Melb doesnt seem to be interested in Gus anymore (have their sights on Byrnes).. so it seems Port Adelaide is in the box seat now to take Gus for 2013...

He isnt of that same calibre and remember hes turning 28 next year, not like these other 2 who were much younger. Also it has been stated by the AFL that they will be far harsher on compensation of FAs compared to the GC/GWS signings.

That is correct. Thats why i dont really want to lose Monfries and gain Moloney and that be it. We would get nothing and IMO would lose out. Id be happy to get nothing if we got Goddard, although its a massive IF.

AFL players want to win flags, more so than move home to play for port. I can understand a homesick youngster wanting to go home but not a 25-26yo. He can always move back to SA after Footy if he wants, and surely he would believe we are closer to a flag than port?

So 750k - 1mil if he gets delisted after the two vs a ('potential') premiership. (We all know how that turned out for Buckley)

As far as salary cap goes Monfries could be in the way of Goddard. In no other way does Monfries leaving help us to get Goddard though.

We Get either Goddard or Moloney - Goddard is an upgrade and Moloney is about the same level.
