No more topping up with other teams rejects. Especially when they will be turning 25 next year.

Every player we take from here on in should be 23 or younger (preferrably a fair bit younger). We shouldn't be taking in players for 2012, we should be taking them in for at the earliest 2014, maybe 2015-16. Because there is no way our premiership window re-opens before then. And every list management decision we make should be building towards that premiership.

You could maybe consider making an exception for an exceptional player. But the Demons aren't even pretending he's exceptional. They are flat out admitting they don't think much of him.

And then what do we give up for him? I don't want to give up any draft picks for him, at least none below 80.

The only way I could understand this is if we picked him up for free in the pre-season draft. And even then I'd have some concerns.

I have long thought that if your are going to poach a fringe player then it should be one from a top four side. I'd have no issue with us at least looking at someone like Ellis from Hawthorn for example. If we were looking at Demons then maybe Morton just because he is in their best 22 when fit and is just frustrated by injury.

Bate is a pseudo tall forward who can't get a game in a side that is crying out for a hard body in the forward line. Pass.

Straight swap for Hill. Then on the Rookie list?

i am all for taking young players - But FFS Selection Panel and recruitment officers, Get it right for a change ! No more speculation players, athletes etc

Get Blokes who have a chance to bulk up for once, and get blokes that can play footy - Fitness can be worked on, Football Smarts cant ! :)

Well actually with Hall retiring and Grant not showing himself capable of stepping up to becoming a KPP, we will be needing some marking forwards. Apart from Jones, who have we got that can take a mark? Maybe Cordy or panos might come through, but you couldn't count on it.

Bate always seems to play well against us- he's not as good as Jurrah or Watts but he's as good as Hill and maybe Grant.

We have Roughead who has a capable pair of hands and will presumably rest as a forward. Cordy is supposed to be a good mark. Grant was a strong mark as a junior but we are learning exactly how much that means...

Otherwise would we would find useful is a leading small ala Robert Murphy or Brad Johnson.

Well that should of been Walker. I was at the Carlton came today, Walker would be very handy right now for us. What happened to that trade? Carlton remind me of how we used to play. Offensive running, spot on passing skills and defenders always winning 50/50 contests.

Anyway from the list, Cale Morton please. Maybe consider Ellis.

Yes remember all those on this blog who said Walker wasn't worth pursuing. I know Carlton were interested in Everitt at the time. Defintely a missed opportunity.

Wonder if we will be thinking the same thing about Bate next year?

Everitt was offered and Carlton did not want, they got turned off him and they wanted a top 20 pick for Walker which is why Josh Hill was trying to be traded out to Hawks for a top 20 pick, once that was not coming through they called it all off hence why Josh Hill stayed. It was all to hard in the end with our first 2 picks going on F/S.
 
I would settle for a roll of toilet paper for Josh Hill, I would drive him to Sydney for Christ sake just to make sure he went!!!
 
No more fringe players.. We've seen enough junk at the club go for wasted trades/draft picks. Get Panos into the side now and force him to step up, or step out. The club needs to stop being soft on players who cant cut it.
