of league records in the Kangaroos' 356-point obliteration of bottom side Wunghnu Magpies.

Kid called Cook kicked 47 for Williamstown U/19's agaainst Geelong West in the mid eighties. Willy kicked over a hundred goals.

One more to add to the list.

Quinton Graham 40 - Gumeracha 73.40 vs Callington 0 0 0

Needed 38 to notch his tonne and walking onto the field only he thought he was a chance to them.

Johnathon Creenaune is the name of the bloke in bold.
You could also add the following two from the same final round of 1984.

24 - Peter Tobias - Wahgunyah v Rand - Coreen DFL 1984
22 - Peter Lovell - Coleambally v Daysdale - Coreen DFL 1984

Dad played for Daysdale against Coleambally that day and Lovell started the final round on 142 goals for the year to Tobias' 140. He was celebrating after kicking 22, thinking he had won it outright, but then the news came through that Tobias had kicked 24!
Mick Dalitz kicked 121 for Oaklands that year and lost the goalkicking by 43 goals.
Both men were level going into the final round. Lovell kicked 24, Tobias kicked 22. The league called it a draw. It was 1985.

Have recently been researching Trevor Sutton's amazing season in 1982.
Match-by-match analysis via the Numurkah Leader paper which came out each Wednesday reveals that one of Sutton's "24 v Coleambally" should be deleted. He 'only' kicked 19 in the second match.

Round by round his efforts were: 8, 8, 13, * , 8, 24, 10, 7, 15, 9, 12, 14, 16, 3, 19, 20, 13, 17, 11 = 227 in roster matches, plus 7, 8, 7, in finals...
and the * stands for the regional comp match between Riverina and Murray FL.
Riverina kicked 25.26 to 13.13 . Sutton kicked 7 for the losing side.

All in all, that gives him 256 senior goals for the season [227 + 22 + 7].

Cheers
Ross

i played in one of the Deniliquin vs Coleambally games believe it or not. I was normally playing under 17’s but got promoted for the day into the seniors after playing under age in the morning! Maybe someone was out injured. I remember Sutton just didn’t seem to miss, from any angle. I also recall he had on some Lairy white boots, and had the arrogance (if you got it, flaunt it) after one goal square mark to just kick the goal over his head backwards while walking back to the mark to take his kick!

I have had the pleasure of playing with both those gentlemen and the story is legend in Wahgunyah. I played with Peter Tobias (Toby) at Wahgunyah towards the end of his career - legend. More importantly a lovely guy. When I moved to Sydney I was coached by Peter Lovell. Equally a lovely bloke and still killing it at 39yo. I am so privileged to have played footy with and known these two guys.

You going to include Under 19's level football Mobbs?

If so, you had better throw in Lawrence Schache's 25 for the Essendon under 19's in 1985

When Geelong West U/19s were getting 90+ and 100+ goals kicked against them in about 1983, from memory in the 100+ goal game the ff kicked 48 and in one of the 90+ goal games, a ff kicked 54.

Just found the 110 goal to 2 game :

Williamstown 110.27 687
Geelong West 2.0 12

S.Cooke 46 goals.

Absolutely bonkers hahaha

I've written a book on WA football between 1885-1945, covering every single league that played in the state during that time. It is currently in the editing process.

Unfortunately, the recording of goal kickers is poor outside of the WAFL, with many competitions not even recording its leading goalkickers at the end of each season.

Therefore there would be a few 20+ hauls that have slipped through the cracks.
