That would be a good idea. Who you got in mind? Yagmoor or perhaps Wellingham??

Been worn by distinction by Barham and Monkhorst (cant recall who wore it between Monky and Davis though).........and the captain prior to that.

Its an important number. I would like it to be offered to an established player rather than thrown on a whim at Fasolo or a young aboriginal player......one likely to play a lot of footy and one with a strong team ethic. But still young.

Maybe Steele Sidebottom? Or Ben Reid?

(Offerng it to Heath Shaw would be a nice twist of fate. After all list was his dad who first refused the number when apointed Captain back in about 1978. And after that of course Uncle Tony was captain and never wore 1. Would be nice touch of irony go full circle and give 1 to a Shaw who wont ever be captain).

Haha, there is no way it will go to Witts (although I love the idea of a ruckman having it...). Gee, if Witts got it, it would completely feed the hype machine around this 19 year old kid from a non-football playing state who has played around 15 games of football in his entire life...

Fasolo is looking for a new number (unfortunately - I reckon he should stay with 35) so would be a chance.

If we retire it for Davis, in 10 years there will be players pulling on numbers in the 70's.

Number 1 has to be respected.
Previous players were either Captain or 10 year players (Life Members), so we should ensure the number will be worn by a future champion/10 year player.
Whoever wears it has to earn it.
