I'm inclined to say yes. It was hard to get official AFL numbers in the mid noughties. To get a hold of the 'Richmond font' would've been nigh impossible. Don't quote me on that, though.

If memory serves me right, on the old Richmond auction site they had a very comprehensive history of what they had flogged off. At one stage in the mid noughties, there was a set of jumpers that the club had ordered in the off-season but the numbers were deemed too condensed by the AFL to be properly visible on field. I'm guessing this is one of them.

If true, it's player issue (though never issued!) and an oddball.

These particular jumpers were worn from Rd 1 until Rd 12 of 2005 according to Mero's.

Depending on the accuracy of Mero's numbering, I think the ones in the photo above are actually a bit thinner, which would fit in with what I read.

Club orders skinny numbers, gets rejected, gets wider ones made, still can't make it work, goes back to conventional numbering.

Of course I could also be wrong. But that's no fun ;)

Perhaps... amazingly there was an image from Rd 1 with Coughlan's number!

Compare the pair (same age, same income, same super contribution... :p)

The right hand side of the Drink Drive logo is completely in the sash in the game pic, in the for sale version, it's halfway up.
In the game pic the 4 touches the sash, in the for sale pic, it does not.

This is not the same jumper.
Therefore it is probably not game worn, as Coughlin would have continued wearing the jumper in the pic.
I think Mr E is correct again. it is most likely a first version option that was never used.

I've also traced the 2 from the jumper and pasted over what I believe is the correct sized number on the game worn jumpers. To me, this also supports Mr E's account of events.

Hang on a sec, I remember who traced those numbers and gave them to me back when I was first using Illustrator.
Can't quite remember his name; Rod something.

Can anyone remember what the Fremantle Dockers AFL inclusion was like?

By that I mean: Was the 15th club always going to be based in Fremantle? Was there a talk of a different colour scheme? Was the 'docker' mooted upon announcement?

Basically just a history oriented question. I realise it's not all to do with designs, but honestly, I'm not sure i'd get a decent answer elsewhere on this board.

Fremantle was always the location.

Initial suggestions of colours were just that - mere suggestions by the media. An interesting one was that Freo could use red and white, as the Swans were going to switch to the two-blues of NSW. I saw a mockup logo of the "Fremantle Sharks" in red and white in The Age back in the day (1993-94).

A less serious suggestion: Fremantle would be the home of a relocated Fitzroy... I saw that in a cartoon in The Sunday Age which showed proposed designs for Fremantle Pirates and Fremantle Doctors among others.

An episode of The Footy Show (in its first year, which back then featured "The Cage" containing special guests) had a collection of suggested mascots: Falcons, Pirates, Doctors, Sharks, and one person dressed as a Shitfish (after some guy's suggestion on Street Talk). (Said edition of Street Talk included one guy suggesting "Dogsharks" after South and East Freo.)

The official announcement of name and colours (for many of us in the east) came in mid 1994 (I was in Year 12 at school at the time) on TFS, featuring Mal Brown wearing this ridiculous mostly-purple tracksuit with an anchor design on it. Common reaction was: WTF is a "Docker"? But the colours were hailed as something different, as finally green graced the field.

Hey guys, I'm new to posting on this board after years of following it. Just wondering whether you guys think its worth me creating an account on an image hosting site or just upload my designs freely? Also, what is the best image hosting website? Cheers

(Sorry for bumping an old thread but it seemed most appropriate)

Well firstly welcome to posting!!!

Secondly, yes it is probably best to do that, just for the ease it provides in having your images on it. It also works as a good online backup for your images.

I use photobucket and highly recommend it.

Cheers for the help craegus, much appreciated. I'll take your word and make a photobucket account and start posting some more designs soon :)

Does anyone recall what Freo usually wore at the SCG? We had the purple home strip on today, and I was trying to think what strip we used to wear. Was it the purple home with white shorts? I can only remember Heritage Round 2007 - we wore the Old Easts strip, and we got absolutely annihilated as I sat there with my dad in the cold...

Also - I've queries about these jumpers:

Were they away strips? Clash solutions? I can't remember the specifics.

They're all away strips.
Top one was worn in Freo's first game against Richmond at MCG (R1 1995), of that I'm certain.

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows why Collingwood changed their home guernsey to its inverse in 2001? Has always confused me, coming from a club which prides itself on its heritage and the fact that they have 'never changed their guernsey'.

Wouldn't surprise me, they seem to stuff up everything else they do with Collingwood's guernseys. Stupid collars, curves, cuffs and necks just to get started...

probably created the worst ever crows home in 09 too:

couldn't stand it...

Hey Mero, just wondering if you knew that your jumpers are being used for the "Footy Scores Lite" application iphone/android? Not even the correct ones either.

Is that the Footy Star Lite one on iPhone/iPod? Not the first time I've seen Mero's jumpers used elsewhere (and they are usually always outdated too).
