The ABC broadcast rights allow a one year extension next season . Channel 9 however are speaking to the WAFL about taking on the WAFL broadcasts next season .

Evidently the ABC ratings are down on last season by a fair margin so Channel nine are keen to take it over

They would probably ruin it and drop it after a year or two when it didn't deliver ratings and/or suit their purposes. Wouldn't be happy if the ABC lost it.

Being reported that West Coast and Freo are both pulling their senior list players out of the Falcons-Sharks clash in Kalannie. For us I think that just means Strijk, since Brown and Stevens are both on the plane to Melbourne.

Was the reserves match being played there as well? Would mean Dick and Papertalk would also be affected.

Btw do you know how hard it was phrasing that last sentence without saying "Dick has been pulled" or "Dick has been withdrawn"

Mascoulis is back from injury , playing reserves for WP this week , Dick and Papertalk playing reserves also in the same game at Joondalup . L Stevenson is out with injury it seems and A Hamp is back to reserves after a 3.2 goal game aginst Mt Gravatt .

Newman / McGovern / Neates / Weedon / Strijk all playing league with McIness and Tunbridge having the bye with Perth .

Lewis is one of the 3 emergencies but did not fly over with the team.

I heard Strijk isn't playing league this week because the Eagles don't want the boys to be playing at Kalannie; the cricket pitch has been covered and the oval deemed playable so maybe it's a logistical thing? Who knows...is it true?

Yeah sorry Strijk is playing reserves at Joondalup tomorrow with Dick / Papertalk / Mascoulis

Is the fact that these guys are playing reserves an indication that;
The WAFL has a good standard of footy
The players are too small to withstand the rigours of playing with men
Not fit enough
Not good enough

I don't like the sound of an AFL standard player playing reserves for a WAFL team...

Respectively:
Strijk - The Eagles didn't want him travelling to some far flung corner of WA with the seniors
Mascoulis and Papertalk - Both still kids who are developing on the rookie list
Dick - Working his way back up to fitness after his knee injury, might have played seniors this week if East weren't also playing in a far flung corner of WA

Hopefully plays league next week

Surely if there were a game for Newman to debut in it would be against the Suns at home.

Agree. I'd like to see Weedon take the Honey Badger's place in the 22 too. The MC have been trailling him across half-back / back pocket for Claremont and he has turned his form around.

Enough for a call up though?

Sweet, we definitely need another HB option. :thumbsu:

Good to see Dick slotting 3 goals. A Mitch McGovern playing colts for Claremont anyone know If there is a relation?
