Warnock's Demons contract was simply carried over. Suns full strength I question if he is best 22 with Thompson/Bock better options among others (he struggled for a game at the avg demons). Perhaps he is given a 1 year extension, good depth player for where the club is at right now.

Warnock is doing a good job as a negater, but is being required to actually kick the ball far more than he normally would, because Bock & Harbrow are missing. Precise disposal is not his strongpoint. Considering that, he's done alright & I'm sure we'd have leaked far more goals this year, if it hadn't been for his strength & close checking. I think he'll be kept on next year. Hopefully someone else will take up more of the linking up duties he's been doing in Bock's absence. Thompson maybe???

Brennan has another year to run. Better to keep him on for depth as you have to pay out his contract either way.

Next season we will gain 2 top 3 calibre draft picks. O'Meara and a draft pick in 1-3 range.

Also I would be open to letting Caddy go home in exchange for Dayne Beams.

It is obvious the list is improving every year, stick with the team! With the 9 projected outs as below, frees up 5 additions, O'Meara/top 3 pick/late first rounder/2nd rounder.

Out:

Patrick
Moss
Krakouer
Fraser
Hine
Jolly
Hutchins
Magin
Flanagan

Of the below blokes off contract, if any wish to leave id like to see a crack at Dayne Beams and another ready made player who can offer drive off the half back.

Nicholls
Toy
Caddy
Tape

Don't be too quick to give up Caddy. He's played 11 games & I've rated him in our top 5 players in at least 4 of those games. Sure he's made some mistakes, but he's only played 11 games!

I rate him and such is his calibre, that's who we would need to give up to snare Beams.

If he wants to go there is not much we can do about it, the issue will be if he nominates and club as we will be bound to deal with them. I hope he doesn't do this as Essendon tried to screw us over last year. I would rather he went into the draft than take a token from them.

If he really wants to go back to Vic then he should leave it open to the highest bidder, forcing the 9 teams to cough up something reasonable for this highly rated player, it's the least he can do for a club that has given him his start in league football, I doubt he would be getting as many games or game time if he was at Essendon or Collingwood for example.

I hope he stays but I somehow think he and Toy will end up back in Vic but then again the Vics were sure Dangerfield was coming home and he just re-signed with the Crows so who knows.

He's been in pretty good form, I'd hope the club is doing everything they can to re-sign him.

Pretty sure your referring to Caddy. Other than Day, Bennell, Swallow who have already resigned is there a better 19 year old performing at the moment in our side? I think he is developing quite well, still needs to work defensively as do all the younger guys. But offensively and skill wise has been pretty good I thought.

In my opinion, this is so misguided. Essendon offered the Suns Hooker and #19 for Caddy, I know this for a fact. I also know the deal was accepted by McKenna but Scott Clayton declined it. He was not going to relinquish Caddy under any circumstances.

If you have watched Hooker this year you would know he is one of the better CHBs going around and would have been the mainstay of your defence for the next 7-10 years.

Our offer was very reasonable.

Hooker would have certainly been a better option than Matty Warnock both in age/ability.

Is that you Hirdy?

For sure, but we couldn't get Hooker on the cheap. ;)

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I think that if the Hooker of now was put on the table to trade, we would take him for a straight swap with Caddy. At least, I would personally take it. Never mind any additional picks.

But at the time, given what Hooker showed, it obviously didn't please someone along the line. Be it Clayton or whomever.

Who knows. What's done is done.

Probably the wrong thread to put this but wanted to put out my projected 2013 round 1 team. It will give everyone any idea of how good this club will be. 3rd year is when young players traditionally kick on so good signs for our club. Possible round 1 2013 team:

Harbrow Thompson Taylor
O'Meara Bock Brown
McKenzie Stanley Bennell
Rischitelli Day Russell
Matera Lynch Ablett

Smith Swallow Prestia

Iles Shaw Hunt Horsley

Depth: likely top 3 draft pick, Weller, Wilkinson, May, Gorringe Dixon Warnock Toy Caddy? Sexton McQualtar Brennan among others.

Would expect the team to finish well above 18th and possibly as high as 10th.

I would look to trade Caddy if he truly wants to go home, no point holding players that dont want to be there, particularly when currency is high. Main target should be Beams for Caddy and even throw in our 2nd pick in the draft to get it done.

The bloke is a goal kicking ball winning gun and pies would also get to free up cap space/inherit a long term midfielder.

we have to do all we can to keep him. his last two weeks have been pretty good, but i reckon we haven't seen the best of him yet. really hope he stays. wouldn't trade him for hooker.
