I won't say I'm his biggest defender/supporter, but I'd be up there.

He won't make it. It's all over.

Yeah, I've been pulling for him to make it for ages. I wanted Longmire to actually give him a game in the forward line. And he did today. And he wasn't even below average. He was honestly useless. There's was one particular play just before he got subbed where he barely even put up a contest after the ball hit the ground.

The biggest insult you can give a footballer is not going when you gotta go, I noticed several occasions when he didnt he pulled out.. I dont like insulting our players so Ill put it down to not reading it well but I will just say, FFS Jesse, youre the biggest bloke on the ground just ****ing smash em!

Yep. I give up after today.

I think everyone is now of the opinion that he has been given ample opportunity to prove himself. I remember you defending him when I had given up on him, so for you to have given up as well, it shows how disappointing he has been. And I think the major source of disappointment for all of us is that he seems to have so many desirable qualities ...

Today's performance was limp and insipid and even if Spangher is still injured, I will be angry if he doesn't get dropped for next week's game.

It seems people have finally woken up to Jesse White about 2 years late, so I'll go back to calling it like it is and stop with the "young and developing" crap which I was forced into adopting to pacify the legions on here. He is simply not good enough

Everyone raves about Reid with good reason but he had only 2 more touches than White.
Leave him in for a few games and if he is still no good , trade him !

Bedford cannot agree at all today.

Reid had a below average day yet held 5 marks and got his possessions either inside 50 or in the mostly in the corridor .

White got most of his softly out wide and worse still... contributed nothing with them. He was beaten in all bar one of his contests inside 50 and that one went sailing very wide right. He may just get lucky there is no one to replace him.

There is just no argument to made in comparison between white and Reid today unless you just want to read the stat sheet without context.

Reid:
4 more marks, 4 more kicks, Got a Goal, Contributed to another and Got 2 Free's.

White:
2 more touches, 2 more handballs, Kicked a behind (same with Reid) and gave away a free kick.

White is reaching 50 games and Reid is closing 20.

Statistically as well Reid is better but White has 50 games in which he does poor in a lot hence his average career stats goes down heaps.

The rave about Reid is because this year he came in, had a bang and the crowd loves him because Reid has potential. White came in 08 but played most in 09 and 10, people felt it early on and in 11' people feel it deep, his got no potential.

Longmire backed him, gave him chances and so did Roo's...White is simply, a 'soft player'

When it comes down to it, White doesn't send a message out, players like him eg. Jetta, they do.

To me, it appears Longmire has hopes for Spangher as White's replacement up forward.

You guys forget quickly it wasn't long ago Reid was dropping a lot of marks and barely offered any contests at ground level..calls started coming from this forum for him to be dropped! Well guess what...how interesting a bit of faith and opportunity shown in him by selectors have turned things around! I've seen enough of Jesse last yr to tell me he can still be dynamic if given enough of a go, but anyway, enough on this topic from me...what will be will be. There's a lot more to worry about the Swans such as their poor general skill errors than just Jesse White!

3 fold.

1: Quote me and mention calls for dropping Reid for dropping marks, so my response, not moi. Check it if you like. To quote Toby Zielgelr on this issue, It's not the battle we lose so much as the ones we don't front up for.

2: Jesse is womewhat older than Reid and does not get the free ride of adjust to the team dynamics. He's at an age where he performs or plays in the seconds, for him Primary School is over and it's not his ability in querstion from e, curtrently it's his effort... a damming thing to say I know but there it is, there is no intensity.

3: Other issues, agree entirely, skills poor from to many in the midfield but as this threads about White there it is.

4: I'd lile to think White can come good, really I do as he can perform above what he has shown but why is he not I said he's got Star quality in his rising star thread and I still hold to this? But something between White and club at the mometn aint right.

Was not aimed at you directly...just had to pick a poster to respond to :)

Re Jesse being a 'spud', tell that Carlton supporter to watch the Syd V Nth game lst yr and tell me if Lachie Henderson can jump half that high!

Gets caught ball watching way too often, too reactive in reading the play and for today too timid in attacking the contest.

Pretty much sums it up.

It was interesting to hear Paul Roos' comments regarding his poor reading of the play, too. Seems to explain why he just doesn't get to as many contests as he should.

Anyway... While I don't think he'll be the player we'd hoped for, I don't see any reason for people to be so harsh on him.

I still think he could make a very good defender. It's just unfortunate for him that we already have a massive surplus in defense at the moment.

The comparison between Reid and White is ludicrous. White is not up to it at the moment. He needs to go back to the ressies and recover his confidence. If he plays at FF he doesn't come back until he has kicked bags of 8+ at least 2 weeks in a row. In the meantime LRT rests at FF.

Surely someone in the coaching staff has told Jessie that he is playing for his career (at least with us) and if that's the best effort he can come up with then clearly he isn't good enough. No doubt it's really tough to have great touch or have good timing of leads when you are in and out of the senior side (like Bevo), but I would have thought the one thing you can control is your agression and desire to play hard. If you know your job is possibly on the line and still can't come ready to play then you don't deserve a start. Send him to GWS...
