I saw him play on TV in the prelim that he lost the other week when I was down in Melbourne for the Swans vs Bulldogs Final. He looked pretty solid though it wasn't his best game from what the commentators were saying and they said he had been fantastic all year. Could be on the cards for a club somewhere.

I was always disappointed we delisted him. I remember seeing him beat Lance Franklin in a NAB Cup match; he showed some real smarts.

There were whispers his attitude wasn't great though, weren't there? And that this had an influence in the decision to delist him. If that's the case, probably means we won't look at him.

He has been fantastic as the Willi full back all year.

Like Andrew Krakour, the Gold Coast Suns have first call on him as they get to list 10 players who have been on a AFL Senior List in the past 5 years but aren't currently on one. They get to list these 10 players before Trade Week because they can trade them.

So basically they can list James Hird if they want to.

Like Andrew Krakour, the Gold Coast Suns have first call on him as they get to list 10 players who have been on a AFL Senior List in the past 5 years but aren't currently on one. They get to list these 10 players before Trade Week because they can trade them.

So basically they can list James Hird if they want to.

They can list him so they can trade his playing rights, but his coaching right can't be traded and as such would be a pointless move. Though when I heard of the rule in its full glory that idea popped in my head first of all, before the ex-AFL listed players playing in the State Leagues that they could get that could provide value, expirence and depth to their list.

Worth a look. We need more depth in the key defensive spots with Bolton nearing the end.

I'd definitely go after Thursfield. Always felt he was underrated at the Tigers and we do need extra help with talls in defence.

He can play tall and small like Craig so would be great cover if he is to struggle to get back. I'm all for it.

Thursfield isn't the worst idea thrown about.

However, I wouldn't mind Alex Rance for a straight swap with Patrick Veszpremi, if Veszpremi is adament that he wants to be traded.

We rarely trade for depth so if he's coming in, it would be as a regular 22 player and I can't see him supplanting any of the current defensive talls.

He is the type we normally go for as he has played well against us, including his first game on MOL. With B2 stuggling and 31 next year Thursfield would be perfect.

I reckon you're spot on with this one. We normally like the players that have done a job on one of our players, yet can't find regular game time.

It would mean your namesake would be struggling for a game

If Bolton is gone then we still have Reg and LRT holding down the key defence posts with Teddy as a 3rd tall and Reid in reserve should we need him. I'd be keen to try and find another tall defender in the draft rather than take Thursfield.

Admittedly I havent seen much of him but the Tigers fans have described him as a dour defender with no attacking qualities, not sure if he would fit in with our kamikaze style of play in the backline. Plus they don't seem very stressed about losing him which is never a good sign.

I thought he was pretty clear that we would be very active in trade week Harsh on Meredith too, it was pretty clear that the interviewer didn't know much about his injury situation and just lumped him together with Vez as one of those 'been around for 2-3 years and isn't an established player yet'

I thought he was very direct given the natural uncertainty of trade week. Maxfield always handles these situations beautifully.

What were you hoping for?

Will we be active in trade week? Yes, we're aiming to make a minimum of 8 trades. If we make 7 trades it'll be considered nothing less than an abject failure.

Will we trade our 1st round pick? Why? Is someone asking for it? We'll try our best to get a great deal for our own club, but to be honest we're really quite desperate to trade it.

Is it more attractive to trade in a compromised draft? When the kids are as shit as this year's crop, yes.

Will Veszpremi be traded? I hope he's not watching this, but we've been trying to contact Michael Voss to discuss a possible trade. He seemed more interested in acquiring the services of Ed Barlow, it was weird.

Is Brett Meredith the coaches' lovechild? Yes, we love Brett Mooredith.

There's a rumour on the main board that Mitch Morton is going to be traded at the end of the year, and we've all heard the rumours regarding Vez and Richmond. Ignoring compensation for a second, would you want Mitch Morton in our team? I'd say yes, based on the ability of the Swans to get the best from players from other clubs. What do you think?
