3 regulation misses by Simpson, 1 from Eddie
Robinson trying to take on and evade tacklers and bombing forward 50 entries blindly to opposition players,
Mcleans tumble punts forward to opposition players and 1 foot handballs which put his team mates under the pump.
Tuohy dropping easy mark,
Bower's defensive efforts and general decision making and skill level,
Every player that never went when they had to go etc.....
That is the thing - every player was poor. Hendo was BOG but did some bad things
cannot drop all 22

Stunning logic after they did the hand signal and wore the same boots in smashings of Richmond, Brisbane and Collingwood.

Footy supporters are goldfish. One week Ablett's the best mid ever. The next week, he's shut down by Andrew Raines.

:D

I see Nahas is wearing similar fluoro boots. I think this tells us the fact our three amigos are wearing them is not about lairising, but perhaps could be a sponsorship thing.

I thought the Drive Tackle on Carrazzo was a low act. I've watched it several times now and there was no doubt the intention was to injure the player rather than to gain possession of the ball. Hopefully the AFL will come down hard on that rubbish. and issue a big "Please Explain" to the EFC. Can't believe that stuff is happening in 2012. Unbelievable. Makes me sick. Bad for the game.

:)

failed to defend and be accountable and force contested football and apply pressuer and play in a manner making it easier to apply pressure. Gone back a few years to the way we used to play against this club.

Pretty sure there's a rubbish thread for this on the AFL forum.

Quite frankly though I can understand your anger/frustration re: yesterday's result. There's nothing worse than having excellent form one second to not bothering to show anything the next week. Expectations from all sides was huge. Essendon's pressure was excellent all day but I was waiting for you guys to step up, yet there was no real spark. I was at the second Blues vs Dons game last year and saw your team tear it up! Judd was gold (love Judd), betts killed it and we had no answers. That form is still there and I'm sure it'll come back next time we meet.:thumbsu:

Yep was the Dons day yesterday, stuck to and executed their plan, I think if we had of got those goals early in the 3rd we may have lifted ... but you guys held firm

Cheers

Essendon should have lost because Alwyn Davey wore white boots.

The white boots help Davey run ahead of the play and look better than he is.

People might say that the great Carlton teams showed arrogance. This is true but it was a ruthless style arrogance and belief in their ability - not lairising.... and they won premierships.

This team, so far, has done nothing and should be looking to be a cold, ruthless, determined 'unit' !

This is it. Carlton arrogance i love, but you need results on the board. Of course the teams of the past could have that air about them, because they had 7 premierships in a 19 year period.

thank the lord reimers did not get a start

Jibberish, really hard to follow - dont tell me to grow up - the coach has come out and flat out agreed with my points - so step back, there are some seriously pissed people, especially at the club. So they damn well should be.

If you think the 95 team was as shit as you are saying your just trying win an argument by sacrificing all reality - one of the greatest seasons of all time stupid, stupid comment.

You just want to dismiss a bloody ordinary performance - I can assure you the coach wouldn't, the team wouldn't and any supporter with an ounce of integrity wouldn't.

Just wanting to put shit like that aside reeks of mediocrity - I can smell the second place attitude from here.

There is no chance on earth - NONE we will win a flag with the effort put in last night - none.

Too new in here to agree with your reference to another as jibberish - but I am amazed at the rose colored glasses a lot of posters in here display. Also amazed at the total lack of recognition of a lot of peoples disgust and dismay at what we saw.

totally agree with your criticism of the side.

Real suporters analyse and criticise and are realistic about the team they follow.

The Essendon game was the test of where we really are.

We failed the test specifically in three areas

1. Lack of hardness
2. Another example of being outcoached
3. Shocking selections in Mclean and Bower ..again

I pointed out Bombers lack of respect about Carlton he showed on 360. He said they had a plan - and in the end the plan was simple old school - stick it to Carlton and watch the girls blouses go to water.

malthouse is n fan of Carlton - and he saw the tackle on Carrazzo and commented bluntly it was a RANk effort.. meaning it was a purposeful gutless hit from behind meant to do damage - this was a strategy and a license handed out to teh Essendon players charged with giving it to us..

