Apparently, we're still so keen to get Sherman we're sending a delegation to Brisbane tomorrow to try and convince him.
I'm in the Sherman fan camp but if we basically have to twist his arm to get him to Sydney I'm not sure that's a great idea. We should be getting players who have at least a basic desire to play for us

Suppose you don't rate Goddard, Hayes, Fisher, Riewoldt or Judd then?

Where did I say I don't rate them?

Just because you like St.Kilda and Carlton, doesn't mean I have to.

Not sure I understand the connection between the two trains of thought.

Sherman would be a good pick up but I get the feeling he doesn't like Sydney, especially after the 'Shushing' gesture when he scored the winner in MOL's last game.

Dont worry about Sherman he looks good in red and white and he knows the colours well.... like any good Eastern shore lad from Hobart he grew up playing for Clarence.

I'll happily go and convince him.. with my skills of persuasion. yes them.

I don't think we should be as harsh as we're being on Vez. We can't just class it as attitude. Sometimes players just find it harder than others to take the step up. Back in my junior footy days, I played for ten years... I had very good skills, I had good footy smarts, I had fitness and I had worked hard to achieve all of that. Yet, I was a very average footballer and players from rugby/soccer/basketball were coming in and taking my spot in the division one team. We don't know for sure that's it's Vez's attitude which is the problem... that could just be what the media wants us to think. My friend's, best friend is Pat's Girlfriend and from all reports he is a great bloke.

Anyway, my two cents.

OK people in all seriousness

how likely am i going to lose Currie where will he go and we better get someone ****ing good if he does go

ill possibly lose everything i have loved this year
Haven't heard Currie mentioned in the media all day but maybe because no reporter has asked about him. From Currie's point of view, if a club came up to him and offered him a spot on their team he would be silly not to take it considering he has Mumford Seaby and Pyke ahead of him here

NOOOOO ur meant 2 say there is no way he'd leave no club wants him :[

so Taylor Walker is a trade talk?

Idd love 2 get him be a good one 2 have sitting in the forward line

I think Andrew is the Walker being discussed for trade. I doubt Adelaide would even consider offers for Taylor Walker; and there's been no mention at all until you.

By the way, I don't think Dan Currie's going anywhere.

Fair points.

Can be attitude towards training I suppose. He didn't have much of a tank!

Unless we land Sherman I don't think were going to go to hard for anyone else. From here we have a pretty settled list.

The only one outstanding is what may happen with Bevan. But that's more him putting his hand up than us pushing for something.
I totally disagree CAS, if we don't land Sherman I think there is a list of outside midfielders that they will go after.

Fair enough Grim.

You have a horrible habit of being right about everything I just cant see us being that keen to offload our current list for average players form here this year.

Who form our current list do you think we are using as bait?

Bevan, *look away Soph* Currie, our draft picks (1st-3rd rounders)
Barlow and MOD too but you wouldn't get anything for them.

In other news, Andrew Krakouer heading to Collingwood so we can cross him off our list.

Like who? Is there anyone else remotely like Sherman who is even rumoured to be available? Players with genuine pace and even a modicum of skill are pretty rare. Lots of midfields are quite plodding (think WC, Saints etc) and few clubs will consider themselves to have a surplus of speedy runners, even amongst their developing stock.

If we ignore players who've only been in the system a year or two, you come to the likes of Kerr and Foley. Foley looked like becoming a super player, and has had a development path not unlike Jack's, but he's been injured for much of the last two years.

Who else do you think the club might / could / should even enquire about?

My recollection from last year is that it was strongly rumoured a week or two before trade time that the Swans were interested in them.

I'll defer to your recollections as mine is pretty hazy. My knowledge of fringe players at other clubs is relatively poor so I couldn't pinpoint possible targets. For example, I don't know a lot about Everitt, wouldn't have picked him as a target before this week.

Here's a possible target

Contracted Adelaide midfielder Tony Armstrong has attracted interest from Hawthorn, North Melbourne and Sydney.

Although I don't think he's an outside midfielder, he's more in the mould of a half-back/winger. Yes another one.

Hmm I've never heard of him before, he seems to avoid the contested ball though having way more uncontested possesions, which gives him a high efficiency with relatively few clangers, good old stats. Might be worth taking a look at.
