News BigFooty to migrate to new software.

Some time this week BigFooty will be taken off line for a day or two.

When we return we will be running new Xenforo software, just like BigSoccer.com:

If you need to keep up with friends while we're off line please PM them and get email or phone numbers.

The final theme has yet to be finalised, so don't get too worried about colours and styles yet.

The BigSoccer guys have made a user guide for the new system which you might like to check out. It will answer just about all of your questions:

Why change?

Generally Xen may not have the number of features and plugins that VB has, but it is lighter on the servers and we feel it is more user friendly with built-in features such as "Like" for posts, better alerts when people quote your posts or mention your user name, better Private Messaging and so on.

The URLs will change, but the old links will redirect to the proper threads and posts.

Will this signal the demise of Tapatalk? I like the change, it's just that I'm so used to the theme that it might take a bit of getting used to. However, it's great to see BF moving into the new era with liking posts, quote notifications (and hopefully mentions too) etc. Should be good.

Interesting to see how it all washes over.

The ability to 'Like' a post can go one way or the other, but at least it's there. There's definitely needed to be the ability to reward a good post with more than just '^this'.

Not a huge fan of the stuff on the right side of the BigSoccer forum page, but I guess it helps to keep all the relevant info right there.

And if it helps to stop the server overload when Carlton lose. I'm all for it.
