Grigg>Collins

Don't know who is better cause I haven't seen Collins play too often... however on pure character alone... it seems like we have traded the worst character money hungry easy game chasing player, for a grand bloke who gives it his all and is fully motivated

You ain't as safe on this board as you are on your own little precious Carlscum board , so to return to it, is probably your best option !
Just card them PTF, they deserve no mercy.

its hard to work out this trade

Grigg, his kicking is simply awful, however Collins I rate this lad, considering that the RFC had the position of power it is a little difficult to work out

Hardwick and co must really rate Grigg

Leaving Andy aside......I would say that Grigg is a player who knows his worth and full potential and wont be stymied by a: 'star' infatuated, ego-intoxicated, corrupt, worthless and going nowhere club such as your own.

Look Andy is more skilfull by foot but takes a lifetime to use it. Grigg is harder, bigger, faster by hand and foot and has a much bigger engine.....it's not that hard really it isn't.

If it helps you sleep at night... I prefer to listen to his manager when he said he's going for starting games... he wants it easy... the question is, will he get it easy?

Griggs technical skills are good. That is not his worry. It his decision making, which often involved trying to gain as much yardage as he could, often resulting in kicks to 50/50's. Once he worked on this in the VFL and came back, he was a much better player.

You have a gem here, he will be really good. Us Carlton fans are just happy as we hade high hopes and were faced with the prospect of losing him for nothing.
This

And Dimma had better take him aside early and inform him that things aren't necessarily going to be easier for him. He does have an ego and it can't be allowed to get out of hand.

collins brain and skills > grigg's

our foward line just got even worse.
Agree. The 15 goals Andy kicked last year will really be missed. I guess we can only hope Griff, Taylor, Post, and Mitch from the midfield can make up the loss. Going to be hard though.

Griggs technical skills are good.
This is inaccurate.

He is not a technically fluid or accurate disposer by foot.

A good handballer on both sides of his body, but gets no penetration in his kicking. Can 'bomb' the ball long but doesn't deliver the ball frequently with any sort of momentum.

He is, however, tough, likes a tackle and can accumulate the football, his testing suggests he is incredibly explosive over the 10-20 metre range.

I'm not sure that he will be able to fill an inside role at a Top 4 or Top 8 level, such that Carlton for two of the last three draft periods have targeted inside midfielders to complement our outsiders. The fact that we payed so heavily for McLean suggests little confidence in our other options at the time.

But Carlton supporters know next to nothing about Collins, and as such, I think we're a bit hesitant to say anything about this trade other than that we've lost a good young talent in Grigg.

How to destroy a team's recently revived culture:

1. Make sideways trades with the most motivated players on your list for petulant players who want an easy game
2. ????
3. Profit

I can't believe we lost Collins!!! I never expected a player like him to leave the club, well Grigg better play some great for us.
cut me deep too.. got andys number on my jersey after that swans game to piss my mates off..what to do now. Welcome grigganowski.. just feed the ball to jack and all will be good

are you serious? its not just about the number of goals they kick and its certainly not about how many he kicked this year. its all about the player he was becoming, you could tell he has developed so much and was finally starting to find his feet, this was his first season that he got a consistent run in the seniors.

Grigg needs to work on his decision making/skills while Andy needed to work on his body/strength. Give me the footballer over the athlete especially since it's been our weakness. I don't understand why we were so into Grigg given those reasons but we will see. He's basically Daniel Jackson with a bit more speed. Something we need to move away from not work towards IMO.

Might've been semi-acceptable if we worked in a pick upgrade given the leverage we had but we didn't even manage that.

Not happy.

Grigg will be a fantastic player,Collins moves well and uses the ball well both the same age with tremendous upsides got to say it is a strange feeling this trade.

As for you Sloany you need to think about what your club will give for Jacobs instead of posting stuff you know nothing about.

interesting one from both sides.

I reckon you guys will warm to Grigga pretty quickly. Tough, hard at it, and always seems to be on the angry pills. Has that little bit of mongrel in him that you love to see

Ok, no, he's not the greatest kick in the game, but he's no where near as bad as some of our guys are making him out. Definitely serviceable in that area, and can really rack them up

If it wasn't for Collins' courage in the Swans game - would you guys be as guttered?

He has had one good game and is really an unknown quality at this stage.

I hope for both clubs they go well. I think Richmond is trying to build midfield depth and Grigg is more of a midfield runner than Collins from what I have observed. Good luck to both teams and hope to see both the bluebaggers and the tiges in the finals in 2011-(with the Blues winning a few finals the primary aim) & with both players playing well for their respective clubs.

Agree on your assessment of Andy. I know little about Grigg so I'm yet to make judgement. It would appear by your assessment of Grigg is that he's just one of many down-hill skiers at Carlton. You have enough right?
