Welcome home Todd Viney

since he is being touted as a top 5 pick, i doubt that is a concern for melbourne...

Yeah for sure. I don't expect us to have (normal) access to any top five draft picks for the next 10 years, so no one is gonna mind :D

Massive, massive news. A double win too - Todd's really highly regarded as an assistant coach, so that's a huge plus, plus the 'steak knives' of his son basically guarenteed to be a Demon in a couple years.

Our great work off the field continues.

Very happy to have Todd back at the Dees.

I have it on good authority that Jack will sign with the MFC very shortly as well.

I don't know the rule but I have heard he will be eligable to train with Casey in the next year or so.

Let\s hope we can top off this great news by flogging the Lions on Sunday!!

Great news Hell, I understand that if the player agrees to be signed up then he can commit early to the club and train. Carlton did just this with one of their future father/son selections

The Jack Viney deal was done about 6 weeks ago. Whenever he came down to Melbourne.

I think this is just a bonus. Forget Jack for a minute. Todd by all reports is an excellent coach and with the departure of Sean Wellman it is a fantastic coup.

Todd = Jack. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: **** yeah!!!!:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Regardless of his son its great to have Todd back at the club, one of my all time fav. players. He brings expierence (after coaching at 2 clubs) and passion for our club. Fantastic appointment.

All thats left to do is bring back Stephen Tingay and Allen Jakovich to the club in some form and we will have the dream team. :D

Crimson Azure: Melbourne would not newly create a role for Adelaide to get a possible father son chance that is melbournes chance, SECONDLY Emma Quayle has already announced Adelaides attempt is stupid and isnt really allowed or something like that.

Alex_is_on_fire as i have stated WE WILL NOT have created a position out of nothing because someone wasnt guaranteed a role at another club. We simply would have given him another position if we think that he is better at another person at something.

Welcome back home indeed!!!

Fannnntastic news. His son or not, it's so great that we have him back.

He has got red and blue blood pumping through the veins. Nothing better in football than bleeding for your club. Best thing Stynes has brought to the club.

Just out of interest and no disrepect to Dean Bailey, but what do you guys think of the idea of having a son play under his father as a senior coach at the Dees?

Would have to be a very big chance of happening at some point over Jack's career given how highly Todd seems to be rated.

Could be wrong but I think the last time it happened was with Dennis Pagan's son which didn't work out too well. Although that was more to do with the fact his son wasn't good enough which doesn't look like being the case with Jack, there is still plenty of potential for conflict of interest.

Woud be very interesting if it happened.

Great news for us, but potentially terrible news for Bailey if we don't start well next year. He's looking pretty lonely against the 80's Club of Stynes/Connolly/Schwab/Viney.

Don’t know how many allies he’s going to have if things start going south next season – especially with one ex-coach and one potential future coach both waiting in the wings.

i don't think it will be an issue, obviously it has the potential to be, but in a proffessional environment i hope it wouldn't be too problematic
