With the saints likely to recieve pick 13 if they lose Goddard id expect us to get the pick after our second round this year which would be about 30-33?

He isnt of that same calibre and remember hes turning 28 next year, not like these other 2 who were much younger. Also it has been stated by the AFL that they will be far harsher on compensation of FAs compared to the GC/GWS signings.Saints would get the best comp available, comparable the the ablett/scully situation. I'd say 2 first rounders
Under the rules of free agency, the Saints would be compensated with a draft choice if they lost Goddard and did not sign a player of comparable worth and age as a free agent themselves. Goddard would likely deliver them a first-round pick (if they did not sign another high-calibre free agent themselves). St Kilda's first round pick is No. 12, which means it would probably receive pick 13 in the draft as compensation.
Clubs can also receive an end-of-first-round pick, a second-round pick or a third-round pick, depending on the contract and worth of the player.
If we were the ones to get Goddard though, and Monfries leaves we wouldn't get anything.
Melb doesnt seem to be interested in Gus anymore (have their sights on Byrnes).. so it seems Port Adelaide is in the box seat now to take Gus for 2013...
It's all you need to know, really. Wait for them to offer Jordan Russell and Raph Clarke 3 year contracts.Mark Neeld said:"I like moneyball"

I can see a use for monfries, melbourne need goal kickers.
I'd be very surprised if he left given we want him to stay.
Now will be his best chance to return to SA if he wants to.
AFL players want to win flags, more so than move home to play for port. I can understand a homesick youngster wanting to go home but not a 25-26yo. He can always move back to SA after Footy if he wants, and surely he would believe we are closer to a flag than port?
If the crows offered him a deal its a different story.
An extra 100-200k a year for a locked in 4 years compared to 2 or a premiership.
So 750k - 1mil if he gets delisted after the two vs a ('potential') premiership. (We all know how that turned out for Buckley)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Most will depend on what EFC do with Goddard and/or Molony. If we pick either of these up, we (probably) get nothing for Monfries if he goes. I'm not sure that people will be happy to lose him for nothing.
if it gets us goddard i'll literally sing him a goodbye song
