Flaming lips at 2004 Adelaide BDO was pretty crazy and great end to the day.
Pornland were always good too.

I'm 18 and have been to 9 concerts so far, 5 of which featured the John Butler Trio, and two featuring the Living End.

In order of best to worst
1. U2, Telstra Dome, 18/11/2006
Massive crowd, massive stage, massive songs, massive show. Absolutely amazing and worth the wait. Biggest concert I've ever been to (easily) and it was fantastic.

2. John Butler Trio, Palais Theatre, 9/12/2005
My first JBT concert, and it was amazing. Betterman went for almost 20 minutes due to the very cool double-bass and drum solo's, and the atmosphere was really fun and exciting. The crowd was a mixture of everything, there was a drunk teenager next to us, an old couple behind us, two lesbians infront of us (who started making out at one stage), a middle aged bloke to our right and a hippie just down the row. This concert turned JBT into my favourite band.

3. John Butler Trio, Festival Hall, 24/8/2007
Again. really fun and exciting, lots of additions to the songs, and some older stuff as well that blew our minds (Valley). Was only a couple of meters from John Butler.

4. John Butler Trio, Federation Square, 5/4/2007
An one and a half hour concert at Federation Square for free, in front of 10,000 people playing with an endless list of different musicians, very cool. Now comitted to dvd where I make a brief appearance.

5. The Tea Party, Palais Theatre, Tuesday night/2/2003
My first concert, very loud and I have almost no memory of it. I would have been the youngest there at 14, but it was good.

6. John Butler Trio, Palais Theatre, 23/8/2007
Good conert, but the fun atmosphere of his other concerts wasn't there, in part because we weren't allowed to stand up. Still a very good performance though.

7. The Living End, Festival Hall, 19/5/2006
Not much recollection of this, due to getting dehydrated in the mosh and having to rehydrate myself for half the concert from the back. Thank god they filmed it. All Torn Down was good, as was West End Riot.

8. Make Poverty History, Sydney Myer Music Bowl, 17/11/2006
Good concert in that we saw a lot of bands for free, but they were never on for longer than 25 minutes (with the exception of Jet, who were sh*t anyway). John Butler Trio, Evermore, Hilltop Hoods and UJam (U2/Pearl Jam) were all very good, and Paul Kelly was respectable. Found oput that Eskimo Joe, despite the potential of their songs, are boring live, as is Sarah Blasko.

9. Live'n'Local, Rod Laver Arena, sunday night/September or October/2005
Not bad for a free concert. Spiderbait was good and The Living End were very good, the rest were pretty boring.

Best;
The White Stripes - Hyde Park June 2007

Close to;
Arcade Fire - Glastonbury June 2007 (seeing them again at the third of their 3 sold out nights at Alexandra Palace on Monday, can't wait)
Of Montreal - Scala London July 2007

Over the last 3 weeks I've been to a whole heap, but can't really rate them highly until I think more about it, but Cold War Kids, The Shins and Editors were all bloody good.

best festival I've been to was Alternative Nation '95
- Tool, Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails, Primus, Live, The Tea Party, Violent Femmes, Lou Reed, Ween, L7, Pennywise, Ice-T, Bodycount, The Flaming Lips, Pop Will Eat Itself, Regurgitator, Powderfinger...
That was a pretty friggin' huge lineup. Tool, FNM, Primus, Ice T and Ween were awesome. It took ages to get into Olympic Park and as they opened the gates it started pissing rain. Call of the day was my mates girlfriend at the time after half an hour of standing still waiting in line in solid rain "My ticket is bent and soggy. Just like me".

Myself and my friends ended up going home, having showers and getting changed into a stack of warm clothing. We were the envy of a great number of people that day.

Best? Not sure. There's plenty of contenders;

Wilco @ Metropolis in Freo '07;
Eric Clapton (playing heaps of Derek & the Dominos stuff) '07
U2 @ Footy Park '06 (being 5m from the front, centre of the stage helped!)
Radiohead @ the Perth Entertainment Centre '98
Ryan Adams @ the Palace '05 (able to be relived with having the full show on cd in a full soundboard recording)
Stooges @ BDO 2006
Beasts of Bourbon @ Perth BDO '97 (remember when that was going to be the last ever? The Beasts played what would've (and should've been) the last BDO set ever)

Most surreal gig I've ever been to, and not because of the music, but because of the crowd was Radiohead when they toured for The Bends. Again, at Metros in Fremantle, and there were about 80 people there. Hard to fathom now. Great gig though.

Been to heaps but i'd have to say that the one i enjoyed the most was The Tea Party at 21st Century in Frannger about 10 years ago. The show went for hours...just fantastic.
Expensive taxi ride home tho

5. Kevin Borich, Santana and Fleetwood Mac at Calder c1980

1. Deep Purple, Free and Mannfred Mann at Festival Hall c1969

2. Yes at Festival Hall c1975

4. Kevin Borich at Elsternwick footy Oval c1981

3. Led Zeppelin at Kooyong c1972

6. Dave Warner somewhere in Melbourne

Best live show I have seen was Henry Rollins at The Old Greek Theatre in '88(?) Un-trucking-believibly intense live show.

The others;

Mark Of Cain
Iggy Pop
The Stooges
The Ramones
Violent Femmes
Sticky Filth
Painters and Dockers
Trilobites
Bad Seeds
Cosmic Psychos

* I saw Rollins Band a number of times but the best was the first at the Prince Of Wales Summer 1988 (?) clearest loud music I'd ever heard.

First BDO in Melbourne - great line up great sound

The Bum Steers

Sacred Cowboys

U2 in 2006- Perhaps a little too stage-managed, but a fantastic show. The band sounded huge and Bono was spot on, with the crowd going nuts. The world's biggest band sounding just as big.
Pearl Jam- I think it was about 2003. It was the first time I saw them and my first big gig. Eddie sounded even better live than he does in the studio, and he was making funny Howard/Bush fellatio jokes

Lots of others but those two stick out

I can't choose one!
Eagles, U2, Elton, Elton and Billy, Iron f'n Maiden or Metallica

The most fun at a concert:
Muse.............Rod Laver 2007
Marillion.........Hammersmith Odeon 1983
Simple Minds...Somewhere in Melb circa 1986
Flaming Lips....Festival Hall 2009
Motorhead......P.O.W. 1985?

Best show and musicianship:
Pink Floyd....Rod Laver 1988
Muse ..........Festival Hall 2006
Kraftwerk.....Princess Theatre 198?
Elbow..........Palace 2011

Most disappointing.:
U2..................Etihad 2006
Duran Duran.....Who cares
Human League..Who cares

Some of my faves were

The Clash, The Damned, Dead Kennedys (83), The Cramps, Killing Joke, Social Distortion, US Bombs, Die Toten Hosen, Rancid, Turbo A.C's, Siouxsie, Buzzcocks.

*sigh* too many to mention :)

**** yeah, love DTH with a passion. Would have loved to see them in the late 80s/early 90s around their real 'peak', even though they still kick arse.

Umm..

U2 - Adelaide 1989
U2 - Adelaide 2006.. oh 1989>>2006;)
The Eagles supported my Melissa Ethridge Adelaide 1996 i think.
Kiss - Adelaide 1995
Phil Collins - Adelaide 1989
The Models - Gold Coast 1985

I saw Shihad last Friday at the Espy in Melbourne... For a smaller band who don'r play many shows in Melb anymore, certainly know how to put on a great show!
May not be up to the levels as some of the stadium shows you guys have mentioned, but definitely up there as my fav live band
