Sydney player mike pike still unsigned. Any interest there?
He's Canadian eh?

Pike is the player that drops out of the side if Tips goes to Sydney. He'd be serviceable for us and we should look at getting a player like him if Tips leaves.. but he is nowhere near enough in compensation. Pike and their first rounder doesn't cut it either. A pick inside say 12 and Pike might be more around the mark.

I see him as if he was put into the deal at all, it would be a minor addition/inclusion.

The deal for Tippett would be done without him in it at all (because lets face it, Pyke in for Tippett isn't what I think we are after as a ruck), and then as a side, they would explain the situation to Pyke, and ask him his preference. To be honest if he were to leave at all, it would be to another club. An international player, already in a premiership. I think it would show disservice to him and the publicity of the sport on an international scale if he were taken from a flag winning side to potential 2nd string in the ressies for most of the year.

He is good, just don't think he fits us.

Hey Wayno, how can we walk away from a "gentleman's agreement" that you have assured me on numerous occasions never existed?

We might all know how all this ends but clearly Blucher has read one too many Agatha Christie novels.

This Blucher guy sounds like a massive dick.
I once had a meeting with him, when he was with the Lions, and he gave our footy team some used surplus equipment, seemed like a nice guy.

Later when I contacted him about the equipment I was told that we would have to pay for it, he is obviously a two faced dick.

He re-signed with us at the end of 2009 season with a year still to run on his contract. GC had that window at the end of 2009 season where they could have signed an agreement with him but we managed to re-sign him before that window opened.

but if he wanted to leave for GC, he could of put off contact talks in a similar fashion to today, why renew the contract if he didnt like adelaide?

FFS ......you said agreement signed and locked away

If that was the case GC would have already been announced

There's a huge difference between "an understanding" and a "contract" that you put forward

You also for the upteenth time said a 2nd round pick

You're making this up on the run .......anyone could have predicted GC as the favored club, even my dog ;)

So far your inside sources have not revealed anything that a secondhand fotune teller couldn't have predicted

I have never said what you have attributed to me ....all i have done is pull you up on your continously changing stories

You said you accurately predicted Tuesday for the announcement .....yet you also said it would be announced the week after the prelim .....as i said ever changing story until it matches the outcome you want

Maybe his management said that in the first 2 years GC would be cannon fodder .........better off joining year 3

Really surprised he left. Not so much shocked, as there have been whispers for some time that he wanted to head home but surprised after how well the Crows went this year and clearly how well they will go next year and beyond.

I thought after the Preliminary Final where you guys went so close that might have influenced him to stay but not to be.

For what it's worth I think he's making a big mistake. He had just struck the perfect combo with Tex Walker, they would have been unstoppable next year. If he goes to Brisbane or Gold Coast he won't win a Premiership before retirement and if he goes to Sydney there is no guarantee he will be as effective, not to mention the fact he will lose all credibility.

For mine he should of stayed. Sanderson is a dead set gun coach and would have got the best from him. Money is great but Premierships are better, he will maybe realise this later on.

If we cant get toumpus ....... menzel is the next best thing.

Gorringe and menzel for Tippett is actually not too bad.
Not questioning the surgeon, but geez he already has a history of knee injury... You'd be a little worried.

Why are we necessarily spending a pick on either of them?

It's best available, not best available South Australian, this board never seems to comprehend that.

He is one of the most talented kids in this draft, but he is likely to slide a bit due to his injury history. Could be a bargain, and I'd want us to take him regardless of whether or not he's from SA.

Toumpas is also being touted by many as going in the top 5, some think top 3.

A lot of the SA kids in this years draft are very good, as evidenced by their performance of the SA team in the Under 18's Championships.

i thought he signed the contract to stay with the crows, rather than to join GC as i remember GC were trying to lure tippett for their inaugral squad but this idea was put to bed because tippett signed a new contract which lasted until now?
nah, he was about 2 years into his contract at the time of this interview. he had signed before GCS could sign him, after we lost to collingwood in the SF in 2009. so they were trying to lure him whilst still contracted.

Yeah the Tippett defection is baffling on almost all fronts. I only hope there are legitimate and substantial intangibles at play that have driven his decision.

The money, imminent on-field success, the Gold Coast option well and truly still on the table even with another year or two in Adelaide...I can't get my head around it. Nor can anyone else who has weighed in it seems.
