love collins but he's a scrawny bugger. grigg is like a KP playing in the midfield. he's about the size of kel moore.

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

Given when he first broke into the team last year averaging 19 touches and a goal a game as a midfielder and looked right at home, I think you're mistaken.
Wouldn't have broken into our midfield and won;t break into Carlton's.
Not sure where you're going with this:confused:

Just think you're wrong in your opinion of him not being a mid.

Showed he was last year, played out of position this year up forward to fill a hole. Anyways I'm over the initial shock of it all. Good luck to Grigg, hope he's a star. Just wish at the very least we got a pick upgrade given the leverage we had re contracts. What's done is done.

Leveridge means nothing these days. You need to play fair at all times otherwise it comes and bites you on the bum at the next trade.
Collins was so not a mid it's actually funny. Has no endurance and is a slow thinker.
Good hands and a good kick at goal. and courageous.
We won't miss him one bit.

You really think Carlton of all clubs will remember our "fair play" next time? Haha yeah right.

Bollocks, one the smarter footballers we had.

An even bigger win is having both.....

ah mario a man who can cut thru the shit and see.

and let me add i dont think to many on here have truly watched collins or understand why he played forward. and if they cant grasp why he played mostly forward they have no idea.
they also apply one set criteria to a player and a different criteria to a similar type.

not all players start out in their positions g ablett jnr started as a forward. why because at afl level he did not have the motor to play in the midfield. as a junior ablett was a very good mid. mitch morton was a very good mid andy collins was as natural a mid as you could get. like ablett he currently has some deficiencies that prevents him playing midfield at this level but as we develop him or carlton develop him now this changes. and it is changing.

I REITERATE WE HAVE NOT GIVEN UP A FORWARD WE HAVE GIVEN UP A GOALKICKING MID.people can put their blinkers on and pretend they have never heard of development. come to think of it richmond people wouldnt know development if they fell over it.

i will reiterate im not having a go at shaun grigg im happy to have him.
the only thing im disappointed with is the process we have gone thru. no matter how one argues the topic common sense says we should have both grigg and collins at our club.

Seems like a fair trade. We trade a promising half forward for a promising mid.

As other have said; we wouldn't be able to get both Grigg and Houli in the PSD.

For those who are disappointed that we couldn't screw over Carlton, take solace in the fact that we can now screw over the Bombers and claim Houli for nothing in the PSD (unless West Coast decides that they want him).

Re: questions re Grigg/collins trade

i dont think it was so much slow thinking he just tried to do everything himself and thus got caught nearly all the time.

You don't get it do you?
You can't just let every player slide willy nilly into the PSD.
Teh club saw something in Grigg that they wanted.
They chose to deal straight away because they saw something in Grigg that they weren't prepared to let get away.

Who's to say that some time down the track when we are looking at getting a player from another team besides Carlton that they won't show good faith to us like we have shown to Carlton?

Think bigger picture, Free Agency is coming in soon and do you think many clubs will want to deal with Carlton/Essendon or Collingwood? I\would almost put my house on it that if a club is looking at trading a player there first preference would be to deal with a club that gets things done quickly and doesn't try to shaft them Sydney is the first club that comes to mind they get things done quickly and rarely pay overs or unders for a player.

tell me tugga why is it that its taken collins 4 yrs to start to get a regular game. it will be the same for taylor.

while im at it what i have seen of taylor collins is a better kick.

finally collins is a mid who wasnt played there but still did well enough in a role while his body slowly developed.

why is it we have pidgeon holed collins as a forward when nothing could be farther from the truth.

Yes Andy is a pure centre man waiting to grow into his body. If Carlton can be patient with him they will see the best of him. Will only need one more season before really hitting his straps.

He just has really good goal sense and can crumb front and centre better than anyone else in the league . That is why he is pigeon holed as a small forward. I gotta say that I still agree with Tugga though regarding Troy Taylor. He needs games and lots of them.

Grigg is a gun!

what a joke this board is today. Collins, while i am sad to see him go is massively over rated on this board. at the end of the day carlton targeted him and he WANTED to go. if thats what he wants then good riddance, we want players who want to play for the RFC.

Andy's biggest fan and yet the most mature and realistic poster on here.
Fair play to you Rusty.:thumbsu:
