Obviously things started to improve after I left then...
Boys tried hard but it was the battle between the boys and the men that made the difference.
Felt really sorry for Todd - tried hard but overran the ball and kicked a beautiful pass into the forward line - straight to a Swans player though. Didnt seem to be able to get near the ball or read the play - might have been the wind though - it was very swirly.
Pat K at full forward was a change - he is a good player but needs to be able to run to the fall - he was muscled out a bit but still managed
Bartlett could be a very good player - he needs to be paired up with Blacky to be taught the fundamentals of clearing the ball from the centre - he moved well though.
Longer was jumping very high at the centre - still needs work on his second phase - very small criticism though.
Clarke and McKeever were solid at the back neither dominating - they were on smaller opponents some of the time - few mismatches.
Had no idea who the fill ups were but they all gave it a red hot go - physically they were beaten but not for courage - well done boys.

Had a mate who was there who said Cal was close to our BOG today, and played one of his much better games for the club. Accurate at all? He's been known to be a bit biased towards Bartlett in the past, so just thought I'd see if he's on the money or not.

Cal started really well but he went missing in the third. I left at 3 quarter time so I don't know how he finished the game off.
Cal wasnt the worst by far but he just needs to be taught the smarts at stoppages - 2 years off wouldnt have helped.
Hawk & Stiller did the od good thing - not a lot of teamwork as the make ups struggled in that department.
Lots of god things from the performance though.
Buchanan is pretty well gone - just too long a season for him.

Even if that does eventuate, it's been brilliant having a very successful side to go an watch every week after how both the seniors and the reserves performed last season.
Buchanan finished the game with an ice pack on one knee (I think his right), and an ice back on his thigh (left I think). Agree with piari that he's probably gone.
I thought Longer was our best, but that may be because of my expectation of him. I didn't expect to see much from him, being a first year player and tiring towards the end of the season. Clunked some good marks however, was a handy 'get the hell out of defense' card.
Stiller had a blinder of a last quarter.
Banfield stank. Amazing to think that I watched this little red head running around in the curtain-raisers at the Gabba in 2009, a class above the reserves then. Ball doesn't bounce up for him, doesn't run to the right places, has no confidence. May have only had 1 touch to three quarter time, managed to get a little bit of the pill late in the game, laid a couple of tackles, but his confidence is shot. His form line now is very Sherman like, the reason for it is a mystery though.

Do you guys believe that in three weeks time if we make the gf we will play harwood,lisle, green and crisp? Or just give 'em a spell until the start of pre season. Don't reckon they'll play harwood and green but may play lisle and crisp.
