Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

Iam extremely disappointed to see grigg leave Carlton & the FCC have a very good player on their hands. I as a Carlton supporter do agree that grigg wasn't given all the chances he should of been given this year andthere were times this year where he should of been played instead of some other players.
Not sure if it's all fattens fault or if it was a mc decision but what's done is done and we must live with the outcome.
I personall would of preferred a pick instead of Collins because I can't see where he would fit our team and see him more as a depth player on our list. Good luck to Shaun and hope he finds what he's looking for.

Just a quick question for the tiger supporter though would you guys have preferred to lose a player like Morton, Jackson,Edwards,Connors than Collins if the answer is no ...... You have a bargain

No collins would have been the one, was hoping for mcguane or thursty though:eek:

Your last point is a good one. Out of those players that you mentioned Collins is the one I am most comfortable with in going.

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

Here's my question to this thread. How have we lost so bad when we have just traded a pick #73 player for a pick #19 in the same draft?? Carlton were in full rebuild mode when they picked Grigg, so they must have seen something in him!

Pick numbers can mean little, we got JON at pick #8.

IMO Collins showed a lot more that his initial pick #73 indicated. Remember Hird was picked at pick # 79.

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

I agree there judd05 collins is the most expendable player on that list you mentioned and i doubt carlton would have budged on anything lower.

Looking forward to seeing Grigg in the yellow and black next year, it is nice to have players actually wanting to come to Richmond

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

when the very first news broke that grigg wanted to play for richmond, i thought he must of been a supporter from when he was a kid. still not sure if he wanted to play for us before we spoke to him, or we approached him first?

I love Andy more than most and think he will be an exceptional player in 2 years time but if I was faced with the qwandry of getting both Grigg and Houli for Andy then I would have to put my football brain on and hit that button. It just hurts because Andy is such a strong character at the club and is dearly loved by us supporters and the playing group.

One thing is for sure and that is this club is serious about what they are building and gone are the days of having Tivendales and Hydes clogging up our list for 3 quarters of a decade.

Sometimes tuff decisions need to be made. It sucks though !

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

money money money.

Wouldn't you leave your job for more money?

People forget that this is the players life's this is there occupation if a employer from another business offers more money lets say $50,000 more per year anyone would happily put in there resignation to there boss and move on.

Forget that we traded Collins, its the fact that we actually gave Carlton a player, when we could have given them jack shit. That's what bugs the crap out of me.

How are we supposed to move forward as a club when we dont have the balls to play tough? You don't see Carlton playing nice when it comes to trade week, they go for the throat everytime.

I just hope the club has something up its sleeve in regard to the PSD otherwise their little honeymoon period after 12 months will be over with the majority of fans.

There will be more pressure on Grigg to perform than there was for Tambling, I wonder how he will handle it.

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

:thumbsu:WONDER how many of you remember, re the family connection, that Peter Francis actually played 52 of his 159 career games (at four clubs) for Richmond. Four more than he played at carlton and more than his time at Fitzroy and Sydney!

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

thats a good answer CNB, im warming to grigg, its still a shock though that collins, whom i thought was a big part of our future, was quick to go.

Me too i was kind of thinking the same, I thought Collins might fill in that sneaky
half forward spot we needed since brown retired.

Grigg is a good player who IMO has the potential to become great. I for one definately wanted him to stay at Carlton but I guess he got sick of having to prove himself to get a gig. His last month or two he showed what he can really do and I hope he keeps improving like that (except against us). Good luck to him.

really you are all idiots, Grigg is a much better player than Collins.

Grigg has the ability to just rack up touches in the midfield while Collins is a foward pocket player who imo isnt in our best 22 week in week out.

Nahas, White, Hicks and other players we may draft could eaisly play his role.

I personally think Collins was better than all those 3 put together and there was definitely a spot for Collins in the 22.

Expect Troy Taylor to play the majority of the season next year, they play almost the same role but if I was to choose between the two I would say Taylor.

I'm with we you on this PRR, we once again wilt to that arrogant club carlton and their demands when if we stuck to our guns could have got grigg for nicks in the psd.

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

There is a real Carlton connection as not only was Andrew recruited from Bendigo, the home of many Carlton greats, he is also the nephew of Peter Francis, who played in Carlton’s 1979 premiership team."

just copied this off the AFL website may explain why Collins was happy to move to Carlton.

Francis also played for essendon, fitzroy and richmond so what are you trying to say?

We might of offered something else but the Andy deal was the only one they would accept.

Because they are arrogant coke zero we should have stuck to guns done deals with gc and west coast to make sure we got him in the psd.Collins was a good up and coming player that we shouldn't have traded.

Obviously we didn't rate Collin that highly.
Perhaps we did rate Collins highly but we rated Grigg more highly?

not as tho he is a cotchin or martin, not fussed with this at all and can't wait to see how it works out!
This:thumbsu:

We still hgave raft of draft picks and still haven't fiished trading yet.
Let things run its course and we might be pleasantly surprised.;)
