We paid Pick 2 for Wayne Carey.
I am sure if you had your time again you would of taken Wells instead of Careys 28 games and 50 goals (approx)
Its a good point you make as clearly even a champion like Carey you can pay overs

If that is the case I see that as a vote of no confidence in Smack going forward by the AFC...

This is great from our club's perspective to have two quality ruckman BUT its just another Ivan situation. Neither Giles nor Sauce can play as key forward which is something we should be looking for. Having said that, I would love to have someone of Giles quality on the list because if Sauce goes down, we have a ready made replacement. Was just tweeted we are now favourite to land Giles next week, so I doubt Gorringe will be the player we will ask for from GC![]()
Jacobs and Danger, if only it were that easy to convince other teams!
Sam Jacobs @samjacobs24
@dangerfield32 we will take GC's pick number 2hopefully

we actually paid for him with pick 4. AFL then took two picks away from Carlton, resulting in pick 4 becoming pick 2.I am sure if you had your time again you would of taken Wells instead of Careys 28 games and 50 goals (approx)

Brisbane Lions – end round one selection (compensation for the loss of Michael Rischitelli).
Gold Coast Suns – end round one selection (traded from the Brisbane Lions, after compensation for the loss of Jared Brennan).
So 2 compo pics from them, it was not a trade, the trade was just GC paying Bris for the permission
Would you do that deal in the reverse situation, not likely but who knows what the clubs will agree on
That just ain't going to happen.....no way would he be on the table, he is one player that absolutely has more upside than $Kurt$...not to mention superior in almost every facet of his game!! Gun!!Think Adelaide is pretty keen on Tom Lynch from GC in preference to any of the SA boys playing there. Would be a tougher deal to broker, but this kid has something about him that would enable him to slip straight into our forward line.

I stand corrected, thanks Danoz (cracker of an avater BTW)
Can I just put out there (at the risk of being smashed) if Carey one of the best players of all time with more than 700 goals to his name and an avg of 2.6 goals per game as a CHF was worth pick 4 but Tippett with 1.6 is worth pick 2?

can't.AAARRRGH! Giles Giles Giles...Jesus!
Somebody convince me!
Also if Carey hadn't have injured his neck or his knee, he would have played twice the amount of games, and kicked twice the amount of goals. If, if, if. Probably would've taken us to the GF as well.Terrible comparison. Different era of footy. Carey was 30 and had 12 months off of footy. Already was on the decline. Tippett is in his Prime. Not just a forward. Rarity of Forward/Rucks pushes his price up massively.

Crows chairman Rob Chapman told The Advertiser last night his reaction to Tippett's defection would be shaped by the club the Queenslander chose as his next home. That is now between AFL premier Sydney and Gold Coast.
"We have bent over backwards for this guy," said Chapman.
His club not only made Tippett the highest-paid player - $700,000 a season - but also went to extraordinary lengths to deal with his homesickness and dislike of Adelaide life, including moving his brother Joel to SA.
"If he wanted to go home, I get it," Chapman said.
"If he wanted to go back to his family, I get it.
"But to now tell us that he wants to leave Adelaide to go to another club, that grates on me at the moment."
Tippett is yet to put a players wife away..... atleast to my knowledgeI stand corrected, thanks Danoz (cracker of an avater BTW)

I really can understand if Tippet didn't like living in Adelaide, lets face it the vast majority of 22-35 people leave for pretty much the same reason.
but it is still good for the club to come out swinging a bit.
