Re: Who Should We Target At Trade Time?

McIntosh is a good idea for the Tigers IMHO.

I'm not sure what he would cost - but given the midfield depth that you are developing it would be ideal to have a good/decent ruck duo to feed them on a consistant basis.

Vickery/McIntosh would be ideal.

One experienced old head, monster type ruckman and one versatile, mobile, young ruckman.

Firstly would cost too much, probably a 1st rounder at least. Secondly he's had injury issues and is 27 in September this year. Not a good fit.

I agree. In theory, McIntosh sounds great. Realistically, he seems injury prone. No way we can afford to be giving away even a 2nd round draft pick for a 27yo injury prone ruckman IMO, let alone a first rounder.

As much as I cringe at times as we get smashed in the ruck and clearances, we are in dire need of depth in the midfield and small/medium forward areas. This must be obtained via the top end of the draft.

No doubt, this week we will be smashed as much as any week in the ruck/clearances... at least that's what the stats suggest will happen.

Re: Who Should We Target At Trade Time?

I would much rather have a mobile foward ruckman than big mac

Playing Vickery & someone like trengove at Chb with a mobile foward/ruck like clarke would be a better option.

The dinasour day are gone unless your 210cm and very mobile

Re: Who Should We Target At Trade Time?

We obviously need to strengthen our rucks & talls down back so trengrove, clark & luenberger would be ideal.
But geez how bloody good would it be to get Dangerfield! He would complete our midfield beautifully.Premiership midfield no doubt.

We ain't getting Dangerfield full stop, no point targetting, would cost first rounder minimum plus plenty.

Re: Who Should We Target At Trade Time?

Have it on 100% secure authority that we are throwing large money in a front-ended 4 year deal at McIntosh. Unhappy with Goldstein replacing him as long term ruck 1 at North. North not willing to pony up the cash he wants as they're saving for a crack at D Swallow next season.

Thoughts on this as potential?

Interesting.
No doubt the guy can play.

I think he'd be pretty obtainable, NM wouldn't pay a great deal to keep him considering their options and the tambling compo would not be bettered. At his age 27 this year a r1 selection if out of the question and not market rate

Thanks for that!!

Great confirmation we can't get Macintosh with Carlton endorsement. You made it so much clearer.

Try this for clarity, Doc Martin rules and he needs a Ruck partner in his age bracket or younger. So does Cotch and JR as well as Vick for that matter so the Tigers can pay the bills and keep the great players at Tigerland!!

hell no. too old. too damaged. too expensive for nto alot. silly idea. NO.

largely similar about mcintosh. too old. and dont wana pay heaps for him. hes 27. so is tuck. yet tuck alot of us cant see tuck in our next premiership.

Re: Ruck Trade at seasons end?

Lol Jackson for Luenberger...not even Crazy Vossy would be stupid enough to do that. Luenberger was pick 4 in a super draft and is still only 21.

I would suggest our first pick + Jackson and I think even then Brisbane would tell us to get stuffed.

Yep your right there 21 and one of the top rucks maybe the best ruck in the future.

Re: Brendon Goddard Or Someone Else?

Mitch Clark cannot play anywhere except the ruck, as he proves every time he plays anywhere but the ruck.

I'm for low-cost trades as we did with Grigg and Houli. Otherwise, keep using the draft. FJ is in good form there. Geez we need a ruck and key defender something chronic, but Bellchambers I suspect might cost our first-rounder, given Cameron Wood fetched pick 14. No need to be trading that away until we're pushing as a contender.

can he still only play ruck?

HMac is no dinosaur. Bling pick would do it.

That said, would pay that and more to get Vardy. Be nice if we did a Mumford offer...

Tuck isn't 27, he turns 31 at the end of the year, massive difference.

Rucks always take longer to develop, at 27 Hmac would be hitting his peak and would still have a good 4-5 years left in him, he and Vickery would in my opinion be one of the best Ruck combos in the game, Hmac like Vickery has shown he can play Forward and both are quite good around the grounds and take a big mark.

In saying that, I would not give up our Compo pick for him, a lot of talk is that the 2012 Draft is looking like to be a ripper draft, GWS and GCS will no longer have the concessions in that year and the draft will go deep with plenty of quality players to be around for both of our first round picks.

The only possible way we could get Hmac is through Free Agency, he will be in the 8 year 'Restricted Free Agency' window and if we can put him an offer that North cannot compete with then the AFL will give North a Compensation Pick and we can essentially get him for free, we have the room in the cap and the money raised through the FTF will see us get a player through this 'warchest' the club is looking at building.

whoops tuck turns 31 my bad :p

yep I really think we need to keep the compo pick and not use it on an older player. that draft is supposed to be the next 2001 ( i think it as 01 lol)

HMAC is 27 and yet to play 100 games & looks to get injured far too often
This wont improve as he gets older, I could be wrong but in my mind he is not really the long term player we are after not at a pick better than our 2nd rounder anyway.

Vardy,Goldstein,Roughead,Clarke,Luenberger,Gawn,Smith are more the types we should be looking at ......... somebody who isnt getting a go or just about ready.

We have ample room in the cap atm $2 mill over 4-5 years at one of these kids & front load & mill in his first year
(carlton warnock & sydney mumford) seem to geet it done no reason we cant.

Trust me all the above mentioned players will be well worth the money we will offer some would need abit more.

Those players mentioned are worth a whole lot to their clubs and would demand first round draft picks and some even more.

If you are talking about Zac Clarke from Freo that may have some merit - young mobile ruck who has apparently done some good things in the WAFL but stuck behind Sandi and now Griffin. Drafted from the Chargers so a Melbourne boy. No way cats will give up Vardy and Roughead will take over at the Dogs as Hudson winds down. Not sure there is a much of what we want around that will be up for offer.
