WHEN I see Travis Cloke these days, I see a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders, worn down by a silly contract renogotiations situation. These negotiations have been ill-timed and protracted ... Poppa Cloke ain't doin' his kid any favours. It's being compounded by the fact neither he nor Dawes can get a kick and it's all falling to him. I'm not saying we get him, not saying we don't try, but he'd feel a helluva lot more comfortable alongside Jack and Tyrone (if he were fit) at the moment and with a contract signed than his current predicament.
And seriously, people who think the guy can't play know nothing. Cloke has had many fine seasons, yet people are going to judge him ona few bad game sthis year???
I think once a contract is signed the kid will fire!!
Not at that price - no way he's even close to $1,000,000 per year. It'd simply be a bad business decision - something that I'm confident is a thing of the past at Punt Road.
Going after the best CHF in the comp is a short cut
I would think, for too long, we havent made these plays, or even been in contention. I would call it smart if handled correctly, but to simply call it a short cut is short sighted![]()
And he's not the best CHF in the league, Hawkins is. Trav, would be lucky to be in the top five on this year's form. Which, let's be honest is the only true basis of assessment.
Think you missed my point Morro. Cloke is being touted some sort of panacea for all our troubles and that as soon as he walks in the door we're instantly in a grand final. Clearly that's not right.
I am saying we're in the beginning to middle stages of a (another) comprehensive rebuild and if we are going to compromise our ability to retain players and structure our side by bringing a selfish mercenary, then I hope we do our due diligence. I hope we can sell the message to Vickery, Martin, Maric and all our other young recruits when we're negotiating with them and letting them know why we can't pay them their market value.

The pieces of the Cloke puzzle will slowly come together when (& not if, but when) Malthouse will put pen down on paper at Visy Park as early as next week. Naturally, Travis will follow suit and sign a five year mega deal to join his old mentor at Carltank.
I'm actually now starting to think this is right... F*** Carlton.
Surely ****ing not...lulzThe million $ question is whether the Blues can fit him under their salary cap?
Surely they are already paying megabucks for the sevices of Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and to a slightly lesser extent Waite, Carazzo, Simpson & Kruezer.
There will be several delistings at season's end to make room for Travis and his entourage!
