Just so Lucy has more of a say than just people stalking her Facebook and paraphrasing what she has said on there:

"Mrs Cornes was outraged Minson was still employing the same verbal techniques to throw off opponents.
"I'm disappointed that an incident we chose to put behind us in 2008 has resurfaced," she told The Advertiser yesterday.
"His alleged repeat offence makes the apology he issued in 2008 seem somewhat trivial." She said she wanted to show Minson the faces of sick children and to meet abused women to teach him the insensitivity of his comments.
"I would love to have the opportunity to take Will to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne or to a women's shelter, so that he can see firsthand the difference between a `game' and `life'," she said."

Why would he meet 'abused women' to teach him the insensitivity of his comments?
I didn't realise that he was bashing or condoning the bashing of women.

This whole story is a load of bullshit. The media look for the slightest thing to build up a story and unfortunately there are too many people who feels its insensitive to do anything these days. Now I see Daniella Pearce has his dad butting in for him, do we really need a grown man to cry over a comment and then get his dad to fight his wars?

This place scares the begeebus out of my sometimes...yet here I am.

The funny part is that the poster likely sat back after it and thought "**** yeah, I nailed it".

Uhhh... inferring that he would force himself on another player's mother isn't condoning abuse of women? Oh.

nice little name change there.
I find it terribly amusing that the little boys think its "girly" to get offended when your mum is the crux of some inane attempt at sledging.

For me, I can not accept that Will Minson is a man of supposed intelligence. Daniel Pearce, looks like he has some integrity and ability to remove himself from some boys club, and 1970's mentality that anything is fair game once you cross a white line.

Cornes wife, should STFU.

I love people suggesting that in 2012, a husband should control what his wife says on social media.

Shorter chain etc....

Not necessarily that a husband should control a wife.

I think it may be the interest of a high-profile individual to ask that their partner, with whom they are publicly associated, exercise a bit of discretion in their online personal affairs.

Why her facebook profile is public and why Chad and Kane's posts (openly admitting they more than hate Minson) are freely visible to the public (and the media) I don't know.

No-one supported what Monty said, only the knuckle draggers are supporting what minson said.

Actually this is wrong. This thread was started by a bomber fan asking why noone was making a big deal of the Rama sledge. All bar a few thought what he said was no big deal and overblown

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/montgomery-sledge.105645/#post-1772429

I love this quote for accuracy though (gotta ask him for the lotta numbers):

The thing I have a problem with is how if the shoe was on the other foot would everyone in Adelaide feel the same and shrug it off and would people such as Graham Cornes think it was mildly amusing, as he put it on radio last night. I think that if it was big Chad in rama's position then he wouldnt think it was mildly amusing.

Although I think this guy badly misunderstood how Graham would react

Considering that Graham played in an era of kinghits, behind the play incidents, huge all in punch ups (not push and shoves likes now) and also of sledging that would have been 10 times as worse as what is said now, then i really dont think he would care.

If a Port player was baiting people all game, got involved in a heated scuffle and ripped a guy out of it and then started abusing him for a couple of minutes then id expect plenty of verbal abuse to go his way.

As has been said numerous times...had it been an unprovoked vulgar sledge, then Monty may have been given a week off to think about it and im sure noone would be defending him. But it wasnt. It was a reply to someone who just whacked him in the head and abused him for minutes.

Wasn't it a comment that was directed at he's wife? I can understand him getting involved. It's the Cornes family that need to take a step back.

....women are largely irrational creatures, this is the proof..

And blokes aren't? What's rational about kicking around part of a dead cow and millions sitting around watching it and getting all worked up about it? And more importantly those doing the kicking getting paid more money than people who actually save lives, and in same causes so they can go back to kicking dead cow parts.

...and then it put the lotion in the basket

Ok sorry, Im out too much derailing from me on slow Tuesday at work!
The derailing is saving the thread and in the process likely helping it to be closed.

Two sides to the story, sure.

But one side has the UMPIRE reporting the incident.

The other side involves a man WHO HAS BEEN CITED FOR GOING TOO FAR WITH SLEDGING BEFORE.

I wonder which side I would take.
the one that plays for the team you support.

At the end of the day, Port are a bunch of sooks and Danyle Pearce will probably have much more shit coming at him now.

Really? I didn't think the umpire actually put him on report but helped with the investigations because he was near the incident and heard some of it.

Will's been suspended for 1 game if it was as vulgar as you claim it was I think the punishment would be a little stronger don't you?

As I said two sides to every story and the other side of it while isn't pleasant it certainly isn't as harsh.

Unless you know the full detail of what has been said, then innocent until proven guilty.

Either way, Pearce is a soft as butter, and WILL hear much worse from the other side of the fence the next time Port play WB in Melbourne.

Nah mate. In BigFooty world, you're innocent until proven guilty - if it's your player/club who's in the gun. You're guilty until proven innocent - if it's your player/club who's been wronged or you hate the player/club who's in the gun.

Uhhh... inferring that he would force himself on another player's mother isn't condoning abuse of women? Oh.

Do you honostly belief that a comment made in the heat of the battle means that he thinks its ok to beat and rape women?

Wasn't it a comment that was directed at he's wife? I can understand him getting involved. It's the Cornes family that need to take a step back.
Ex-wife wasn't it?

Probably came out and said it so he could sit around with his mates and tell them how tough he is defending the honor of his ex-wife in the paper.

So are we going to get to the stage where a player who is hit on the field files an 'assult claim' with police straight after a match?

I mean the whole what happens on the field stays on the field mentality is dead, right?

You call going into bat for sick children and stopping violence against women as a hobby horse:confused:
Yes I do. That's her thang. I didn't say it was wrong, or a poor choice of cause to go into bat for. My point was she's hijacking another discussion completely to remind us of it. Therefore, it's a hobby horse.

It's becoming clear that Minson is a dog of a bloke. I thought my experience with him might have been a one off and that he had just had a few too many beers. Glad I said what I said to him because he is a gutless prick.

I run a small business. Blue collar guys, 13 in a workshop.

If anybody said anything remotely like what Minson said in the first instant with Cornes and is alleged to have said in the second instant with Pearce, they would be sacked on the spot. I am not sure what workplace you are talking about.

Also, I played soccer at a semi professional level. I never heard, not once, a comment about anybody's mother, ever. If anybody had said anything about my mother on the field, I would have put their nose through their face.

We are in 2012. Surely, people know where the line is drawn. Just play football.

Hahaha, that's a very balanced and sensible response when dealing with an idiot.

The contradiction in this post puts it in the top five of the thread for mine.

The "what happens on the field" mentality is quaint, but silly.

If people just concentrated on playing footy, we would all be better off.

Look at Duncan Ferguson who head butted an opponent while playing for Rangers years back. The ref and linesmen missed the incident but he was arrested and served 3 months in prison for assault. Crossing a white line does not absolve people from all responsiblity.
