Nah, in fact I think you'd find that's an awesome number for this time of year.
Membership figures don't close till halfway through the home and away season, so we still have good 6 months to build up the numbers.
I expect a small increase on last year, we might get close to 75K.
9000 more than this time last year, should be able to break 70,000 members again this season

I'm guessing that a membership count of 49334 in December basically means that 49334 of the pre-existing 70K+ members have renewed.
And that means that 20K+ of our existing members are either yet to renew, are now bankrupt or destitute, have moved abroad, or have died.
Our membership drive has been very strong in recent years, helped along by our on-field success. Have we reached saturation levels yet?
This year we have the pull of Buckley which may account for a few. There'll be a few lads and lasses who have finally earnt their first pay packet, and what better way to invest it than on a Collingwood membership? We'll probably get a few in Western Sydney who are disillusioned with NRL, would prefer to follow a successful team than GWS, and can't identify with those silvertails at Sydney.
And there'll be the "New Australians" who have recently arrived to our shores and want to assimilate. Throw in a few new North Korean spies for good measure (welcome to Collingwood fellas). We may get back up to 70K.

Hmm, I reckon a few might drop off but some new ones will jump on. We'll get around the same 72,000
If we (hopefully) manage to go all the way in 2012 I rekon 100k is possible for 2013 as it stands I know more non member supporters so look at the untapped resource still available

49K is exceptionally good for this time of year so I don't understand the negativity.
At the same time, with 3-game memberships and other cheapy deals, I'm not sure that raw figures mean much. I'd be much more interested in $total figures for each club.

Why doesnt the website show it this year.. was great to watch it climb to a record last time n no doubt inspired ppl to buy one. Perhaps waiting till the commercial is shown. anyone know when that is?

They said the commerical would be out in time for the NAB Cup, which is now only about a month away, so I'd say we'll release it to coincide with the re-emergence of the Fox Footy Channel, and flog it on there.
I read or heard somewhere (cant remember sorry) that our total had past 51k that was 2 weeks ago?
