Freo spanking North has really shaken things up.

We are now on track to finish 6th and play the Dockers in week one. This is a great result for us.

Our worst case scenario, im happy verse any team at their home cept geelong, why im here hawkin ur thread

The way I look it is that we have gone from a likely home final against North to a likely home final against Freo. A big improvement.

We will beat Sydney and beat them well. I am supremely confident of this.

Yes although to be fair against both of those opponents we had a fit Ottens, and against Freo Sandi was on one leg after injuring himself the week before.

That said I'd still back us to beat either in Melb. Just want to avoid a trip to Perth.

Yeah, that's what I was hinting at.

Dimwit has shielded the Perth filth from Geelong's full wrath in the regular season at their request. I presume the 130+ point drubbing was the catalyst for the weagles demanding the AFL to spare them a trip to Kardinia Park, likewise Freo.

The cost of that blatant 'protectionist' rigged fixture should be defeat at Geelong's hands in finals once again.

I think we will play well this week - as this is really the beginning of finals for us.

No question we would prefer to play on the MCG in our first true final. So we need to win and badly - and it also sends a message to other finals contenders we are up and about.

That said - cannot see us winning well - Sydney are a good side and have hardness and size about them. We are still playing a lot of kids whose bodies and experience of all things AFL - have a way to go.

Home advantage is still a bonus and a help IMO.

Then we will play North or Freo - both coming good at the right time of the season. Both will be tough opponents - however I believe we can prevail.

Then who knows who will meet ? It is possible that we could end up in our second final at the MCG again but perhaps presently the odds are against that.

If we get badly beaten this week and get some injuries - well that then opens big questions about us. And we could then face WC in WC first week of the finals. Not ideal.
