Re: Is Mundy signing bigger then Pav?

He wants to be able to use his Brownlow vote count to negotiate the best, and most accurate, deal he can with the club.

Seeing as Mundy is on about ~500K/year at the moment with zero brownlow votes what do you think a few brownlow votes would do to his wage? We talking a mill?

Re: David Mundy will not be heading to the Gold Coast

Might be a silly observation but if Mundy had already signed with Gold Coast it would/likely have been announced already.

So he is probably either staying or going to Victoria.

We have more cash because of Taz, hence Gold Coast less likely than the lure of Victoria (home).

He'd be crazy to go to that shambles at Essendon, especially when Freo are flying. He has the exact role he wants too.

It's possible the Hawks are having another dip at him, but we beat them?!?!?!

I am betting he wanted to wait and see where things were at at seasons end, and he then stays.

If not we should be compensated for an AA year...

Re: David Mundy will not be heading to the Gold Coast

My gut feeling is he's going. IMO he's just waiting around for the club awards so he doesn't sour the celebration.

Absolutely no other reason to be delaying, unless he's waiting for the season to be over to increase his price. May also be waiting for Geelong to be eliminated to see which way Ablett goes. GC probably cant afford Mundy if they get Ablett.

Or he could just be waiting for the club awards because he knows his inevitable high placing will give him another bargaining chip for more moolah.

Nah, he's staying. When we were playing golf the other day he said he waqs sick of his sister hanging around and was looking forward to her heading back east

Ok maybe i was wrong by saying 100% but i still believe that his leaving. If his staying then why hasn't he signed yet? its the end of season, so why? is he waiting to sell himself to the higest bidder?

Its looking more an more likely that the goldcoast rumours i was believing are wrong.
If he goes anywher it will be to a melb club as they are offering good $$$ plus good draft picks.

Looking 60% likely to be staying here.
Reason hes drawing it out - waiting to see how he polls in brownlow, club b+f etc.
Plus waiting to see whos getting delisted/retiring coz that will free up more cap space.

We can all play the whys he waiting game an turn it round to mean what we want.
Why hasnt he announced hes leaving since now our seasons over.
Surely once season is over he should of announced hes leaving to let all clubs no hes open for offers coz he hasnt done that makes it seem more likely he is staying.

An we have to becareful offering him too much
Sure we might have plenty of cap space now, but if all these youngsters keep progressing so well there going to be wanting much better $$$ an we could face the situation of having to let some go due to spending too much to keep mundy

I was quite confident he would stay up to last weekend.

Trade week is fast approaching and I'm not happy that he is drawing this out as long as possible, he is not acting in the interests of the club at all delaying it longer than necessary. I can think of 2 things:

1. He is waiting to Brownlow night and will pump Freo for every possible $. Whilst i have no problems with players waiting to end of season to get fair money, taking it much later does not help the club. He is taking it to the point that the few extra $ mean more to him than a potential premiership with the club he has grown with. He is putting serious time pressure on the club by having Freo exhausting so much time on his trade scenarios, when there are many other trade issues for the club as well.

OR

2. He has already decided to leave and allowing that new club to negotiate the trade. Cannot think of any reason Freo would not release info if it was formally aware of this.

Either way my view on Mundy's character has dropped significantly. Freo should seriously consider what relationship it has with Connor's in the future - he seems to be a real penny pincher with no regard to club's interests at all (and thus also somewhat his players interests) - as such future players should be wary of having this guy as manager.

The longer Mundy's decision takes = the more compromised Freo will be in any trade, the more likely Freo will be screwed in a trade and wasted time taken from other necessary trades.

Chill out people. He's on holiday. He's finished work for the moment so he stayed in Vic to catch up with his family and friends. While he's there he's deciding what to do. He has, apparently, healthy offers from Melbourne clubs. He has to decide whether his loyalty to Freo and the team he's a part of supersedes a natural desire to go home where he can spend more time with his family, play footy without having to get on a plane every 2 weeks. When he decides he'll let the club know. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with jacking his price up or playing mind games. He just wants to think about it for a while. Fair enough considering it's going to determine where he spends the next few years.

He did the exact same thing last time when he was out of contract, milked us for every cent and for Connor, his a piss poor version of Ari Gold, he doesn't care for his cilents playing future just their financial future just so he can get 10%.

He has had ample time for that. Interest followed by initial offers would have been on the table long ago with his manager, and upgraded in last several weeks no-doubt - irrespective of the rules that is what happens. The extra time he is taking is definitely not good for the club.

I am getting the feeling Freo is going to get screwed on this one unfortunately. Truly hope I am wrong.

PS: if one of the scenarios i mentioned earlier are correct I think he will end up a lesser Judd (like Judd but lesser of course - performance wise after he left WCE) - that attitude always ends up with the player dropping off somewhat at the new club as they are not playing principally for the right reason and they believe subconciously they have made it with nothing left to prove themselves or the public, except for the occassional highlight. Hope Freo are not offering over-price; unless he goes to another club - it will probably end in a bad long-term result for the club that gets him.

Maybe Buddy factor.(and I'm not speaking of Lance)
I recall him and Ryan Murphy resigning both at the same time and being both from country Vic and good buddies.
Solomon gone ----Taz gone
Murphy no doubt gone----Mundy?

Yeah, know of the buddy factor there - may be closer with Murphy  than we think.

Hmmmm aren't GC using that for the GAblett carrot (though family in that case).
