Thought this deserved its own thread.

Greg Philips presented the 35 to John McCarthy

Trevor Obst presented the 7 to his grandson Bradley Ebert

Gavin Wanganeen presented the number 20 to Chad Wingard

and

Warren Tredrea presented the number 34 to Jarrad Redden

Two absolute greats of the SANFL and two of the (if not) greatest to ever pull on the Black, White, and Teal presented to the newest debutants of the PAFC.

Fantastic video - our club continues to do so well at engaging supporters by making these inner sanctum moments accessible to all of us.

How good did Greg Phillips look - seems to have lost so much weight:thumbsu:.

And chuffed that Wangas presented to Wingas.
 
Echo the sentimonys in thread and implore anyone who hasn't seen it to do so.

Such a great feel around the club at the moment.

Interesting that on Footy Classified last night they had a go at Gary Lyon for the way the jumper presentations were done for Melbourne before their game. For those that didn't see it, it was just the players in a circle on the ground near the boundary with GL in the middle handing out the jumpers. Didn't make it anything special at all for the new players.

Loved the way we did it with just their team mates, family etc. in the rooms and thought given to who would present each jumper i.e. Trevor Obst to Brad. Wingy was really stoked to get his presented by Gav. Made it something for the players to remember, especially with the win :D
 
I wondered why this hadn't been mentioned yet. Such a great vid.

All the players seem so happy and privelidged to be here. I'm so impressed by McCarthy's attitude since he's come to the club. The mood is so positive at the moment. I love it.
 
That is an outrageously awesome video for the club to release to the supporters - great work by Tredders too, impressed by how he spoke about the club and the expectations for Port Adelaide players.

Yep, that is a pretty awesome video. I started clapping at the end there with the rest of the crowd without thinking haha.

What i would give to know what Wanga's said to wingard, just appeared more than the stock standard, "congrats mate all the best today and for the career"
 
More port Adelaide legends, stuff it, if we haven't swayed the other supporters yet, we never will. Instead of trying to grow our supporter base its time to man up AMD run with the, you either hates us or love us. The history thing is coming round but more and more port greats need to be more accesable. Ild love to hear Rohan Smith at half time or Randal Gerlach in the stands...

And in fact, this is what will grow it.

Can't place a solitary example of a successful sporting organisation in any other sport worldwide that is expected to be apologetic and indeed distance itself from its very accomplishments and raison d'etre.

Complete and utter madness.

"People hate you because you won all the time, Port. So best you pretend not to be Port, only talk about the last 15 years and Stalinise everything and everyone that got you to this point in the first place - then and only then will 30000 more people materialise out of thin air and support you every week."

With an establishment mentality like this is it any wonder that in the space of a generation this state has gone from #3 behind NSW and Victoria to miles behind the likes of Queensland and WA with Tasmania one apple-boom away from knocking on our door.

Well, he just got to shake Gavin Wanganeen's hand!

If Wangas said that to almost anyone while shaking their hand, they'd probably adopt the same blank grin that is used when Prince Philip has just let loose another humdinger.
 
I think Wangas said something along the lines of "Get a haircut mate those slits in the side of your head look ridiculous" :p

But anyway how much of a difference does 6 months make. Last september we were near the bottom of the ladder, looking like nothing good was ever going to happen to us. Now we have a big group of talent re-signed, Emerging youngster ala Redden, Young and Newton, new talent ala J-Mac, Ebert and a player that we never thought would fall to us in the draft Chad Wingard. Not to mention we knocked off St Kilda on the weekend. Sends shivers down my spine thinking about the future.

His public speaking has improved to ridiculous levels since retiring. Should have a position in the Fox Footy stable.

We done what the best sides do, improved our list with youth and experience. We got two lads 22 years of age with a lot of AFL experience already, we actually attracted them away from their clubs and add to those two a premiership Rickman. We unearthed youth in Redden, able to snaffle another first round tallent to add to Butcher, Hartlet, Trengove and Boak. Improved our coaching and support staff, let's hope they all stick together and develop a winning culture and impact our club like Williams, Bailey and Walsh did early last decade. Pickard and Vis on side, one of the best gurnseys in the league...
