First round pick for Bock?

F***ing disgraceful, here I was thinking the AFL would be rational, surely they won't F*** us over again, its not as if it would disadvantage the new sides terribly much, but no, the AFL just sticks its finger up to SA football again.

If we had 450-500k set aside for Bock and he receives a substantially better offer, you'd assume he'd be on 600k at the very least. How the f*** is that not a band 2 pick at the very least?

I'm all for the GC side coming in, but I tell you what, if they don't win 3 premierships in their first 10 years, they'll be a bigger failure than Fremantle, such is the concessions they are receiving. Get the the GC or WS guys, because they're going to have a few premierships between them before this decades out.

I say store it until it the draft normalises.

If it makes Craig Happy give him a 3 year extension so he gets to use it.

Wait 2-3 years to gain maybe 4 or 5 spots in the draft? Nah stuff it, lets use it now and then use those 2-3 years to develop the player. If it was a band 2, as it should have been at the very least, then I would have waited.

Shiftiest part of this whole process is the AFL not releasing their formula.

They're running this on the fly. How the **** does earning power work then? He's getting almost 800K!

AFL formula = 1% age + 1%earning power + 1% acheivements +97% Demetriou.

Wayne Schwass on Melbourne radio just said AFC have just released a press release stating they are bitterly disapointed in the compensation given to us by the AFL.....apparently Phil Harper is in disbelief given he's an AA player and team B & F!!

Good work by the Crows appealing, I concur with their decision to appeal.

However the likelihood of the AFL listening/changing the compensation is practically nil.

After the AFL tell us no the chance of us going to the courts (or something) and appealing again is almost nil.

Even if we do, the chance of winning that case is almost nil.

So basically, we're stuck.

True I thought they were going to factor in this years results as well? Does the AFL know the results of our B&F this year or were these ignored completely? (Even though I know his results wouldn't be that great.)

The fact the AFL won't release the formula removes all credibility and honesty.

If Bock was offered to Hawthorn, we would offer first round pick at least

He is better than a 'band 3' player.

I really hate to think what we get for Browny if this is all you get for Bock.

Classing your boy as "band 3" is inexplicable.

i think they went mainly with earning power after geelong made some noise about ablett going for potentially very little didnt they? If thats right Bock obviously needs a new manager.

Which ever team finishes lower on the ladder the previous year would get the "first after round 1" pick, so if it were this year Adelaide would get 26, Hawthorn 27

exactly so their statement that its the first selection after the Premiership Club is not exactly true, potentially the 6 Clubs below us could get that pick if they lose someone the AFL deem to be on par with Bock, so in theory Bock could be as low as pick #32

I can't believe how the AFL can release a compensation pick decision prior to seeing who else decided to sign with the Gold Coast. And how could they put best and fairest performance as a factor and the decide on the pick prior to club's best and fairest ??

This in NOT a first round pick, this is a early pick in the SECOND round, the difference between Krakouer is very little yet they are world apart in value to a club. Given we would have nominate using the pick prior to start of the year. So effectively if we finish on top of other teams in 2012 who also have compensation pick the first non-weakened draft would effectively get pick in the 20's.

What a fkg joke in poor taste!!

We will never get a fair deal in anything while that Dimwit and his B Grade "post it note" lawyer run this show for the benefit of the Victorians.

Mark my words, you watch some hack from one of the big 4 Victorian clubs unjustly attract a higher rating than Bock and a first round pick.

The best draft pick we can get for an AA and B&F is pick 19 if we wait 2 years and nobody finishing lower than us uses theirs?? Or pick 26 to 30 if we use it this year??

I genuinely hate that fat bastard and his snivelling off-sider!!

If Bock was up for open trade he would have attracted a quality first round draft pick around 10 to 12 at worst which could be used at once.

Adelaide had no choice but to appeal, although I expect nothing from those authors of the grandfather son rule for non-Victorian clubs.

If we get stuck with being dudded after the appeal, then as others have suggested, use the damn pick now and get 2 years development into the draft selection.

Not happy. Not happy.

Why do I get the feeling that the south aussie clubs are quickly becoming the scourgely ranga kids in the AFL family?

I guess Crows and Port are first cabs off the rank so todays decisions has set the benchmark.

Ablett would have to be Band 1

Someone not as good as Ablett but better than Bock- Band 2

Bock- Band 3

Krakouer- Band 4

I think we are paying the price of being compensated first, I think future compensation will be more favourable as the "comittee" faces pressure from the stronger Vic clubs.

I hope your house burns down Demetriou, and I hope Adrian Andersons' burns to the bloody ground also.

I hope everything inside your home is lost especially all your photos and anything of sentimental value.

You fat *****, absolute jokes for a human being. Hope Demetriou and Anderson get out of the game soon, and have a worse retirment than McLaren. ****ING *****

What a disgraceful decision, band 3 for Bock? That's an absolute joke.

Good on the club for getting on the front foot and appealing the decision right off the bat for a change :thumbsu:

Assuming Gary Ablett is worth of a band 1 compensation, and Bock is a band 3, who the hell is a band 2 compensation? How much money are they going to be earning? Unbelievable decision.

I am angry about this as well but we have to consider that age is a factor as well. Bock is 27 and IIRC krak is 22 so this would have skewed the formula. I'm glad they appealed but nothing will change. We appealed the father son Gibbs things as well and got nothing. I'll wait to see what the rest of the clubs get. If a big Vic club get band 2 for a hack I'll be furious.

I'm sure this will be fixed tomorrow... it was a typo surely. How in gods earth did they come to that conclusion. Absolute bullshit... operations Anderson is a complete joke. well aside from this issue. His number 1 mantra is to defend the indefensible... defend the drug cheats, defend the umpires, defend the rules. Bullshit! This stops today!

So basically our best player aside from injury is worth a 2nd round pick. All Australian, Best and Fairest 2008 close again 2009 despite his injuries...

Apart from the decision it highlights a more general ignorance of what happens outside of Victoria... it's like they've never watched him tear a game apart... the fact he never gets beaten on top of racking up the dream team points into the 100's.... as recently as his 2nd last game against the Dogs (150 DT points).

GC would be having an absolute laugh at this... morons morons morons... somebody sack somebody!!!

How funny is it that if Port spooned it this year they would get a pick straight after our Bock pick for a band 3.

i can't believe Fat Krak got such a high value????

Neither can i - a most overrated player to put it mildly

and unless i have it wrong, the pick they got for him is NOT end of 2nd round but rather is used immediately after their 2nd round pick, hence hypothetically we could have pick 19 for Bock and they have pick 20 for Krak

nevertheless, the main issue is that the Crows got screwed again by Vlad

:thumbsu::thumbsu: your post is worthy of being reposted - most eloquently expressed and accurate summation of those 2 pricks running the AFL - never liked either and never will - 2 absolute arrogant #$#***s
