another 60 odd to have played unofficial tests/odi's/T20I's.

i'll come back with a handful of worst cricketers to play that have played 25+ tests.

There's an endless list of players like Brett Dorey who failed their call up to odi's and finished up with shocking stats.
Mick Lewis was heralded as our death bowling saviour, started OK before being smeared around the park in SA.

Not sure why Brett Dorey didn't work out:

He has very limited experienced at domestic one-day level - 10 matches and 11 wickets - but has caught the eye of the chairman of selectors, Trevor Hohns. "Brett is an exciting prospect who has good height and is able to generate good bounce. He has had solid results in domestic cricket and we want to have a look at him at the next level."

But he can go to his grave saying he played for Australia and that's better than any of us ever did.

Padded a bit from playing county cricket but a decent player.

Lucky to play a test in that era, was just in the right place at the right time, but compared to some of the players today.......

I mean people are getting picked as specialist bats now with worst FC records than that plus he took nearly 300 wickets at 35 on top......

Muller is probably harsh, his first class record was very good especially for a player who had a lot of injury issues early and retired twice due to business interests and had to be coaxed back to play for the bulls.

Apparently he actually skipped a shield final to go to a business meeting or something like that

I liked Dorey a lot but the real tragedy was that Magoffin never got the chance to play for Australia. Bloke could genuinely bowl.

From recollection, he was picked in the wrong format.

He was doing well in the Sheffield Shield but the selectors back then liked to use ODI cricket as a proving ground.

Unfortunately, there's always been a dubious relationship between ODI and Test performances.

Can’t believe Whitney is getting mentioned here. If you’re gonna mention a left aren’t with a media career it’s surely Julian, hack and a half who somehow found himself on some iconic tours.

Simon Cook and Nicholson are probably fair enough mentions. Particularly Cook, he REALLY sucked.

His career ended unfortunately but I don’t know what the selectors ever saw in Casson. Chinaman is a pretty useless art in long form cricket, particularly when you’ve got zero tricks a la this bloke.

A battle between him, frothies Beer, Krejza and Doherty for the worst spinner we picked in that period.

Krejza’s 8 fa a million doesn’t count, I mean really. Beer plain stunk, might as well have picked Aaron O’Brien. Doherty just Beer but with less bounce.

It’s easy to rag on McGain but he was a better bowler than this lot, just bowled horribly in his one shot in the worst conditions for a spinner imaginable. He was a better bowler than Hauritz for sure, who was somehow better than the majority of the guys I mentioned.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness, that period of time just really still messes with me.

I live in fear that one day Warnie will become a Test selector. Can you imagine what the team would look like, full of all his mates and favourites. Stoinis would be captain