****ing gutless response from the panzy boys.

Haircuts and fancy botts - overpaid pop stars.

pfffffffffffft

First off to any Essendon supporters in this thread i congratulate you on your win, you wanted the win more and exposed some combination of arrogance/ complacency that exists in our team. Secondly and this may have already been covered but i want to have my rant, Sam Lonergan is a weak pathetic sniping dog, if you feel differently i don't care, i have had a severe injury in a similar tackle so I know what it’s like. His sole intent was to hurt Carrazzo, sure he may not have meant to injure him the way he did but that is beyond the point. It is dangerous to drive a bloke head first like that using his own momentum to hurt him. The next time we play the bombers i want two things to happen, 1. Us to show them the proper respect and treat them like a serious threat and not just say it and 2. for Ratts to take twitch aside during the week lock him in a room, and then in clockwork orange style show him the footage of Lonergan’s tackle, then tell Mitch he hasn’t done his job unless he (fairly) splits Lonergan straight up the middle

Who said they are happy with the loss?

I'm amazed that the antithesis of the sugar coaters thinks it's OK to portray over the top comments as more than an emotional response to a loss.

You're not a real supporter unless you have a scorched earth policy.

Amateurish responses like saying your players are pansies and the colour of your boots is important.

There'll be 22 tests this year, not one.

Some kids here need to sound like they are the only real supporter. Let em go if it means that much to them.

and ...... back to earth we come.

Exactly right mate! We should never have had our heads in the clouds to start with!!!
Whats wrong with keeping a lid on it ..oh no we have to put up with the press and idiot supporters building us up for a massive fall!!!!
And then you have players saying "I dont read the papers " Yeah right
**** I hate Essendon

This is a good post, specially that last line.

Now Essendon supporters are claiming they are ahead of us.

There's no way in hell they're better than us based on this year's games. Saturday the team seemed to have big heads, but if we play to our best, we'll smash them. They have not learned from history - over the past couple of years they have done very well against us in the first match, only to fall in a heap and get smashed during the 2nd encounter.

You can ridicule my point as much as you like re: the coloured boots and the hand signals (and it seems you're on a roll today with anyone that disagrees with you).

I couldn't care less if it's some secret indigenous sign to an ex-teammate.

The point is about the mindset of the players and appreciating their position and standing in the game and not, to use a cliche, get 'ahead of themselves'.

Mitch Robinson, for example, is nowhere near talented enough to be baiting the opposition with this smart-ass celebration for goal. Garlett's been in the game 5 minutes and, as electrifying as he is, is nowhere near consistent enough.

As I said, you can ridicule me all you like, but I bet there will be far more senior and qualified ex-players and staff around the Carlton Football Club that agree with me and will be having a quiet word to the boys this week.

If you look back over the premiership sides of the last decade, with the exception of Jason Akermanis, the great sides have a 'no ********s' policy.

This means having 22 players focused on the contest and the team rather than trying to make some statement and sending childish signals.

I come here not to troll. I think Cake means that we're ahead at this point of the season. The problem with that is that it is far too early for it to matter. I have no doubt Carlton will finish the season strongly and I'm not going to make a prediction that we'll finish higher than you. I'm happy we beat your mob but I do acknowledge that the games that really matter will be the next one we play, and our performance in the finals (should we make it). No doubt the Blues will come out with a much stronger performance next time. I'm under no illusions to that.

Freo next week will be a huge game.

I don't want to think its over due to one loss but I do believe that Carlton are yet to prove themselves in physically tough games.

Notsureifserious

If Carrazzo gets up and plays the rest of the game, the tackle doesnt get mentioned.

If it was that bad he would have been reported instantly. What the tackle did was show the intent that was required to beat a rampaging undefeated Carlton, and it worked as you were soft all day in comparison to us.

Sniping dog? No. Lloyd's bump on Sewell was a snipe I admit it, you cant call a tackle like that a snipe.

David hooks gets punched throws one back gets broken up barley makes the paper David hooks gets punch hit's his head and dies front page news ,
I don't deny that the bombers needed to come out with aggression and be physical but there a difference between fair aggression and attempting to hurt someone, if you think driving someone head first into the ground is fair then I guess we will have to differ in opinion
