All these 'late mail' newspaper articles are ridiculous. The fact is that most clubs would've constructed their lists of who is best available a while ago and would know more or less who they are going to take with their first pick. There isn't all this sudden chopping and changing in the last few days. In fact, I'd hope the Tigers have already made up their mind and aren't basing their pick on the flip of a coin, as some of these newspaper articles make out.

The point is, all the different rumours floating around do most likely emanate from the clubs - however it's all just a game to throw other clubs off the trail. The media just grab whatever they hear and run with it.

Last year we knew Martin would be coming to us at pick 3.
This year, nobody has the slightest clue.

I have a feeling it will be this:

WC Gaff (or Polec)
BL Polec (or Gaff)
RFC Lynch (like him more and more)

I'd be also comfortable with Conca - looks a really smart footballer, knows who to use it, fills a void as Lynch does.

Have no issue grabbing lynch but if they are throwing vickery forward as hardwick and vics have both said I don't see a great need. Vics has always looked a better forward then ruck to me. He has pace, height and good hands. Not sure of his endurance but I think it's a good decision.

All the players we are linked with I would be happy with. Polec looks like a great running player with some inside ability, Heppell is a bit more of a general setting up play but has clean hands in close, Conca has a great temperament is quick and skilled and has a few senior WAFL bogs, Atley is a bit more inside but his kicking isn't as bad as made out and Gaff seems to be the other option who is obviously class but seems to lack that game breaking ability. FJ knows what he is doing and has come up with the goods since we hired him.

the problem with picking conca is not about best available, its that he doesnt have as much potential upside as the other players, he is the safer bet. but to be honest id prefer him over atley or lynch. conca is a footballer, we wont take atley because his kicking isnt what the club is looking for, i hope we dont take lynch because im just not a fan.

still hoping we get polec, or heppells groin concern has nothing to do with the lions going with polec and we take heppell.

Tom Lynch is way to slow. Like he is really really slow 3.3 for 20m most grade 6 kids could beat that. He is the biggest David Hale I have seen in a while and not worth a top ten pick. Would actually prefer using the PP and taking Cook but that ship has sailed.

Please take Caddy or Heppell both will be stars.

I am hearing that Richmond is going tall for its first pick. So unless Day is still around - and wouldn't that be great - it would have to be Lynch

This is the big question..

If the club is convinced Griff will come good, I think we'll go a mid.

If they have doubts, then Lynch becomes a chance...I'll be sad if we get him because of what it implies about Griff.

One article from a random source hardly suggests we are "expected to take Caddy". No doubt this journo is just speculating.

I would love to have Caddy but from all reports Richmond have not spoken to him.

I'd say Caddy would be on par with the top selections and is not totally handicapped. I hear he goes alright with the birdies. He'll have to carry a hanky on the field incase he gets some bogies.

Me too. Am taking this news with a great deal of apprehension.

Conca might be a great player, I just don't know. I fear though that taking a player at 6 who otherwise would have been 15-25 could be just the sort of recruiting disaster that the Tiges are famous for.

I don't like this. Please leave him Brisbane!

He can help us knock down a few eagles, he's a rough player. He'll be fairly green for the most of the 2011 season though.
