Local Paper says Black Rock have signed Angus Murray(Sandringham Dragons/Melbourne Grammar), Niall Collins(Old Brighton U19s/Brighton Grammar), Christian Woodford(Ormond), Alex Maloney(Ormond), Joel Cook(Monash Blues), Brad Nicholson(Scoresby/Hampton Hammers), Adam Clemente(Highett). Saysd they have a total of 25 new recruits but musn't have listed them all.

So what. Lost Grose, Wilson and White clearly the best 3 in the club.

You must be one of the dozens of "players" Tim has destroyed over the years.

I'd love to see how your career stacks up against his.

OMG, you are too funny.

If i was just out of the under 18's my resume would speak volumes over Tim.

I appreciate you sticking up for a friend, but to suggest that he is any good, is simply just trying to take the mickey out of everyone on the forum.

He is a hack of a player, and as a person, well we will see when the club gets rid of him before his contract expires.

Look forward to hearing some more crap back from you, IDIOT....

if Brad Nicholson can be committed to playing he will be an excellent signing...

will be a few st pauls guys going down to caulfield i would say as new coach has very strong ties with the club and a few very close mates down there... also was speaking to some dingley boys who might be heading down there..

Season 2011 Predictions

1. Highett have recruited well from the country and have a very strong list that should have played off in this years gf.
2. Springvale Districts. Most teams relegated go well the following year and seem to be able to recruit past players back to the club
3. Oakleigh District if they can hold onto Fermanis will go close but will lack leg speed which could be a concern come finals time. Apparently targetted a few older players from Clayton.
4. Black Rock recruited amazingly well and have numerous top line players from the SFL and VAFA. Could be a contender come finals time.
5. Bentleigh have depth through reserves and have a fairly good mix between the old and the new. I suspect they think they are a certainty to win the flag.
6. Skye. Good side with many of the colts coming up. Could surprise and finish quite high but will need a little luck with injuries.
7. Murrumbeena. If they play the right individuals and not put up with certain egos they should be very competitive. Unfortunately the wheels fell off last year and I'm predicting them to follow a similar path.
8. South Yarra. Lost several key players and I just feel will be too old and not enough depth.
9. Hampton Hammers. Similar to South Yarra have too many old players and struggled last year at certian times. Hope there colts can stand up otherwise they could be straight back down.
10. Ashwood. Have 2 maybe 3 good players. Can't see them picking anyone up and will be back down in division 3 very soon.
11. Caulfield. If the rumours are true they are in trouble. No ground, No committee, No players. Enjoy 3rd Division

I wouldn't have thought so mate.

From all talks, I think the club wants to be competitive. No talk of Premierships nor Grand Finals.

Therefore, no need to jump to such false conclusions!

Anyones pre-seasons underway?

I hear Black Rock might be the team to beat... have recruited strong - is Doyles pumping in a bit of money for the flag??

It will be interesting to see how Black Rock go. Lost some big names and coach has ousted a few of the big guns from last year. There is no way Black Rock are spending big on players they just don't have the dosh. Most players have connection with the coach apparently. There is no way they can win the Premiership they will be lucky not to win the wooden spoon

From what i have been told Bentleigh are a very soft team they will be lucky to make top 3:thumbsu:

Although the Dewar boys had a quite year this year by their standards they will be more than capable of doing well in Divvy 2, but the rockers will need to recruit a lot more players to be competitive. And yes they know the coach very well thats one of the reasons their going there...:D

MV,
Please elaborate. I wait with bated breath your pearls of wisdom considering you admit you have not seen them and you are basing your comments on second hand information.

Yes i agree with you but the word is they will struggle with the tougher SFL style of footy!!!

Will be interesting to see how Black Rock shape up next year. Certainly have been busy recruiting, and good on them. The three St. Paul's boys will be very handy pick ups in Div 2. 2 key positions in the Dewar boys and a 6 foot 4 utiltiy/ruckman in Krieger. Should put in place the foundation of a competitive team. However it does take 21 players not 3!!!

Hoping this is not the case, and the rumours are not true. Have been a stalwart of the SFL and a good local club. Now being coached by a great LOCAL footy coach, which i think will really suit the Bears. Best of luck to Scotty and the boys in 2011.

There is more to BRFC than 3 recruits. Have recruited 2 top line 18 yr olds from Sandy Dragons and Old Brighton U19s also numerous other players from various clubs along with 5 from a local VAFA club. Not saying BRFC will win the premiership but should atleast be competitive this season. I doubt there will be a standout side this season and the divsion will be very even.

The last time I checked bumping and tackling was still part of the game in the Ammos. If you are talking about cheap shots and king hits, well they have had their fair share in the Ammos. Suggest you may be just overrating the physicality a tad.

I think you will find Bentleigh will take a while to adjust to the SFL much tighter footy....

It's true, the VAFA is more a free flowing brand of footy, where as the SFL is more contested. We'll just have to adjust, simple as that. We usually play our annual praccy match against Heatherton (except for last year) so we've got a guage for what its like.

Springvale Districts by a golden Mile.

Walker , Vasallo , Charles , Wells , Hall all jumped back on at the Demons !!!

As pointed out to me by a Bentleigh teammate:

SFL news from league website.. division 2:
•Home & away season begins April 9th,
•11 team comp playing 20 rounds.
•Will be the only division to play games on Queen's birthday weekend.
•Finals dates: Sept 3rd/4th, 10th/11th, 17th, 24th Grand Final

Is that Greg Walker? If so, he has had more clubs than Greg Norman.

Other than Vasallo, couldnt these other guys cut it in a better comp?
