Holy ****. Really, really didn't see this coming.

From all reports he was very highly regarded by the club, as evidenced by the faith we showed in him selection-wise, and in he was really enjoying being here.

Where has this come from?

You kidding?

You should have known a guy with the name Ebert was always a flight risk the day you drafted him, we all though he'd come back sooner or later.

It's on par with a Matera, doesnt feel right elsewhere.... (hope you get the other one back)

I'd be stoked if a 3-way deal involving Ebert and Matera could be arranged.

LMAO, Gray for Ebert?

You gonna throw in a first rounder and a gun kid?

Seriously, just LOL.

Will be a fair trade, will be around pick 18-30 IMHO.

Gray for Ebert isn't that far fetched.

pick 18-30 is quite possibly where the trade will end up but I wouldn't define that as fair.

Interesting that GWS havent made a play for him considering they could have got him for free.

Would probably be the best outcome for West Coast too as the AFL's compensation pick would probably be better than anything Port would end up giving us.

Pick 18 -30 would probably be about right.

You might say he was a pick 13 as a draftee we should get more than that, however, he has not come on like a pick 13 so that pushes his value out. He has leadership qualities though.

Port will want him, so give us pick Ebert + Lycett for pick 6?

Lycett is SA and an unknown. Port need a ruck. I reckon they'd do that. It is tempting.

FTR I want to keep Lycett. We need him when Cox retires.

A tad disappointed but not surprised.

Heard a few months ago that Scooter and Shuey had moved out, abandoning their bachelor pad. That and getting dropped leading into Finals - the writing was on the wall.

Hope we get some experience back. Someone who can come into the best 22 for the next 1-2 years would be ideal. Don't like the names I'm hearing though

Good luck, Ebo.

I'd do Lycett and Ebert for 6 and our priority I reckon... (Lycett is a Port Magpie too)

As for Gray, F no. The guy is arguably our most talented player, and Ebert isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

id swap pick 6 for ebert and Lycett anyday. Surely its not a suprise that ebert wants to come to Port..its like us picking a matera kid and wondering why he wants to go to west coast after a couple of years..which he will.

Firstly, let me say I am a huge Ebo fan. Good in the air, tough, chirpy (gives it too his opponants, does a lot of great stuff off the ball)
Secondly, this....
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/eagles/10374138/contracts-on-hold-for-fringe-eagles/
"Ebert hails from South Australia and has natural links to Port Adelaide where his cousin Brett has played 150 games. He is understood to be considering his future after struggling for game time in West Coast's midfield this season.Coaches preferred to play him at half-forward as fellow youngsters Luke Shuey and Scott Selwood showed rapid development around the stoppages.
The change in roles coincided with him being dropped once during the home-and-away season before losing his place again after the club's 20-point qualifying final loss to Collingwood."

So, the way I read it, he gets dropped because he has been overtaken, cracks it then wants out. I am ****ing filthy with him.

I can say a lot more but read the article, make your own mind.

Absolutely filthy, **** off if thats the attitude Ebo.

I am gutted. :thumbsd::mad::(

Lycett ain't going anywhere I hope (needs to be a crossed fingers Icon) :p

Id jump on that straight away, cant see the Weagles giving up Lycett though

Ebert + Lycett for Pick 6 and Port's priority?

You would have to have a long hard look at that.

I want to keep Lycett as well, he will be a good player and ideal back up for Cox.

BUT if you want pick 6, then you have to give up. Would you rather trade Waters or Butler?

Dont be harsh on the kid, the second he got drafted their was uproar from his family in SA.

I was listening to the draft call that day, and his uncle was gutted he'd end up at a club with the culture of the West Coast Eagles (yeah yeah a few years is a loooooong time in footy). You just knew the moment he could walk he would. The name is as Port Adelaide as Alberton is.

I'd never be dirty on a player for that reason. If Port had picked up say a Jakovich/Matera I'd feel for you guys too and would never hold it against the kid if he left.

Heard a few months ago that Scooter and Shuey had moved out, abandoning their bachelor pad. That and getting dropped leading into Finals - the writing was on the wall.

That's when I knew something was up and began to think there is more to this story than being 'homesick'.

We will get shafted in this trade. We don't want any of the players that Port are willing to part with, and their picks aren't anywhere near the value that Ebert is worth. (they won't give up pick 6 and rightly shouldnt for Ebert)

That was the worry when he was first drafted, yes, but all the talk was that Brad loved it over here at WC and wasn't likely to go anywhere anytime soon.

Really disappointed.

Those suggesting Lycett and Gray may switch clubs are mad.

As many have pointed out, Port's second rounder may be enough to get the deal done.

FWIW I rated Ebert and I think he still can make it, but he's someone we can lose - as long as we get a good deal in return.

I sure as hell don't want Motlop though. Anybody else thinks Surjan may be a candidate for trade?

I think 28 + a player is pretty fair.

He's a solid player, who will add to our side, but I wouldn't want to pay too heavily. It would be extremely surprising if he did end up in the PSD.
