I played Ammos in the 80s
I started this thread after reading the Official 2011 Jumpers thread where someone commented on one of the colours being too Light.

I have gone through Illustrator converting Pantone chips to RGB colours, for use in Paint and Photoshop.
This is not an exact science but it's pretty close.
Certainly closer than guessing from watching on TV or looking through AFL photos.
What I have here is the team, and the RGB values of each colour.
So, Adelaide for example uses three colours, Blue is RGB value 5,23,63
If you can't figure of what that means, PM me. Where there is a "-" that means it moves on to the second colour. Adelaide's Yellow is RGB 242,0,23 and their Red is 255,214,0. And the same for every club.
You will notice that colours are often repeated, that's because plenty of teams share exact shades of certain colours.
Adelaide's Red is exactly the same as Melbourne, Sydney and the Bulldogs, but Essendon and Freo use a different Red, while StKilda and Gold Coast are different again. (PMS 185, 186 & 485)
These are based on the official AFL colours.
Possibly the jumpers look different in certain lights, namely cloudy day, birhgt sunlight and artificial stadium lights.
However, this is what they should be made up as, according to the AFL Licensing Dept.

Not anymore, Melbourne has opted for a new metro pink-red. :p

Awesome resource, thanks. :thumbsu:

Re: AFL Colours

Great work! I assume this is just jumper colours? For example - The orange in the west coast logo. Fremantle only purlpe and white this year.

Re: AFL Colours

Good point Chuck
Here is a list of teams who have other colours in their logos, and what their RGB values would be.

Adelaide (Blue) 10,41,114 The lighter Blue shadow sections are White set to a transparency of 20%
Brisbane The lighter Maroon is White set to a transparency of 20%
Collingwood (Red) 255 , 214 , 0 - (Blue) 14 , 43 , 141 - (White) 255 , 255 , 255 - (Gold) 193,169,70
Essendon (Light Silver) 201,201,196 (Dark Silver) 130,133,133
Richmond (Red) 252 , 25 , 33
West Coast (Ochre) 237,81,0

Re: AFL Colours

Great stuff Mero. I also have something like this made up - it's a work in progress though as there aren't a heap of readily available RGB colours around.

I've got a list here - the formatting obviously doesn't work very well and I don't have the time to fix it - but the RGB's are there if you want them.

Re: AFL Colours

Wests Tigers: Orange – 247, 104, 49

I think the orange in the tigers jersey this year is closer to 250, 105, 16 (it is more of a bright burnt orange), their logo colour changes depending on the version of the logo (even some of the logos have different shades of orange in the one image).

Re: AFL Colours

Do you have the PMS list, Mero?

Also, Essendon's red definitely isn't as dark as Melbourne's.
It's not as pink either.

Re: AFL Colours

Anyone who thinks the Demons' red is pink is colour-blind. It is RED, FFS.

Lol, didn't watch the game in round 1? Had a clear pinkish shade to it.

Pictures do not give justice to what you saw when you watched on tv, in the shade and a bit closer up it did look red, zoom out and bam, pink.

Many people saw the same thing, here the footy guernsey board regulars were talking about;

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=804676&page=54

Two options, watch the game, or if you did, you should be the one to get your eyes checked.

Re: AFL Colours

It's not exactly pink, more like one of those colours in between red and pink like crimson or "cardinal" (just found that one on wikipedia under shade of red and I think it's pretty spot on).

Re: AFL Colours

I watched the Round 2 game on TV and it looked closer to red than to pink.

This is pink:

If that's what you're seeing on Melbourne jumpers, that's concerning.

Pink is a far broader colour range than your ignorance is implying.

No one is saying it is straight out pink, I even said in the shade and close up it does look a standard deep red. However, zoom out and in the sun, you can clearly see a degree of pink in the guernsey.

Re: AFL Colours

No need to get personal.

Besides, red is the colour with the range, pink is merely a tint of red.

I do, but I'm less comfortable posting that, as that's the sort of thing the AFL gets antsy about.
With that, you could produce your own commercial quality products.
Not saying regulars here would, but it leaves it open to anyone else.
PM me an email address if you'd like what I have.

Re: AFL Colours

This is brilliant. Thank Mero.
Do you have a best estimate for Australia's International Rules jumper?
Are the PMS numbers posted anywhere?
thanks again.

Navy 5, 23, 63 (same as Adelaide, West Coast, Geelong & Melbourne)
Green 0, 102, 94 (PMS 3305)
Gold 255, 194, 17 (same as West Coast)
It looks as though Ireland wear the same Green and Gold we did, so they're the same.

Re: AFL Colours

No, Essendon is PMS 485, Melbourne is supposed to be PMS 186, though I don't know if it's supposed to be darker since the release of the new logo.

It doesnt make that much of a difference
