Who are these superstars of which you speak? Superstar = would be top 5 in any club they walk into. We don't have a single player who'd be top 5 at any club. Heck a majority of our best 22 wouldn't make a list at another club as depth players.

Logan is utterly terrible. Apart from his workrate, he has NOTHING that approaches AFL quality.

Why are you hating on BMT? He was our best bar Hartlett yesterday.

He had his second good game from 11 ('good' being a strong word, for once he got a bit of the ball but as usual he did **** all with it) against a bunch of teenagers.

The thing about all of this is no one has any idea how these players will perform under a coaching and fitness structure that is even remotely competent.

If the performance of a few of our players since going to other clubs is anything to go buy, they will improve.

We all want change and expect getting a new coach will solve it all...while paying these average to good players who have a great game 1 in every 9 or so warrants them a superstars wage...get stuffed..get rid of them and get genuine talent.

There's a salary cap that we have to pay 95% of, BMT. That means that the shiniest turds in the cowdung are going to get more than they're worth. If we got rid of Boak and Pearce, then that money would just go to the next shiniest turds in the cowdung, they wouldn't be worth it either and you'd have the exact same complaint that you do now. Judge the players on performance, not pay packet.

See above. We have to invest it in someone. You think we have to overpay to keep Boak, just think about how much we'd have to pay to get an equivalent player to leave their club and come to Port Adelaide. Boak's paypacket would be small change in comparison.

In fact, I could be wrong but I seem to recall something about 100% of the cap having to be paid now as part of the new bargaining agreement settled with the players.

Yes. That's exactly what we have to do. That's the nature of the AFL and the salary cap. We have to give the money to someone. If we weren't giving it to Boak, we'd be giving it to someone equally undeserving. Get over it.

If Boak stays at Port, it will be partly because of the draws of loyalty, wanting to help the club that gave him his opportunity, having friends at the club, and already being set up in SA. If we look elsewhere, we'll be looking to players who have none of those draws. You know what we'd have to give up to replace those draws? Even more money.

We'll probably have to pay about 500k a year to keep Boak, but we'd probably have to pay about 700k to entice an equivalent player to actively leave their club and come to Port Adelaide. It's not ideal, but it's the nature of the salary cap. Again, get over it.
