A lot of guys had Stanton-itis, kicking into the mark. 4 or 5 in the first half?
Pretty sure they were both in either the 2nd or 3rd qtr. One was at the true CHF position (or CHB, can't remember which way we were kicking), and the other was at the centre bounce. Can you remember when they were? I didn't notice on the night, but if you can give me times I'll have a look on the Game Analyser.
Yes this is a toast thread, and I will kick off by saying that I have actually been pretty impressed with his standard for the past few months (after usually bagging the shit out of him), but I have one gripe from sat night.
On two distinct occasions the ball was there to be won in a tight pack, and all he had to do was put his head over the ball and plow through. Instead, he plain and simply stopped, and let the opposition take the ball when it could have clearly been his.
It was soft, and I hated seeing it from an Essendon player. I can't see how anyone could disagree with me here, I would've said the same had it been ANY player.
That's all I've ever been trying to say in this thread...plus his kicking is far from consistent. A 150 game player like B.S should be doing the hard stuff as well as the 'run free and receive' stuff.
But some supporters just turn a blind eye and think it's acceptable that he is as soft as a day old lammington.
He's not a crap player and he's got a reasonable amount of talent. But he is what he is ( his low level of toughness) and thats what annoys me. And laying regulation tackles is not 'hardness' either..
But some people will just keep on defending him for it's worth. That's fine with me..everyone has an opinion.
He is what he is. I'd love him to be a bit tougher, I'd love him to have elite disposal. Unfortunately he is what he is, and that is good enough to be in Essendon's best 22. Therefore he gets my full support.
We all know Sylvia can let himself down with concentration lapses and bad days, but his stats overall this year are exemplary.
First, he ranks equal fourth in the competition for finding a marking target inside 50. Almost 28 per cent of the time he puts it inside the arc, somebody marks it. Only Hawthorn's Jordan Lewis, Essendon's Brent Stanton and Kangaroos' Andrew Swallow have been better this season.
Great game from stants tonight probably bog. After the last 2 games having to actually tell a couple of essendon supporters to stop bagging hum out, was good to hear none of it tonight.
