A bit too old.

You know how bad trade week is going when on Thursday afternoon the trade week radio show have had to play the Pelchen interview for a third time in the last two hours.

Pelchen said the reason for the delay with the Hale trade has been because Hale hasn't decided which is his preferred club. I'd rather see which club gives us the best offer and then try and convince Hale to go there. :p

Nixon said this morning it will probably come down to which club offers north the best deal. Hopefully it plays out that way.

At the risk of repeating myself again, this is why we need Hale to agree he isn't fussed out of the 2 sides as long as he is getting an opportunity. If he chooses club x well we lose the bargaining power of having competition.
Surely David hasn't decided yet by the sounds of Trade Week Radio, otherwise a deal would have been struck by now

I'm sure Pelican will want to convince Hale to say he will only go to Hawthorn (ie Gibson) and hope to stiff us on the trade.

If it came down to just us the deal should have been done by now. I think the club is keen to let Hale go where he wants to go as long as the trade offer is fair. There has been no real fall-out between us and Hale, he is loved at the club, there just isn't room to play him.

I can't see Hale biting the hand that feeds him by making this type of move.

Hale understands that unless we get what we are after he will be retained as backup and that could just about spell the end of his career if he is left to languish in the VFL for another year.

Hawthorn and Melbourne can both offer Hale an opportunity to play at AFL level so it should hopefully come down to who offers North the best deal.

lol. Pick 32 is on the table and that's it. The 1st round pick upgrade rumour has been shut down.
Well that being the original offer you'd think that is the reason it hasn't been done yet. I'd say we would be after Hawthorns first rounder to make the melbourne first round upgrade come into play.

32 will be 35ish this year. I am not keen on getting a top 10 pick and putting in the development years in only to see him go for pick 35ish.

I'd rather see the Dees bumble around with one ruckman and no FF option and have Hale play for Ballarat and keep him for insurance.

And then he called Hale a great ruckman that can go forward and kick a goal. Ridiculous offer from Melbourne if that's how they rate him. **** 'em, no deal.

Timmy must be a pretty shit poker player. You don't rate a guy like he described and chase them and do a presentation for them and say pick 35 is all you will offer.

LOL i just heard that.... thats a crap deal.

Yep not worth even talking to Melbourne if thats all they offering.

32 to will turn into 35 very easily if compo picks are used.

Melbourne can get stuffed as far as I'm concerned. I will enjoy Jamar getting burnt out or him having a down year and watching spuds like Spencer and Johnson get smashed week in week out.

If I was our recruiting team I would tell Melbourne to not even bother talking unless they come up with something reasonable.

Looking more and more like he is Hawthorn bound or staying.

Yes but he did also say "At the Moment" that is our offer which suggests that when pushing shit comes to shoving shit they may offer some sort of sweetener.

I was surprised when Pelchen said he was quite confident he could beat Melbourne's offer for Hale, but he must have caught wind that the Dees were only offering pick 32. imo the upgrade of 17-12 is really not a huge price to pay given how deep the top 30 talent is, it would only have real value if you were eyeing a specific player, I am sure some guys in the second half of the first round will be as good, if not better, than some from the first half.

It is why I said I would prefer upgrading our pick 35 to fall into the top 30 rather than pick 17.

Who wouldn't be confident of beating that. Melbourne may as well be offering a one legged midget if they are offering 32, because his value to us as backup is more important than a pick that may well become 35.

So that means either the Brown compensation pick (26?) or their first rounder (19?). Considering Josh Hill has agreed to go to the Hawks that looks like both those picks are on the table. I wonder which one we will be offered?
19 then Hale goes, 26, then Hale stays.

If the Dees are serious they will up the offer. Simple as that really. Looks like a Monday afternoon deal or nothing.

He's staying then.

When you consider what Adelaide paid for Tambling not to mention what was given up in previous years for Cameron Wood and Mark Seaby, I tend to agree, that deal is bordering on insulting. I'd be telling Melbourne to shove it now and move on to other suitors.
