On Saturday had Chad Davis playing his first, and Sam Waters playing his second for the season. Out of side injured where Hedge, Dawson, David Van Hoorn, Daniel Sheers, Andrew McQualter, Jessie Dunne, Jeremy Selleck, and Jackson Lucas plus Kyle Grenda - all of whom have played this year - also heard that Porter is due to play in the next few weeks. Good thing about injuries is that are all short term Watch out when the majority take to the ground over next few weeks.

How would you know how they are being coached - that is just bullS#$%t, I believe they are a very happy and committed group, also 2nds winning well and Under's on Top - 4 of last years Under's and 2 of this years playing regularly in seniors. Last year when the injuries hit they lost 4 in a row under Ports - so maybe they did not find a way to keep winning - good to keep the facts right

Point taken in regards to losing 4 straight last year. I never stated I knew how they were being coached, clearly stated my opinion was formed from what I had observed, never questioned the playing groups mood or committment, merely sparking a debate on the question of whether to put a line through them, not attacking the coach or match committee. Also I highly doubt porter will be pulling them on due to the fact he is back at his former club in a capacity until he goes overseas in about 5 or 6weeks.

Some of the grammar, but...
Not quite the end of story.
Your posts presuppose a few things:
1. that Upwey are incapable of performing on their own local merits (read some history)
2. That they rely heavily on imports to fill the stocks (check the transfers)
3. That they have a bigger budget than anyone else in the league (If so, it would translate into the Points System, but doesn't seem to!).

You may be just pushing a personal barrow here, Finger.

Point One. Yes, there history suggest that they've had many high priced imports.

Point two. Checked their transfers and not a great deal to write home about. Hence the comment on poor recruiting. They where well aware of the departures for this season.

Point three. The points system allows you to bring in 11 new players each season. I can't see how that would stop them spending big. It hasnt stopped Wandin.

You will just have to wait and see

You are unbelievable, you bag everyone for heavy recruiting, and then bag Upwey for not doing it - really consistent.

Have you thought it could be a deliberate decision as their Unders had just won the flag, and they are looking to continue to develop their own.

Having said that 14 of the premiership team played their Juniors with Upwey, Saturdays team had 16 - so locals still dominate.

Last word as far as I am concerned - let's look at end of year, I think Finger will again be proved wrong - not surprising really.

Would be interesting to see how Woori or Gembrook would be going if they had 5 of their best players missing - both have terrible reserves and Under's - not sure how they would top up.[/quote]

I may be miss informed but i was led to believe that Woori in fact had 5 quality players unavailable for Satdy's game aswell as 2 regulars in last years side expected to resume training this week.
This can only have a possitive impact on there average 2's i would think.

If it's a deliberate move not to recruit don't whinge about how many players are missing from last year. It was clear to all at Upwey that there would be a large number of departures. It hasn't been of any relevance to Upwey in the past how the Unders or Reserves had performed the previous season when recruiting. Is it only when local blokes coach that Upwey doesn't recruit? Seems that way.

Sorry, Finger. I can't see how one follows the other here! If Upwey did recruit, how would that reduce the injured players list?
Injured players are injured players. Pure and simple.

And you claim it both ways - If Upwey recruit = they spend big dollars and squeeze out the locals. Poor show.
If they don't recruit, they let their coach down. Poor show.
Damned both ways?

I repeat. Barrow-pushing.
Lucky there are lots of whipping boys for you...

Had a look at it on valley vision. Very humerous chain of events. Nothing in it though!. Good marking contest, coach for some reason gets up swinging (might be the fact they were getting pumped), bit of pushing and shoving and coach gets free kick. Dont ask how? Wandin runner then lips off and gets yellow carded and coach can still have his free kick. Dont ask how?

Agree no thing reportable there - no contact made.

Free kick seems to be given as at that point it was the Warby player doing some swinging, nothing ever seems to connect, and as they say it's the retailiator which gets pinged. Umpires just pay what they see.

The free kick in my opionion should have been paid in the goal square as that's where the ball was at the time the free kick was paid. it's supossed to be to the greatest advantage to the team offended against. (hence why a second shot at goal is given in the goal square when a free is paid just after a goal has been kicked and Not in the centre of the ground.

Also agree the free kick should have been reversed if it was the Wandin runner who was sent off.

please correct me if i'm wrong man in white :)

Any one know how close the Kinglake V Junction game was to being called off?

Check out valley vision the fog was pretty bad.

The issue is Sportsguru is bleating about missing players from last year. Well bad luck I say. They knew a heap of blokes where not playing this year and sat on there hands and chose not to recruit. Why do they have to be high priced I was lead to believe that Upwey where so proffesional that would be enough to draw players there.

I was never a fan of Upwey before, but your pushing me to it now, finger.

I cant read and I am also a fool. In saying that no one cares that youve got a few out. Everyone has got players out and to date none of them are on here making excuses for their club. You are the only one. Maybe its Upwey that has no depth not Woori and Gembrook as you posted.
