Will Essendon win the Flag ?

I think you are seriously underrating Richmond. If it wasn't for 2 misses, they would have beaten West Coast and didn't you guys have more scoring shots against Collingwood? Not to mention Geelong at Simmonds stadium. That said, I don't think we can win the flag. I think we will be burned out by the end of the year. I can see us contending either next year or in 2-3 years.

i hope you are right re underating richmond. but we are 3-5 and could be 3-7 in 2 weeks time so altough we sometimes look like a contender the ladder is showing otherwise. if richmond turns around and beats hawthorn next week then i would re-adjust my thinking on essendons chances of winning the flag for sure

We should be 9-1 heading into the Sydney game, so that gives us an excellent platform - despite our horror draw to close the season.

I'd still back the Pies or Hawks (dropped off the Blues for now :p ), but a good chance for top 4, which makes you a contender.

Our bad footy let Richmond back in to the game.

However Richmond, to their credit, took this snife and ran with it, capitalising on our errors.

I was furious we let it get to that point, but extremelly pleased we regained our compusure and got the win.

Flag? Unlikely.

Top 4? It should be our aim now.

will essendon win the flag?

going by the fact that Essendon would have lost tonight had Richmond kicked straight for goal, then i would say no, Essendon will not win the flag.

Hawthorn would have lost if Geelong had kicked straight in 2008, but they didn't and Hawthorn were premiers.

Stupid comment on your behalf.

We played like **** and richmond played out there skins + some major luck on their side IMO

We still have no chance at a flag however.
Yeah Richmond played out of their skins, yet kicked 8 behinds in the third.

Good logic :thumbsu:

And if by luck you mean a terrible run with the umps, then you are right!

Blazing away at the goals often doesn't mean good convert percentage does it?

Terrible run with the umps? So what about the JR "mark" where the umpire DOWN FIELD payed it when it clearly bounced off the ground and managed to sneer one back just before quarter time?

TBH we went to sleep after the half the boys easily had control and we came out thinking the job was done. We are at the moment a 5 goal better team at least then the tigers. (well maybe not tonight lol).

Have you seen how hard the tail end of your season is?

Essendon will be ringing up Bannister for those games. :D

He practically kicked the goals for Essendon in the first quarter.

We played our worst for the season(the first half),had 20 players against us onfield and still nearly beat them.

And we killed Essendon in all the stats except 2 which were very close and 1 which was not - the free kick count lol.

Very proud of the Tigers fightback tonight.

We are improving all the time.

Still don't think we're a premiership side (next year with Joe Daniher ;) ) but 7-1 with Mebourne and GWS coming up means top 4 should be our expectations at this stage!

On form, they are unquestionably the competition benchmark at the moment.

Can they sustain it? Who knows. Do they have another gear? I doubt it.

we did alright tonight. below par performance still good enough to beat a team who are up and about. A lot to improve on from that performance. don't mind the tigers. still just aiming to win a final for the dons this year.

You know you're going well when opposition supporters need to pull every excuse out of the book to discredit wins...

For the moment life is good near the top and there are 16 other sides who would like a 7-1 win/loss ratio at the moment.

GWS & Melbourne to come in the next two weeks. Looking forward to hearing the Bigfooty theories this week on why we're overrated and won't beat these sides either - it's about time for our "slump", isn't it? If we can go 9-1, we won't be going anywhere in a hurry.

Yep the umpires are 100% responsible for Essendon sitting at 7-1. You know your football :thumbsu:

We will hear for the next week AGAIN how "brave" the Tigers are and how the umpiring "robbed" them of victory. This of course is the sole reason they were trailing by 42 points early in the third quarter.

We'll just take the four points and move onto next week. The Tigers can revel in their bravery all week, much like they did after their losses to Geelong & West Coast.

Wins = improvement. We will be 2nd by the end of the weekend and they are 13th... simple really.

Essendons second half today was the worse perform dons Ive seen since the Gold Coast game.

Shocking from the dons, good thing we get some of our best 22 back from injuries.

Its not that Richmond was good, we were just shit in the second half. You can tell, by the amount we missed no pressure kicks.

You are embarrassing and arrogant. IF anyone gets close, you say essendon played bad. What a load of garbage, teams only let you play as well you do. It's called competitive play, but you rabbit on about how good you COULD play. I could say the same about us, we didn't play that well. Keep this garbage for the bay, you're a poor winner.

Richmond played well and caused us to play badly. Give them some credit. They are an up-and-coming side and almost took the victory.

I don't agree with the comments about umpiring (how about the non-mark paid to Riewoldt) but we got a bit of a scare and managed to rally for a win. Be happy with that and don't be arrogant about it, Bomber fans.

He sounds like a Carlton supporter. No doubt teams play as well as their opposition lets them, and Richmond were very good in parts last night

You played rubbish, we played great. My god, get your hand off it.

Obviously haven't watched us.

The boys got complacent after the half time. Tigers played some really good footy but i have no doubt that we played awful and the boys thought the job was "done".

Our defensive efforts were beyond terrible IMO

I'm pretty sure they won't get past semi-final or prelim final week, but they are locks for top 4. Carlton, West Coast, Collingwood & Hawthorn all have other gears, I honestly don't think Essendon do. Good side, but not premiership material.
