I reckon Boak will do enough early to earn himself some cash and be a tradeout for Ablett at round 9

If you're going to spend $470,00+ on someone, wouldn't you rather them be a keeper though?

Couldn't you do ^ thats with someone like Foley/Cotchin and save a spare $100,000+

Exactly. I got mine from here
http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pg-port-adelaide-power--travis-boak

He scored over 100 points in only 45% of his games last year (Only missing two games).

He did good in the pre-season but so what? It's preseason.

Alright then, go with Foley, the guy who's played 18 games in two years and never been a great scorer anyway.

You don't need Boak to score 100 every game (unless it's your sole purpose to win league matches), averages are all that matter for overall. The reason why Boak sometimes gets those lower scores is due to a tag, another preseason under his belt bulking up and learning to deal with them should see this be phased out gradually. You don't need to be in a good team or even be a good player to score well (Priddis says hello) so don't let the fact he plays for Port throw you. He's entering prime age for a midfielder. He's a high draft pick. He's a gun player. And he's had an incredible preseason (you can't simply ignore those numbers because it's 'just' pre-season). He wouldn't be my first choice for a premium mid but he's easily the best in his price range and you could do way, way worse.

Again, if you can find a way to have Swan AND Boak (or try bring in Bartel who's only 28k more, which is what I would do) then you're golden. As someone else said, if he doesn't fire and simply maintains his average, he's an easy upgrade to Ablett at Round 9. If he does fire, you've basically found yourself a 6th mid at a cheap price.

Cotchin maybe. Maybe.

Boak will probably end up my keeper, as the cash from the kids will get pooled together to get Gazzy. Hopefully downgrade Swallow/Prestia/Harris and use that cash + Krakouer's cash to get Ablett and keep em all.

Midfield of Ablett, Swan, Judd, Selwood, Watson, Boak looks decent :)

He faces Collingwood and Geelong in the first 3 rounds should be a good indicator of how he will travel this season, but surely will dip in price. After rd 3 he doesnt face a top 4 side till round 16. I am going to wait and see

Foley sprays the ball, not great for supercoach, and can't imagine boak having a massive year in a very average side.

can I have both cross and boyd in the mids??
Saints players seem to be a no go this year and i've gone off any players that would miss supercoach finals..

Just changed from judd and bartel to burgoyne and someone else???
Why do geelong and carlton both have to have byes in the finals!!

rookies? Im still uncertain about who to get.
just need some ideas. midfield so is juddy, pendles, selwood, and jobe

cheers:thumbsu:

I would highly recommend trading out one of Judd, Selwood or Watson. Thats 3 trades you have to save for sc finals

Take your pick, there are plenty of options and all have the same or similar potential. The expensive rookies like Swallow, Gaff, Conca, Polec will all see plenty of games through out the year. But you could save some coin and go someone like Atly, Beams, Bewick, Harris, Irons. try and get some MPP options in there like Krackuer, Smith, Heppel or Hibberd. Basically close your eyes and point they will all go up in value, it's just guess work trying to figure out who will go up the most.

Wouldn't place to much emphasis on this.Especially with Judd and Selwood. You've got to get there first.

If you win rd1 of the finals you get a bye anyhow.

I don't see why not if you don't have any St Kilda or Lion players in the midfield. Any more than 2 players in one line during the rounds where 3 teams have a bye you will be running a high risk of copping a donut if there are late withdrawls or injuries

I have 103,600 in the bank, need help with my mids though!

Judd, Selwood, Pendlebury, Watson, Higgins, Rookies etc

I am concerned about Watson considering Essendon's tough draw, any suggestions of alternatives would be appreciated!

Cheers!

Josh Kennedy?

TBH I'd be more worried about Higgins.

What's peoples thoughts on Mitchell? Had a fairly random season last year. Anyone think he can be more consistent this year? also with the reduction in points for clangers, might score better this year...

I read an article on the AFL site where Clarkson suggested that the sub rule is going to really impact on players like Mitchell where they're "already at their aerobic maximum" (paraphrasing). So that really doesn't look promising when your coach is saying you're not going to go as well this year because of the interchange rules.

Small-ish dilemma coming into the lockout:

Swan & Cotchin/Kennedy/Foley or Pendlebury & Boak

Loaded up on caffeine and probably over analysing things, haha. (Or am I?)

Cheers!

Probably Pendlebury or BoaK. Swan will be hard to leave out but Pendles should find another gear this year, prob wont reach the hieghts of Swan but could go close. Boak will move into premium status for sure this year, Cotchin might, but the probability is slim.

I like to think Boak is set for a big year.. dont know if id take swan out of my team to afford him though...

Pendlebury and Boak!

That's more or less where my head is at.

Thanks for the advice guys, you've certainly made things more bloody difficult!
