I think it's been on already, just heard a 10 second snip in one of the news updates. Just saying he's hoping to get picked up in the draft and give it another crack and is keen to help a club win a premiership. Said he'd really, really, really like to get picked up.

OK so in a nutshell he has got his life back on track with a steady apprenticeship/job and is very keen to get picked up again.

Played last year at old carey and him and his mentor have wrote to every AFL club and sent them a DVD of his year at Carey if I heard correctly.

Carl reckons he is much more likely to go in the PSD and his mentor who I cant for the life of me remember his name said that we are looking at him again but probably as a rookie.

Isn't there some rule about re-listing/rookie-ing players after 12 months? Anyone know the details of this rule and if we have the opportunity to take Carl through this?*

*assuming we're interested.

Burnt us, massive pity.

I'd love him again, but seems he would be thinking "this is my last shot will make it work", which sort of comes across for some reason as he's done his dash to me. Been there done that

It'd be great if we could get him in rookie draft again because we chased matt campbell and failed so we're obviously looking for a small forward and he would be perfect. It'd also mean that cyril and whitex can spend more time in the middle and add some pace there.

I don't believe we were ever chasing Matt Campbell. It was a ruse.

If Peterson has turned his life around, then he'd be worth a rookie spot, but after burning 2 shots already, I'd have no issue with us not taking the risk again.

Nope. Sorry Chubbs but once you walked you walked. Hope you get picked up but too much risk being burned twice.

Burnt us... he was a rookie and speculative pick.

I'd take the kid back in a heart beat if he is willing to knuckle down and do the hard yards.

Alright here it is:

31A.1 Application for Relisting

(a) A Player and Club may apply to the General Manager – Football
Operations for a special ruling that the Player who has been or is to be
delisted from the Club may be relisted by the Club.

(b) Such application may be made at any time up to October 17 in the year that the Player is to be relisted.

31A.2 Grounds for Relisting

(a) Permission will only be granted under clause 31A.1 if the Club and
Player can satisfy the General Manager – Football Operations in his
absolute discretion that exceptional and compelling circumstances
apply.

(b) It is a pre-condition to the granting of approval that the Player spent no more than one Season removed from the Club’s List and that the Player
did not receive a Football Payment by the Club during this time.

(c) It is a further pre-condition that if the Player was on the primary List, he must be relisted on the primary List.

31A.3 Approval Procedure

Where a Club proposes to transfer a formerly delisted Player back onto its
List, the following procedure shall apply:

(a) an Officer of the Club shall as soon as practicable, and no later than
October 17 in the year that the Player is to be relisted, complete an
“Application to Relist a Player on a Club’s List” in the form prescribed in
Schedule 1 as Form 38 (Application);

(b) the Player shall sign the Application as evidence of his consent to being
listed on the Club’s List;

(c) the Officer of the Club shall lodge the Application with the General
Manager – Football Operations, together with supporting evidence giving
full particulars of the exceptional and compelling circumstances which
apply;

(d) the General Manager – Football Operations may in his absolute
discretion, approve or disapprove the listing of the Player on the Club’s
List or require further evidence prior to determining whether to approve or
disapprove the Application; and

(e) where the General Manager – Football Operations gives his approval,
the Club shall include the Player’s name on the list submitted in
accordance with the Player Rules.

If I read that correctly, basically if Hawthorn and Carl agreed to re-list him we could have put him back on the rookie list, but this had to be done before October 17. Ah well, there goes that option.

Good work finding the rule I had no luck, must have had a boys look.

On that rule I would have thought Carl wouldnt have qualified anyway as I dont exactly know how his case was exceptional. Maybe someone can clarify that not that it matters anyway.

Travis Tuck is another story though, surely his circumstances would fall into the ruling.

Would appeal to sheedy I think.

Guy needs to improve his tank to go with his ability and application.

For all the talk about application, you got the feeling he put in onfield just his tank was stopping him take it up a step

never forget his big smile as he came over an hi fived the kids after the collingwood win

I'd like to have him back. If he's going to make it work a familiar environment wouldn't hurt. Certainly good enough and if it fails again what have we lost? 12 months on a rookie spot, bad luck.

If Carl gets picked up by another club - good luck to him and that Club.

My feeling is and I posted this in another thread.

Do the hard yards and play for BHHs in 2012 and if he does EVERYTHING RIGHT go for him in 2013:thumbsu:
