I'd love one too. I don't think they've ever been released for general sale though, kind of like a baggy green deal. My primary school had the exact same design as our SAPSASA guernsey, minus the SANFL logos and all that of course. Should've flogged an XL one.

I managed to grab one a few years back before a SANFL state game, and it is still in my wardrobe and no it isn't for sale!

The best AFC alternate jumper that I have seen was the one produced for the trial game against Norwood before the2007 season. Far and away the best. It's a shame they were produced for this one game only, as they were all auctioned off in aid of the Crows Foundation. Basic colour was white, but they looked great.

Have you got a picture of it. I can't remember what it looked like. That game spelled the end for Adelaide vs SANFL teams. We beat them by 170 I think.

I've got one of those I might try and upload a photo of it.

Imagine if we made the GF and the AFL made us wear that white monstrosity

I have always liked this one for some reason. The Crow looks hungry and aggressive !

Looks OK in its own right, but when the team wears them onfield they look like 3 different teams, depending on the angle you see them. Some variations of the St Kilda guernsey over the years has had the same problem.

Yeah understand that. Perhaps an all yellow background with red trim or if we play teams with yellow colours, all red background with yellow trim.

The more I see the inverted home strip, the more I want it as our away strip. Simple, effective and is lightly coloured to please the AFL.

As mentioned before, we could also use this State of Origin type strip for our clash. However, perhaps we could replace the monogram, with CROWS written across the front in a contemporary, edgy font. Not sure how these designs would go for an away game against say Hawthorn, but I guess that could be sorted out.

I don't mind them having a white jumper - there are actually a few teams with whom we have quite bad colour clashes at times.

The issue I have is with that hideous raptor's head wrapped around it. Remove the logo that only appears to the infantile and come up with something decent. That's my suggestion.

Agree.

Most every club has a predominantly white away guernsey now. That's just the way it is. Ours isn't perfect but it does serve the purpose of avoiding clashes with home teams, which is what it's designed for, and what every other away guernsey we've had failed to do.

The only problem with it (other than the Raptor's head) is the socks. The socks are different, and I dont undertsand why they need to be. Stick with the hooped socks regardless of the strip.

Those guernseys Thommo51 posted are ok - the problem is they wouldnt serve a purpose as a clash guernsey.

Unless your away guernsey is predominantly white, it's going to clash with a number of other teams.

If you're going to wear just variations of a red, gold and blue design, it defeats the purpose of having it. May as well just wear the traditional strip with white shorts and be done with it.

It has to be white, folks. No way around it.

This is it:

Would need a bit of tweaking though. The bottom half would have to be white as well. You would end up with something like this which I mocked up years ago: (ignore the socks... don't know what i was thinking!)

I didn't mind it at the time, but I'm now against white jumpers for us. I think it should be the inverted home guernsey with yellow as the base, or the 05 heritage. HAS to be a yellow jumper IMO.

Agree the inverted home strip probably wouldnt work.

I disagree. What teams would a yellow clash jumper still clash with?

West Coast would maybe be the only one if they wear their tri-panel. But thats a stretch I think. Richmond maybe another, but I don't see why we don't just wear the home strip against them anyway seeing as they always wear their home strip against us. Carlton are the same. They don't wear their clash against us, so we shouldn't need to against them. That said I think its probably better if we do.

The only teams we really need it against IMO are probably Brisbane, Carlton, Essendon and Melbourne. Maybe Fremantle as well.

We do NOT need it against Gold Coast, St. Kilda, Hawthorn or Western Bulldogs!

Clash jumpers are a necessity, but not for every single away game!!

West Coast, Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast.....?

In almost every other sporting comp in the world, one team wears colour, one team wears white. We've already had umpteen away guernseys that were variations of red, yellow or blue and they didnt work. How many more do you want to design and consign to the archives?

Actually I would have thought it was "In almost every american sporting comp"

A yellow jumper wouldnt clash with any of the home strips you mention. And if you think yellow is too close to the suns red, we'd wear our home jumper. Thats why its a 'clash' strip.

Regardless, I think you're fighting a losing battle. TV networks prefer white v colour, and so do viewers.

Dont get me wrong - I'm not a huge fan of white alternate strips, or any alternate strips for that matter. It is just a commercial reality, unfortunately.

Not sure about this. The problem has been with similar strips- I dont think anyone has said one needs to be white. There just needs to be contrast.

The white jumpers may stick, but for now I think its a phase. If we wore a yellow clash and it was popular, watch the other other teams follow suit (those who dont have white in their colours anyway)

All that said I dont hate the crows foundation jumper. The problem is our cartoon bird.

Actually that ain't bad (except the socks), could potentially clash with Geelong or Carlton (more so for the players - that micro second glance, you see blue and white - so perhaps remove the bottom blue hoop !)

As you noted in another post, it's all about the money - you noted the need of the TV networks for a red vs colour option. What you forgot to consider is that the club turns these designs over on a regular basis deliberately - not because the design has failed, but because doing so maximises their ability to market replica jumpers to the fans.

The club has a history of keeping most of the away jumpers for 3-4 years, noting that the AFL mandates a minimum period of 2 years. 3-4 years is long enough for a particular design to reach saturation point in the market, after which the sales begin to fall off because everyone (who wants one) already has a jumper of that design. Releasing a new jumper refreshes the market and sales go back up again.

Rest assured, we won't have to worry about the white abomination for too long - the only question is what they'll replace it with.

That is the other reason, yes.

And I hate it, passionately. With every new jumper you wear, they become more and more meaningless.
