Typical built like tarzan, plays like Jane...
Only upside is that he could potentially be a 202cm outside wingman..
Definatelty not a key position or ruckman..
Struggled for games in Coburg seniors, not even close to a Tiger game

Greg Miller thought he was a steal at pick #51.

Was screwed from the get go.

Good old Greg, loved his sliders (Rance was another he thought was a steal). Problem was, these players only slid in his mind but not anyone elses.

This is a true story.

The Dean Putt story could have been even worse for us than it was. Miller had virtually guaranteed Putt and his family that they would take him with pick 18 because Hawthorn were also keen on him. When Rance was still available they decided on him, but Putts old man (watching on TV at Woodend) went absolutely apesh!t saying he was gonna drive to Melb and kill Miller etc. Then they ended up getting him with pick 51 anyway.

If he had been picked at 18 he would still be on our list and the most maligned player in the comp - at least Richie would be sleeping well :D

Not meaning to divert the thread, but what happened to Rance this year? In 2009, both Richmond and opposition supporters were talking him up as a future star for the Tigers, and now this year he's generally perceived to be an uber-spud. What changed?

Nothing really, our supporters are still as impatient with developing talls as ever...

true story, this pretty much sums up our recruiting depatment.

Like others have stated Putt is a girl.

geezuz where do you want us to start, let's just say his last sighting in Y&B was spending half a VFL reserves final on the pine as he struggled to make an impact. That just about sums up how far from AFL level he was

Rance reminds me of Ben Reid or a Chris Dawes in 08/09. Coaches needed to find out about others like McGuane and Thursfield, so Rance for development worked his butt off at Coburg to develop consistency and confidence with new game plan. He showed late in season from a couple of opportunities that he is definitely up to AFL standard. Expect a strong 2011

People don't understand that a third year tall who broke his face in a collision last year and has never been properly coached is not supposed to dominate.

...scratch that, a third year tall is not supposed to dominate full stop. Never mind, let's trade him!!

rance lacks decision making ability and skills, while a tall is in their first season these qualities are overlooked as we think to give them time, what we have realised is that rance is just a dumb footballer who will never make it. shame too because he goes hard.

Agree on the first, not on the second.

Lacks decision making ability due to severe under confidence and not knowing the game plan. His skills are fine.

As an example, King has average skills and last season had shocking decision making, he's improved this out of sight and was pretty good this year as a result.

There are the 3 'S'-es that are death for an aspiring players career.

Small - no, he was a good size
Slow, he was actually not bad for a tall

So it must be the 3rd

Sh*thouse

funny thing is it didnt to one aspirant..it did in the end but he still got to first base...Billy Nicholls anyone?
But he did have help from a coach that was the 3rd must be S. ;)
